Estimates of Tritium Produced Ratio in the Blanket of Fusion Reactors  [PDF]

For the preparation of tritium fuel as the main and rare fuel of reactors in the fusion reactors, the reactor blanket must be designed so that it provides enough tritium breeding ratio. The tritium breeding ratio, TBR, in the blanket of reactors should be greater than one, (TBR > 1), by applying lithium blanket. The calculations for proposed parameters (td , fb , η and tp), indicate that the estimated tritium breeding ratio is greater than one. The calculated TBR = 1.04 satisfies the tritium provision condition.

Abstract: It is very important to understand the nature of digital media and its various categories and the position of this media and modern communication technology in the present social and political interactions. Explaining different kinds of discourses and different principles, theories, and conceptual models of the society along with the role of digital media is one of the most effective tools of information and culture in introducing the political system of Islamic Republic of Iran which is a religious democracy. A religious democracy is one of the aims of this study. In this study, a role of digital media in discourses of Islamic revolution was identified with a descriptive method. Also, there is no boundary in the virtual space. Therefore, relevant articles and studies were published about digital media and virtual diplomacy during the years of 2009 to 2013. Also, some of the relevant scientific books were studied. Digital diplomacy is a new tool in the world, to change attitudes and influence the thinking and beliefs of people today without invasion and war. In this context, digital media, because of the exceptional features like power to influence public opinion, international and cross-border charm and diversity, have great influence on the shaping of social changes and changing discourses. Hence development programs of making discourse using digital media, civil society and the international community can contribute to the development of the religious discourse of democracy. In this article, digital media and their effectiveness and usage in an introductory and discussion process were posed. Since people’s ideas are influenced a lot with digital media, digital media have a lot of effects on forming the social developments and discourse changes. Therefore, developing discourse programs with the use of digital media in internal and international communities can be effective in the development of Islamic revolution discourse.
Bessel Function and Damped Simple Harmonic Motion  [PDF]

A glance at Bessel functions shows they behave similar to the damped sinusoidal function. In this paper two physical examples (pendulum and spring-mass system with linearly increasing length and mass respectively) have been used as evidence for this observation. It is shown in this paper how Bessel functions can be approximated by the damped sinusoidal function. The numerical method that is introduced works very well in adiabatic condition (slow change) or in small time (independent variable) intervals. The results are also compared with the Lagrange polynomial.

The Phenological Stages of Apple Tree in the North Eastern of Iran  [PDF]

The main objective of this study was to evaluate the process of parameters such as mean temperature; total precipitation on phenology and phenological stages of apple golden type in Razavi Khorasan. For this reason, long-term data of absolute minimum daily temperature, precipitation, humidity, as well as Digital Elevation Model (DEM) was used. After collecting data on phenology and Growing Degree Days (GDD) for golden apple, to pass each phenological stage at different growth stages, the start and end dates, phenological stages of the locations were identified. Then, regression equations with variable longitude, latitude and altitude on SPSS software at level of 50% and 95%, respectively were used, and finally phenological stages and spatial distribution maps of temperature and precipitation variables based on these equations were drawn in ARC GIS software. The analysis of the phenological stages showed that Torbate Heydarieh station has a decreasing trend which is significant at 1% in all stages of phenology and Ghoochan station does not show any significant increase or decrease trend at all stages of phenology.
Transmission over Cognitive Radio Channel with Novel Secure LT Code  [PDF]

With the increasing of communication applications in recent years, the demand for radio spectral resources has increased significantly. Cognitive radio scenario was proposed to improve spectrum efficiency in wireless communication systems. In cognitive radio network, it is essential that control information is sent securely and reliably. Ensuring the trustworthiness of the transmitting of spectrum sensing information is important in the CR networks since spectrum sensing directly affects spectrum management and incumbent coexistence. In this paper, the first secondary link channel model is presented, then a secure LT Code is proposed to be compatible with presented channel model and acquires good QoS. As we may know, LT code overcomes packet loss when the channel of the SU is reclaimed by PU. In the new proposed combined encoding and ciphered block, a LT code matrix is used to generate a symmetric cryptographic key. Thus, less complexity observed in the processing computation. Besides, cryptographic key is not sent over the channel. As a result, an attacker has no way to eavesdrop the key unless he is prepared to consider all possible key combinations. This replaced block supplies secure controlling channel and increases spectrum efficiency too.

The Effect of Task Characteristics on IELTS Reading Performance  [PDF]

One of the skills that involve thinking processes is reading. Reading is a skill which allows students to become familiar with other people’s ideas; compare and contrast different ideas; examine and evaluate arguments, interpretations, beliefs, or theories; make inferences, predictions, or interpretations; and explore implications and consequences. In essence, reading is a skill that compels students to think critically. Thus, the present study aims to investigate the effects of task characteristics on the learners’ performance in the reading section of IELTS. To accomplish the purpose of the research, a sample of 50 male and female students participated in this study. In order to ensure the homogeneity of the participants and determine the participants’ reading proficiency level, a reading part of the IELTS test was conducted at the outset of the study. Based upon the results, 30 participants were selected to be included within this study. Next, five IELTS tests were given to the participants. The subsequent data was then analyzed using a one-way ANOVA and the Sheffe test. Data revealed that participants performed differently on the IELTS test due to different task types given as a treatment. The results suggest that task characteristics have a significant effect on IELTS reading test performance.

The Role of Religious Orientation, Psychological Well-Being, and Self-Esteem in Iranian EFL Learners’ Language Achievement  [PDF]

Abstract: The present study aimed at finding the relationship of religious orientation (RO), psychological well-being (PWB), and self-esteem (SE) with language achievement (LA) among Iranian EFL learners. Furthermore, it investigated the predictability of dependent variable (LA) using all independent and predictor variables (RO, PWB, and SE). 126 senior and junior students majoring in English Translation and English Literature at Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman participated in the study. To obtain the required data, three questionnaires were utilized: Allport and Ross’s (1967) Intrinsic-Extrinsic Religious Orientation Scale (IEROS) to measure extrinsic and intrinsic religious orientations, Short Measurement of Psychological Well-Being by Clarke, Marshall, Ryff, and Wheaton (2001) to measure psychological well-being, and finally, The Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale by Rosenberg (1965) to assess self-esteem. Moreover, participants’ GPAs in major courses were used as indicators of their language achievement. For analysis of data, Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Regression analysis were used. The results revealed that there was a significant positive relationship between IRO, PWB, and SE with LA and a significant negative relationship between ERO and LA. Additionally, all the independent variables together could predict LA and accounted for 95 percent of variability of students’ GPA.
The Development and Application of an Indirect ELISA Test for the Detection of Chicken Anaemia Virus (CAV) by VP1 in Chicken Flock Serum  [PDF]

Chicken anaemia virus (CAV) causes a viral disease in chickens worldwide and thus has economic importance. The main aim of this study was to develop a rapid, sensitive and specific VP1-CAVI indirect ELISA for the detection of CAV infection. The CAV-VP1, was separately cloned and expressed in recombinant E. coli. The purified recombinant CAV-VP1 protein was then coated as an antigen on an ELISA plates to evaluate its reactivity against chicken sera. The resulting indirect ELISA was then compared with a commercial ELISA. The specificity and sensitivity of the indirect ELISA were measured as 93.3% and 100%, respectively. A t-test produced a t-value of 15.805 for the indirect ELISA and revealed a significant difference between CAV-positive serum and CAV-negative serum (p-value of 0.001). For the second variable (i.e., a commercial ELISA), the t-test yielded a t-value of 5.063, which revealed a significant difference between CAV-positive serum and CAV-negative serum (p-value of 0.015). This intervention produces statistically significant improvements in both variables (p-values < 0.05). The correlation coefficient for the indirect ELISA was r = 0.93. Therefore, this work can be considered as a new achievement in diagnosis for Chicken anaemia virus in chicken flocks.

Power Quality Study of an Isolated Northwest Grid of Saudi Arabia with PV and Storage  [PDF]

Abstract: One main concern of power quality is harmonics because the distorted waveforms of current and voltage have a huge effect on electrical equipment. Due to the continuous increase of grid connected photovoltaic (PV) and nonlinear loads, as a result of the fast development and growth of power electronics application, power quality becomes more important since it introduces harmonics to the power system. This paper presents a power quality study to the isolated northwest grid of Saudi Arabia in presence of PV system and battery storage. Moreover, the study includes nonlinear loads for more analysis regarding harmonics penetration and the design procedure for passive filters to eliminate the harmonics.

Abstract: In this review, single-chain fragment variable construction using phage-display technology as a promising anticancer immunotherapy technology is described. Cloning and the specific bio-panning selection with phage display technology, as well as the use of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) at the surface of MCF-7 cells as the antigen for the straightforward specific selection of single chain Fvs, are discussed. Moreover, phage display technologies and their application are important for vaccine production and immunotherapy against viruses and cancers. Furthermore, expression of the gene will cause the production and expression of the protein in prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, which can be used to detect anti-cancer single chain fragment variables (scFvs). Finally, homology modelling is described to show the three-dimensional scFv structure that verifies the Complementary-Determining-Regions (CDRs) on the surface of the model.
