Paradigma Deese-Roediger-McDermott: efeito da evoca??o prévia e tipo de tarefa de memória
Pimentel, Eduarda;Albuquerque, Pedro B.;
Psicologia: Teoria e Pesquisa , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-37722011000300007
Abstract: this study aimed to verify whether the activation of critical items in the deese-roediger-mcdermott paradigm of producing false memories could also occur in the word stem completion task. the finding that the level of processing did not seem to have any effect on the word stem completion task supported the conclusion that the stem completion task was in fact an implicit memory test. the impact of a previous recall in a following memory task was also evaluated. the results indicated that the previous recall inhibited the effect of the processing level in the recognition task. in the word stem completion task the increase of stems completed with associates was only relevant when words were encoded superficially.

Psicologia USP , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-65642007000400008
Abstract: false memories have been widely studied using an experimental procedure called drm paradigm (deese/roediger/mcdermott). this paradigm produces memory illusions due to the presentation of lists of words associated to a critical nonpresented word. one line of research on this topic aims at identifying the moment when the false memories are created and the explanation of the mechanisms underling false memories. in this paper we present a review about the effect of level-of-processing and the nature of memory task for the boost or inhibition of false memories created by means of lists of semantic associates.

Open Journal of Veterinary Medicine (OJVM) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/ojvm.2018.84006
Abstract: This report describes a case of cardiomyopathy associated with excessive moderator bands in a 7 years old cat. In the cat echocardiography examination was observed cardiomegaly, decreased systolic function and thinning of the left ventricle wall. The electrocardiogram showed the occurrence of supraventricular tachycardia. The treatment was initiated with digoxin, furosemide and taurine supplementation, with an improvement of the clinical signs, however the animal died in a fall. The diagnosis of cardiomyopathy associated with excessive moderator band, was based on the multiple cardiac bunds which connect the septum to the free wall of the left ventricle observed in the cat necropsy.

Abstract: The aim of this study was to determine the participation of risk factors in the infection in patients who underwent total knee arthroplasty. This is a prospective longitudinal study, descriptive and analytical, that was carried out between January 2013 and December 2015. Eighty-one procedures were performed in 78 individuals, 16 males and 62 females. Three subjects underwent the procedure on both knees. The following predictive factors of infection were identified: Age, gender, comorbidities, evaluation of functional physical status using the American Society of Anesthesiologists Physical Status Classification System (ASAPS), length of hospital stay, use of prophylactic antibiotics and duration of surgery. The data was tabulated in a database using a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. For statistical analysis, the chi-square test, chi-square test for independence and Fischer’s exact test were applied, all at a significance level of 5% (0.05). Surgical site infection was more prevalent in males (23.5%), age over 70 years (25.0%), for left gonarthrosis (17.9%), in the presence of comorbidities (17.9%), when hospital stay was 6 or more days (27.8%), in total arthroplasties of left knee (17,9%), in surgical times of up to 2 hours (20%), in the use of prophylactic antibiotics (16.7%) and in level II classification in the ASAPS (18.8%). The independence test was not significant in any of the evaluated factors (p-value greater than 0.05). The most prevalent bacteria identified in cases of infection was Staphylococcus aureus (33.2%). The risk factors studied were not statistically significant.

Carvalho, Eduardo Freese de;Cesse, Eduarda ?ngela Pessoa;Albuquerque, Maria Ilk Nunes de;Albuquerque, Luciana Caroline;Dubeux, Luciana Santos;
Revista Brasileira de Saúde Materno Infantil , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S1519-38292005000500006
Abstract: abstract objectives: to evaluate epidemiological surveil-lance (es) and its specifics management at municipal level. methods: eleven municipalities were selected in the state of pernambuco, brazil, based on the geographical, demographic and management criteria. the level of implementation was estimated by way of interviews with key-players at three levels of es: the headquarters, family health units (fhus) and traditional health units (thus), laying emphasis on features relating to infrastructure and the work process. points were assigned for the selected variables, which, taken as a whole, allowed for classification of es as: fully introduced, partially introduced, or not introduced. in order to evaluate management, the eleven municipal health secretaries were interviewed. results: es was found to have been fully introduced in only 27% of municipalities and partially introduced in 45%, having a better structure in larger-scale municipalities where there is full management of the municipal system. in these, of the three levels studied, it was found that the central level showed the greatest weaknesses, and that the fhus performed better than the thus. so far as management is concerned, although all the municipalities were certified to carry out es activities, it was found that there are significant obstacles to its effective introduction. conclusions: es still has shortcomings that hamper its full introduction at municipal level.

Arquivos Brasileiros de Cardiologia , 2000,
Abstract: OBJECTIVE: To report and assess the incidence of cardiac tamponade in systemic lupus erythematosus as a cardiac manifestation of the disease. METHODS: We reviewed the medical records of 325 patients diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus according to the American Rheumatism Association and their complementary laboratory tests compatible with cardiac tamponade. RESULTS: In the 325 medical recors reviewed, we found 108 patients with pericardial effusions corresponding to 33.2% of the total and 54% of the patients studied in the active phase of the disease. Clinical assessment and transthoracic echocardiogram allowed the clinical diagnosis of cardiac tamponade in only 4 (1.23%) patients, 3 of whom were females, white, with ages ranging from 25 to 44 years. The pericardial fluid was hemorrhagic or serosanguineous with high levels of FAN and positivity for LE cells. In the treatment, we successfully used pericardicentesis associated with high doses of corticosteroids. In clinical and laboratory follow-up performed for a period of 3 years, neither recrudescence of the pericardial effusion nor evolution to constriction occurred. CONCLUSION: Even though rare (1.23%), cardiac tamponade in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus has a benign evolution when properly treated, according to our experience.
Uma aproxima??o semantica aos conceitos de urbano, rural e cooperativa
Albuquerque, Francisco José Batista de;Pimentel, Carlos Eduardo;
Psicologia: Teoria e Pesquisa , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-37722004000200010
Abstract: when it comes to the planning of public policies linked to the rural development, finding a definition of concepts of rural and urban environments and also of cooperative becomes essentially important. considering that psychology has barely little contributed to the rural development, this study aimed at identifying the meanings which are socially given to the mentioned concepts. with a sample of 318 high school students from paraíba (brazil), it was observed that the rural construct conveyed meanings essentially related to the rural atmosphere; the urban environment was conceived as being the opposite of rural and the concept of cooperative carried a positive meaning, having within it words like 'help' and 'union'. critical thoughts over the policies for the rural development are urged and so are further studies in the area which may contribute to clarify aspects related to the development of proposals for the rural environment in its totality. the review of some concepts is provided and also the evaluation of some government actions through public policies.
On the complexity-performance trade-off in soft-decision decoding for unequal error protection block codes
Rebecca C de Albuquerque, Daniel C Cunha and Cecilio Pimentel
EURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing , 2013, DOI: 10.1186/1687-6180-2013-28
Abstract: Unequal error protection (UEP) codes provide a selective level of protection for different blocks of the information message. The effectiveness of two sub-optimum soft-decision decoding algorithms, namely generalized Chase-2 and weighted erasure decoding, is evaluated in this study for each protection class of UEP block codes. The performances of both algorithms are compared to that of the maximum likelihood algorithm in order to evaluate the performance loss of each protection class provided by less complex algorithms as well as their complexities are evaluated according to the number of arithmetic operations performed at each decoding step. Finally, numerical results and examples are provided which indicate that a trade-off between performance and complexity for each protection class is obtained. The results of this study can be used to select appropriate UEP coding and decoding schemes in applications that demand low energy consumption.
