Abstract: this study was based on data collected in a nursery located in the municipality of rio doce, mg, to evaluate the biomechanics of activities of eucalyptus spp seedling production. the evaluation was carried out by the bidimensional analysis with the use of the videotape recording technique, with the images of movements frozen to measure the angles of the several body segments. the involved forces were measured in order to apply the biomechanical bidimensional model for the prediction of postures and static forces, using a software developed by the university of michigan, us. the seedling transport with a pushcart was the only activity presenting compression force on the spinal disc above the superior load limit; and all the studied activities surpassed the load limit recommended in at least one phase of the cycle and in at least one articulation.

Abstract: the main objective of this study was to evaluate the physical work load and the biomechanical analysis of 20 workers at the wood carbonization in hot tail charcoal kilns, located in the north of the minas gerais state, brazil. cardiac frequency was analyzed using the polar eletro oy system from finland. the time required by the workers per activity was evaluated through the individual chronometry method and the biomechanical analysis was carried out by a software developed by the michigan university. the results showed that the cardiovascular load required was of 44.5%, which was classified to be moderately heavy. the most time consuming activity was the sealing of the kiln. there is a compression risk of the l5 - s1 vertebral disk for the kiln loading labor, during the steps basket lifting and log removal.

Revista Espa?o do Currículo , 2009,

Silva,Maria da Gra?a; Costa,Maria Emília;
Análise Psicológica , 2005,
Abstract: this research, based on the erikson?s psychosocial development perspective, has as its fundamental goal to study the relations between developmental psychosocial tasks and anxiety in young people. in this study we used a sample of 511 portuguese young people, with ages between 17 and 26 years, which attended several higher education courses in the porto area. globally, results show that a constructive resolution of psychosocial tasks corresponds to a smaller tendency for anxiety. results also allow the understanding of the specific contribution each stage has concerning the development of different anxious structures. as for gender, results indicate the presence of significant effects for fears, obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviours, as well as for psychosocial developmental stages.

Cunha,Isabel Maria Gonzalez Duarte da; Marques,Maria Emília;
Análise Psicológica , 2009,
Abstract: in the present work the authors try to constitute the other as an organizer of the development process in the adolescence. using the connection between the conceptions concerned to adolescence and notions of the subject and object, self-other, it was possible to constitute three dimensions along the development process of the adolescent: the equal, the different and the complementary. rorschach was used as an instrument to access the psychological subject, inserted in the french school, with the parameters, self representation and relation representation, and secondly, the transformational model that privileges the communication relation, the symbopzation, the creation and the expansion. protocols were obtained from adolescents from 13 to 17 years old, of both genders, in the aim to observe the development between the self and the other(s) in this period of development.

Colares, Viviane;Franca, Carolina da;Gonzalez, Emília;
Cadernos de Saúde Pública , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-311X2009000300007
Abstract: this study investigated whether undergraduate students' health-risk behaviors differed according to gender. the sample consisted of 382 subjects, aged 20-29 years, from public universities in pernambuco state, brazil. data were collected using the national college health risk behavior survey, previously validated in portuguese. descriptive and inferential statistical techniques were used. associations were analyzed with the chi-square test or fisher's exact test. statistical significance was set at p < 0.05. in general, females engaged in the following risk behaviors less frequently than males: alcohol consumption (p = 0.005), smoking (p = 0.002), experimenting with marijuana (p = 0.002), consumption of inhalants (p < 0.001), steroid use (p = 0.003), carrying weapons (p = 0.001), and involvement in physical fights (p = 0.014). meanwhile, female students displayed more concern about losing or maintaining weight, although they exercised less frequently than males. the findings thus showed statistically different health behaviors between genders. in conclusion, different approaches need to be used for the two genders.

Abstract: objectives: to investigate aspects of the hospital routine, recognizing bioethical principles (pb) impacting the delivery of nursing; verify that improving this situation requires that the concept of respect is rooted in this routine, with the patients; and, assess whether differences exist in the concept of respect among nurses working in a teaching hospital and those who graduated recently from a program for improvement of personnel. methods: this was an exploratory, qualitative approach, performed in a large hospital involving, as participants in the study, 20 recent graduates. results: it was found that graduated student realizes that the pb helped in their routine; that the concept of respect applies in all situations with patients; and that the workload makes it difficult to anchor this concept in practice. conclusion: recently graduated students had more difficulty than more experienced nurses in overcoming the routine of work and identifying ways of anchoring this concept.

Abstract: The objective of this study was to assess the prevalence of iodine deficiency and possible correlated factors among schoolchildren in the municipality of Novo Cruzeiro-MG by means of an evaluation of urinary iodine excretion. Five hundred and forty schoolchildren aged 6 to 14 years selected by stratified sampling, were evaluated. Urine samples were analyzed using the Sandell-Kolthoff method preconized by the WHO and iodine concentrations in the salt were assessed by means of volumetric analysis, in accordance with recommendations from the Ministry of Health. Iodine deficiency was observed in 38.9% of the schoolchildren. Of these, 28.7% of them presented slight deficiency, 6.2% of them were moderately deficient and 4% of them were seriously deficient. Median urinary iodine levels in the urban and rural population were 150.8 and 119.2 μg/L, respectively, with a clear distribution of iodine deficiency among the populations (p < 0.001) being registered. It was also observed that there was a high prevalence of deficient urinary iodine excretion among schoolchildren that consumed salt with an insufficient iodine content. In relation to the quality of the salt consumed by families, in 12.2% of the residences studied the iodine content in salt was below the recommended level (20 mg/kg), while the iodine content was below 15 mg/kg in only 5.3% of them. The results indicated that, although not characterized as a public health issue, according to WHO criteria, iodine deficiency showed very high prevalence among schoolchildren in this region. Regarding the iodine content of salt found in household consumption, our findings indicated the National Program of Salt Iodination was not efficient in the city, since it did not hit the target proposed by the Ministry of Health. Furthermore, low urinary iodine excretion associated with the consumption of salt with low iodine content suggests the need for periodical evaluations in order to provide effective control of the endemic disease.
