Abstract: En la presente nota se dan a conocer las características generales del hallazgo de un entierro en la Quebrada de Los Corrales (El Infiernillo, Tucumán). Se trata de un entierro directo en cista de un único individuo adulto de sexo masculino. Una datación por AMS realizada sobre el mismo arrojó un fechado de ca. 1560 a os AP. Junto a los restos óseos humanos se registró la asociación de dos vasijas asignables a los estilos cerámicos Tafí y Candelaria. In this article the general characteristics of a burial site in the Quebrada de Los Corrales, El Infiernillo, Tucumán, are presented. This is a direct cist burial of an adult male. Características petrográficas y geoquímicas de la Tonalita La Ovejería, borde oriental de la Sierra del Aconquija, Tafí del Valle, Tucumán: integración con la Granodiorita El Infiernillo

Abstract: it is located just south of the larger, and probably genetically related, el infiernillo granodiorite . the studied pluton has a zoning determined by different grain sizes and mineralogies: the northern outcrops are medium-grained and composed of plagioclase, quartz scarce microcline, and biotite and pistacite (± tourmaline) as major accessories; the southern part of the intrusive is fine grained and composed of plagioclase, quartz scarce microcline, and biotite and sphene as accessory minerals. two meter thick granitic dikes cross-cut the tonalites. the tonalite is calc-alkaline and peraluminous, with an asi between 1.10 and 1.48. it intrudes metamorphic basement rocks composed of low grade schists that are characterized by an increase in static metamorphism, by syntectonic intrusions and by the intensity of flow folds. the emplacement of the la ovejería tonalite probably occurred during the lower paleozoic and was structurally controlled by the tafi megafracture, like the other intrusive bodies of the area. the el infiernillo intrusive is composed of a two-mica (± tourmaline) equigranular granodiorite main facies and a biotite and epidote bearing (without primary muscovite) tonalitic border facies. according to field relations and petrographic, geochemical and structural data, the la ovejería tonalite may correspond to the northern border facies of the el infiernillo intrusive.

Abstract: The La Ovejería Tonalite is a N-S elo ngated body that crops out on the eastern side of the Sierra del Aconquija, west of of Tafi del Valle, Tucumán Province, Argentina. It is located just south of thelarger, and probably genetically related, El Infiernillo Granodiorite. The studied pluton has a zoning determined by different grain sizes and mineralogies: the northern outcrops are medium-grained and composed of plagioclase, quartz scarce microcline, and biotite and pistacite (± tourmaline) as major accessories; the southern part of the intrusive is fine grained and composed of plagioclase, quartz scarce microcline, and biotite and sphene as accessory minerals. Morphometric and genetic characterization of tilapia (Cichlidae: Tilapiini) stocks for effective fisheries management in two mexican reservoirs

Abstract: several tilapia species were introduced to the infiernillo dam during the 1960's. following this introduction of tilapia, the dam has been an important fish production site in mexico. however, recent decreases in tilapia catches suggest that fish management strategies and tilapia exploitation practices need to be revised. to date, management practices are limited by the lack of methods to evaluate the status of these introduced species. here we morphometrically characterized two genera and three species from two sites in the infiernillo dam and a site in the zicuiran dam. the samples were characterized for 14 allozyme loci and two mitochondrial dna-rflp markers, rws and cytochrome b. based on these morphological and genetic markers, we identified tilapia rendalli and oreochromis aureus in the infiernillo dam, and oreochromis mossambicus at the zicuiran reservoir. these species were separated into genera based on differences in the number of predorsal scales and the pharyngeal teeth morphology. for oreochromis, they were further classified into species using six morphometric variables. the allozyme and mtdna-rflp results are concordant with the morphological differences. furthermore, two populations of o. aureus in the infiernillo dam appear genetically and morphologically distinct. the levels of genetic variability (he = 0.0567-0.2299 and h = 0.0000-0.4848) are low compared to properly managed tilapia populations. given the levels of variation in these populations, we suggest sustainable genetic management strategies.

Abstract: strombocactus corregidorae s. arias et e. sanchez, from the infiernillo canyon, in the moctezuma river, at the border between the mexican states of querétaro and hidalgo, is described and illustrated. it differs from s. disciformis by its massive body, larger, strong, thick, persistent, black-gray spines, yellow flower, seeds with flat periclinal wall cells, finely reticulate micro-relief, and hilum-micropylar region not covered by a strophiole. an identification key to strombocactus species, based on stem, flower, and seed characters is included.

Varias especies de tilapias fueron introducidas a la presa El Infiernillo durante los a os sesenta del siglo pasado. Posterior a dichas introducciones, la presa ha sido uno de los sitios importantes de producción nacional para peces. Sin embargo, bajas recientes en las capturas, sugieren que las estrategias de manejo y las prácticas de explotación requieren de ser revisadas. Hasta ahora, dichas prácticas de manejo están limitadas por la falta de métodos para evaluar el status de dichas especies introducidas. En éste trabajo se caracterizan morfométricamente dos géneros y tres especies de dos sitios en la presa El Infiernillo y de un sitio de la presa Zicuirán. Las muestras fueron caracterizadas con 14 loci aloenzimáticos y dos marcadores mitocondriales ADN-RFLP, rWS y citocromo b. Basados en estos marcadores morfológicos y genéticos, se identificó a Tilapia rendalli y Oreochromis aureus en la presa El Infiernillo y a Oreochromis mossambicus para Zicurán. Las especies se separaron en dos géneros en base a diferencias en el número de escamas

Abstract: Se describe e ilustra Strombocactus corregidorae S. Arias et E. Sánchez, nueva especie del ca ón del Infiernillo, en el río Moctezuma, en los límites del estado de Querétaro con Hidalgo. Difiere de S. disciformis por presentar cuerpos más prominentes, con espinas de mayor tama o, rígidas, gruesas, persistentes y de color negro grisáceo, flores amarillas, así como semillas con células de paredes periclinales planas, microrrelieve finamente reticulado y la región hilo-micropilar no está cubierta por un estrofíolo. Se incluye una clave taxonómica para la identificación de las especies de Strombocactus , con base en caracteres del tallo, flor y la semilla. Strombocactus corregidorae S. Arias et E. Espectro trófico de la tilapia Oreochromis aureus (Perciformes: Cichlidae) en la presa Infiernillo, Michoacán-Guerrero, México

Abstract: the trophic spectrum of tilapia oreochromis aureus (steindachner 1864), was determined by stomach content analysis in 153 organisms collected during 1993 in michoacán-guerrero, méxico. the feeding status of the fish at the time of observation was evaluated by the examination of fat surrounding the gut, gastric replection and the condition coefficient. the quantitative evaluation of the food items was carried out by the combination of the following analysis: frequency of occurrence, volumetric method, volumetric mean index and relative importance index. diet consisted of: detritus and vascular plant residues as a primary food; unicellular algae as secondary food; and remains of insects and fish, gramineae seed, filamentous algae, cladocerans, ostracods, rotifers and copepods as occasional food. we detected a difference in food preferences between juveniles and adults and a variation in the consumption proportions of some food items during the rainy and dry seasons. thus, we concluded that o. aureus is an omnivorous species with preference for detritus and vascular plant remain. feeding seems to be determined by the abundance of food items found in the habitat and adults showed a trend to eat only detritus. feeding does not seem to be a limiting factor in the development of the tilapia in infiernillo dam.
Espectro trófico de la tilapia Oreochromis aureus (Perciformes: Cichlidae) en la presa Infiernillo, Michoacán-Guerrero, México

Abstract: Se determinó el espectro trófico de la tilapia Oreochromis aureus (Steindachner 1864), a través del análisis del contenido estomacal de una muestra de 153 especímenes recolectados durante 1993. El estado de alimentación se evaluó por la proporción de grasa alrededor del estómago e intestino, la replexión gástrica y el coeficiente de condición. La evaluación cuantitativa del alimento, se realizó a través de los métodos Volumétrico (V) y Frecuencia de Aparición (FA) y los Indices Medio Volumétrico (IMV) e Importancia Relativa (IIR), los cuales se combinaron para determinar el espectro trófico de la tilapia. Se determinó que su dieta en la presa Infiernillo está constituida por: detritus y plantas vasculares como alimentos preferentes; algas unicelulares como alimento secundario y peces, insectos, semillas de gramíneas, algas filamentosas, cladóceros, ostrácodos, rotíferos y copépodos, como alimentos ocasionales. Se detectaron diferencias alimentarias entre juveniles y adultos y variaciones en el consumo de elementos alimentarios en la época de secas y lluvias. Se concluye que Oreochromis aureus es una especie omnívora con preferencia hacia el detritus y los restos de plantas vasculares. La alimentación esta determinada por la abundancia de las presas en el medio y en los adultos se basa preferentemente en el detritus. La alimentación no es un factor que limite el desarrollo de la tilapia en la presa Infiernillo.
