Passos, Eduardo Henrique;Souza, Tadeu Paula;
Psicologia & Sociedade , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-71822011000100017
Abstract: harm reduction (hr) has been consolidated as an important national movement, promoting the building of a democratic drug policy. in this article we will highlight how hr has been shaped in the face of clashes with totalitarian forces of the "war on drugs" global policy. we will focus on both international and national aspects that came together to build an anti-drug policy. it is within this political scenario that hr is consolidating itself as a different and feasible drug policy. we intend to show the extent to which the inclusion of drug users in collective arrangements of management is an important clinical and political direction of the hd movement, defining a new proposal for health care. from these collective spaces of care, drug users have been able to weave a national network of cooperation and production of a common struggle.
O conceito de incerteza aplicado aos processos de medi??o associados à prepara??o de uma solu??o de referência para calibra??o

Abstract: the implementation of a quality assurance program in chemical analytical laboratories, that can aid in demonstrate the quality of their results, is an issue of great concern. as a consequence, it is mandatory to give an estimate of the confidence that can be placed on the obtained results. an useful measure of this confidence is the measurement uncertainty and, nowadays, a result without the corresponding uncertainty statement cannot be considered reliable. this paper presents a summary of the most important mechanisms for the evaluation and reporting of the measurement uncertainty. in implementing these principles, it is described the measurement uncertainty estimation associated with the preparation of a uranium elemental reference solution at 2.4 mg.kg-1 from the corresponding certified reference material (in this example at 1003 mg.kg-1).

Abstract: given the scarcity of information in the literature and the importance of a proper management of organic waste in agriculture, this paper evaluated the effects of applying residues of the guava processing industry to an ultisol, by evaluating changes in soil chemical properties, in the nutritional status of guava plants and fruit production. the residue rates applied in the orchard were established according to the residue n content and evaluated in a randomized block design with four replications, and the rates of the (ground) residue were: zero, 9, 18, 27 and 36 t ha-1 (dry weight). three residue applications were made: in 2006, 2007 and 2008. the residue of the guava processing industry increased soil p concentration, and the guava plants showed increased leaf levels of n, ca, mg and mn, and fruit production was positively and significantly affected in the third year of the experiment.

Abstract: The spraying of herbicides in crops has become the main form of weed control. Although it means unexpected effects on non-target plants resulted by spraying drift. Thus, improvements in application techniques, as the best selection of spray nozzles and adjuvant, are essential to avoid environmental contamination and economic losses. On this work, we evaluate how much adjuvant associated with nozzles can reduce the spray drift. The nozzles used at experiment were air induction flat tip, hollow cone and twinjet and the spray liquids, which were composed of herbicide glyphosate and phosphatidylcholine + propionic acid adjuvant. Measurements were made at wind tunnel and droplet sizer, at laser diffraction method. The models of nozzles influence in droplet size characteristics and in occurrence of spray drift. The use of adjuvants reduces the spray drift only combined with the twinjet nozzle, while for the other models the adjuvant did not reduce the global spray drift at significant levels. The adjuvant reduced the spray drift until 39%, while the nozzles model reduced until 74%. Both techniques when combined were able to reduce until 80%. The model of nozzle has the biggest result on drift mitigation and the use of adjuvants can increase the drift mitigation specially with nozzles that produces smallest droplets.

Abstract: Generally being considered as a safe area for surgical approaches, the region between the mental foramina presents important anatomical structures. The objective of this study was to measure the dimensions of the genial plexus and its three-dimensional location in CBCT images, correlating the characteristics of this structure with dental presence, sex and age of patients. A total of 149 cone beam computer tomography (CBCT) scans of dentate (n = 74) and edentulous patients (n = 75) were selected, 59 male and 90 female, aged 18 - 86 years. Measurements of width and length of the genial canal were performed, and the shortest distances of the genial plexus were determined in relation to the alveolar bone crest, the buccal cortical bone and the base of the mandible. The results indicated significant differences between the dentate and edentulous groups for the mandibular canal length (p = 0.030), distance from alveolar crest (p < 0.001), and distance from buccal cortical bone (p < 0.001), with significantly higher values in dentate patients. As for gender, the distances between the genial plexus and the alveolar bone crest (p < 0.001) and the buccal cortical bone (p = 0.028) were significantly shorter for females. Regarding age, only the distance between the genial plexus and the alveolar crest showed a significant difference (p < 0.001), and the smallest values were measured in the older patients. It can be concluded that there are variations of the genial plexus in relation to gender, age and between edentulous and dentate patients. Therefore, the anterior region of the mandible, especially the midline should be observed with caution when undergoing surgical procedures, such as removal of bone grafts and installation of dental implants.

Abstract: a better understanding of the differences between the levels of nutrients, depending on the type of pruning used in the cultivation of the guava tree, may allow a more adequate understanding of the physiological processes of this fruit. the analysis of flowers is a tool that can be used to assist in assessing the nutritional status of crops, especially perennials. we evaluated the effects of different types of pruning on nutrient concentrations in flowers and fruit, at different developmental stages and in different parts of the fruit. the study was carried out in vista alegre do alto, in orchards of guava variety paluma. flowers and fruit were collected in orchards, one under heavy pruning and the other with continuous pruning. the fruit were collected in two stages (two millimeters length and mature) and divided into basal part and apex, with the top toward the stalk. flowers were collected in the same orchards as the fruits, sampling the basal part and apex of the flowers. f tests were performed and, when necessary, the scott-knott test at a = 5%. overall, there were nutritional differences among flowers and fruits in relation to the type of pruning employed; drastic pruning provided higher levels of nutrients compared with continuous pruning. in relation to the portion of the samples, especially for fruit, there were differences between the apex and base, as well as between different stages of fruit collection.
