Abstract: this reflection approaches the fear of death that has accompanied human existence from its dawn. humans are the only living beings who know about death, which makes them anticipate this fear by turning it into a companion for life. in order to reduce this "deadly anguish", mankind has had to negotiate with death over time, as a way of confronting this fear. this understanding becomes important since we are nursing professionals who, in our daily work, deliver care to the human being in the process of dying.

Abstract: the aim of this research was to verify the habits related to the risk factors of one population with arterial hypertension. seventy individuals were interviewed. authors found that the majority do not practice any kind of physical exercise, they do not have leisure activities and need education programs to aquire these habits. there are gaps in information, because they have their own experience as a reference, in spite of the orientations they received from several professionals.

Abstract: by means of a comprehensive approach and based on the theoretical framework stemming from the studies of michel maffesoli, we attempted to understand the sharing dimension existing among ill people during hospitalization. through interviews and observation, we were able to apprehend that, in spite of all the standardization of hospitalization, people weave a relational web and engender a "destination community" within the hospital.

Abstract: the present paper aims to describe the most frequent nursing diagnoses found in a group of clients with hematologic diseases. authors used the taxonomy i proposed by the north american nursing diagnoses association (nanda) to guide this study. data were collected from 14 clients. authors identified 16 nursing diagnoses whose frequency were equal or higher to fifty percent. other studies are needed to find a better definition of the diagnostic profile of these clients.

Abstract: the aim of this study was to compare information on perioperative nursing regarding audiovisual (video) and oral resources. 104 patients were registered as subjects and divided in two groups, 54 of them in the oral group and 50 in the video group. authors concluded that the groups were homogeneous and that there was no significant difference between the two resources used. independent from the resource used, the responses were qualitatively better. however, regarding perioperative informations, authors spent 10 minutes using the video while oral information lasted 45 minutes. the video unabled verbalization that is characterized by the exposition of methods and reduces the time spent with information.
Risco para trauma vascular: proposta do diagnóstico e valida??o por peritos

Abstract: this concept and content validation study aimed to compose the title, vulnerability mechanisms and risk factors for the nursing diagnosis "risk for vascular trauma", according to the taxonomy proposed by nanda, as well as to validate the elements of this diagnosis, based on 60 experts' opinion. fifty-one factors were identified, related to five axes: medication and infusion form/periodicity; intravascular catheter and dwelling in the same site; fixation of the intravascular catheter; individuals, their habits, communication standard, lifestyle and sensory-motor ability; and professional decisions, institutional policy and procedures. among these, 28 vulnerability factors were identified (score > 0.80). the results evidenced that "risk for vascular trauma" is a new nursing diagnosis, and its clinical validation is suggested.

Abstract: the objective of this study is to assess the difficulties and their causes, in the perception of nurses, to give aid to the old patient bearer oncologic pathology. the study, descriptive, used the critical incident technique to the obtaining and analyzing of data, complied with the ethical. the subjects were nurses, guests, employees of units of cancer care to people aged over 60 years and working in oncology for more than a year. the subjects cited 25 critical incidents, while 9 situations generated negative feelings, 3 positives and 13 with double feelings. it was concluded that nurses who reported interventions of human character, showed positive feelings, recognizing how important their nursing actions were important to offer human assistance.

Abstract: this study aimed to identify the feelings of nursing students in their first contact with patients. the critical incident technique was used for data collection. forty-one students participated in the study and answered a questionnaire with three open questions. feelings related to the student, related to the patient and related to the course were identified, and only 36.8% of reports presented positive feelings. this study contributes to reflect on the proposed teaching plans, negative consequences and the importance of strengthening positive experiences, making students feel more confident, useful, involved and committed with the future profession.

Abstract: in order to evaluate the applicability of a software to the execution of a nursing process of care to burn patients, a case study method has been used. four (4) subjects who had been admitted to a burn unit were evaluated. all the four cases were inserted into a computer program where the plan of nursing care was executed. the software was adequate, enabling the planning of the nursing care in a reduced time.
