Dimens?es da Competência Informacional (2)
Vitorino, Elizete Vieira;Piantola, Daniela;
Ciência da Informa??o , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-19652011000100008
Abstract: this article aims to develop reflections on the dimensions of information literacy, with focus on educational and philosophical aspects, trying to show some developments that now present themselves as a key issue: which dimensions make information literacy an essential issue to the foundations of information science? technical, aesthetic, ethic and political dimensions are analyzed from rios' (2006) theoretical framework, as well as from the research already started and published. the technical dimension is related to the skills and tools to find, evaluate and appropriately use the information that is needed, while the aesthetic dimension derives from the subjectivity implicit in the reception and transmission of informational content, since every action carries a personal content, a specific way of expression, which is configured as an aesthetic form. because the production, dissemination and use of information are closely linked to the involvement of individuals in a community, these processes invariably assume an ethical and political aspect. being ethical, the political activity has an educational function: the transformation of men into citizens. therefore, as citizenship is not built only from the material access to informational content, also including the ability to interpret reality and construct meaning, the identification and analysis of these four dimensions of information literacy allows clarifying complex aspects of information and competence.
Competência informacional - bases históricas e conceituais: construindo significados
Vitorino, Elizete Vieira;Piantola, Daniela;
Ciência da Informa??o , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-19652009000300009
Abstract: recent years have witnessed the increasing interest in studies focused on information literacy, which is reflected mainly in the number of publications on the subject and goes beyond the fields of librarianship and information science. the purpose of this paper is, therefore, to offer an outlook, historical and conceptual, of international researches on information literacy, trying to show some of the different ramifications which the discussion on the subject has exhibited in past few years in countries where its process of legitimation is already well established, in order to illuminate possible areas of research and action for the librarian professional. this research indicates that if the initial studies on this topic tended to be devoted to conceptualize it, discussing its relevance and determine the skills and knowledge related to information literacy, in the last decade can be noticed a proliferation of researches aimed at describing initiatives or proposing models in areas beyond the usual field such as medical sciences, law, politics or computers, among others. the first results of this research refer to a philosophical and educational perspective of information literacy, which suggests the need for deeper understanding and characterization of information literacy in four dimensions: technical, aesthetic, ethical and political, serving both to competence as to information.

Abstract: the society of information has transformed the role of its members as well as has raised new ways of thinking and coping with reality. it has led professionals of all areas to think through their attributions, skills and responsibilities. in this context, school librarians began to rethink their position regarding professional performance, and then, information literacy or informational competence is inserted. this article aims to appraise competence and information competence and to reflect on these two concepts in the school librarian daily life, approaching technical, esthetical, ethical as well as political dimensions, emphasizing that the school librarian competency is analyzed in every dimension.

Agricultural Sciences (AS) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/as.2013.48055
Abstract:

In order to exploit native fish species for aquaculture, basic parameters of artificial reproducetion and estimates of reproductive potential for this fish must be determined to improve hatchery success. We analyze seven Brazilian commercial fish. Spawning was induced using the hypophysation method, with injection of crude carp pituitary extract (CCPE). Characiformes species signaled the spawning time with behavioral alterations (usually circular movements). The time of oocyte extrusion varied from 5.3 ± 0.3 h in Salminus franciscanus to 8.6 ± 0.1 h in Prochilodus argenteus after the second CCPE injection. The greatest diameter of a vitellogenic oocyte was registered for P. argenteus (873.9 ± 122.2 μm) and the smallest was for Pimelodus maculates (465.4 ± 36.3 μm). The diameter of vitellogenic oocytes was very similar among species belonging to the same family. The highest ROI values were registered for Prochilodus costatus(27.0 ± 3.5 μm) and P. argenteus (23.4 ± 3.7 μm), while the lowest values were found in Pseudoplatystoma corruscans (4.6 ± 0.9 μm) and P. maculatus (6.0 ± 1.3 μm). Absolute fecundity (number of oocytes released at spawning) was lowest in P. maculatus and highest in P. corruscans. Relative fecundity (RF) presented a high correlation (r = 0.98 to 0.99) with gonad weight, indicating high efficiency of spawning. The RF also

Pró-Fono Revista de Atualiza??o Científica , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-56872007000100007
Abstract: background: feeding/eating disorders are frequent in pediatric patients and, in some cases, can be associated to an upper digestive motility disorder. gastro-esophageal reflux is, nowadays, considered a risk factor for the development of feeding/eating disorders. aim: to verify the occurrence of feeding/eating disorders in patients with gastro-esophageal reflux disease (gerd) determined by the 24-h esophageal ph monitoring evaluation. method: an analytical observational cross-sectional study of the stomathognatic system and feeding/eating behavior in healthy children and in children with gerd. results: 25 children (ages 45,68 ± 34,22 months; mean ± sd) with the diagnosis of gerd determined by the 24-h esophageal ph monitoring evaluation and 40 children (ages 60,65 ± 36,07 months; mean ± sd) randomized from their school group. the criteria for the ph monitoring were: vomiting, regurgitation, wheezing and recurrent pneumonia. there was no significant difference in age mean between groups. children with gerd presented an significantly higher frequency (p<0.05) of feeding/eating problems (f/ep) and of oral motor-sensory disturbances (sucking, chewing and swallowing). behavioral f/ep was present in 44% of the cases and oral motor-sensory f/ep in 80%. about 64% of the children had a history of feeding/eating complaints, 36% presented an extended feeding/eating time, 68% presented problems in the development of the oral feeding patterns and 60% presented alterations in the nasal breathing pattern. conclusion: children with gerd presented a higher prevalence of behavioral and stomathognatic feeding/eating problems when compared to healthy children.

Abstract: This article intends to analyze the rrepresentations that Anglicans and Baptists built around slavery. The focus of the approach is the Bahia British Church and the Baptist Denomination, situated in Salvador, capital of Bahia, during the period between 1860 and 1890. The Anglicans established themselves in Salvador in the 1820's and the Baptists, originating from Richmond, Virginia in the United States, organized the First Baptist Church of Brazil in 1882. The society of Bahia during this period maintained these slavery relations, which pervaded the economic relations and all the social connections. Despite criticism from English abolitionist societies, the Anglicans were slaveholders and the Baptists in a city of S o Paulo, Santa Bárbara D'Oeste, also owned slaves. The distance between speech and daily practice is made evident by way of the arbitrary division between the spiritual and the material. Besides a moralistic fa ade and the imposition of rites to save the souls of the slaves, the Protestants were incapable of having concrete attitudes and making collective decisions to find a solution for the problem of slavery.
A meritocracia na política educacional brasileira (1930-2000)

Revista Portuguesa de Educa??o , 2009,
Abstract: this study analyzes official education policies in brazil and santa catarina from the 1930?s until today and their impacts on access to elementary and high school education. we sought to characterize our teaching systems as selective from 1930 to 1945, when access to schooling was extremely restricted. from 1946 - 1969, we classified them as differentiated, when the principal of equal opportunity was understood in terms of selection and differentiation. from 1970 -1987, we see them as regulated, when ideological control and preparation for work were priorities. since 1988, a meritocratic policy has been emphasized, as brazilians have effectively conquered the right to education. to try to understand the principal consequences of these legal guidelines on the changes in the access to school, we examine some rates of school participation, particularly in santa catarina.
