Abstract: this article presents some aspects of two theories of psychological development created from the viewpoint of the dialectical materialism: those of henri wallon and of lev vygotsky. the work argues that the fact that both these authors developed their theories from the same philosophical roots inspires important approximations between them. among the aspects shared by these theories the text highlights: the refusal to frame the psychological development within rigid schemes following a linear logic; the idea that human psyche has been and continues to be historically produced by men themselves inside relations they establish with each other and with nature; the defense they promote of the constitutive, and therefore positive, nature of conflicts and oscillation between critical and stable periods that characterize psychological development; and, particularly, the fact that both authors emphasize that an adequate understanding of development requires the analysis of this process in its internal essence, that is, an analysis of the conditionings of the external symptoms of psychological development. regarding the wallonian theory, the article draws attention to the idea that development is characterized by the alternation between cognition and affection, reason and emotion; as to the vygotskyan conception, the text emphasizes that the investigation of psychological development must start from the analysis of a child's activities inside the concrete conditions of his/her life.

Abstract: Este artigo apresenta alguns aspectos de duas teorias de desenvolvimento psicológico elaboradas sob a ótica do materialismo dialético: a de Henri Wallon e a de Lev Vigotski. O trabalho argumenta que o fato de esses autores terem desenvolvido suas pesquisas apoiados na mesma matriz filosófica propicia importantes aproxima es entre eles. Entre os aspectos comuns, o artigo destaca: a recusa em enquadrar o desenvolvimento psicológico em esquemas rígidos, orientados segundo uma lógica linear; a concep o de que o psiquismo humano foi e continua sendo produzido historicamente pelos próprios homens no interior das rela es que estabelecem entre si e com a natureza; a defesa feita por essas duas teorias quanto ao caráter constitutivo, portanto positivo, dos conflitos e alternancias entre períodos críticos e estáveis que caracterizam o desenvolvimento psicológico; e, principalmente, o fato de ambos os autores ressaltarem que uma compreens o adequada do desenvolvimento exige uma análise desse processo em sua essência interna, isto é, uma análise dos condicionantes dos sintomas externos do desenvolvimento psicológico. Especificamente sobre a teoria walloniana, o artigo real a a idéia de que o desenvolvimento é marcado pelas alternancias entre cogni o e afeto e entre raz o e emo o; em rela o à concep o vigotskiana, o texto enfatiza que o estudo do desenvolvimento psicológico deve partir da análise da atividade da crian a tal como ela se apresenta nas condi es concretas de sua vida.
Representations of environment and environmental education: a study with teachers from rural family homes

Abstract: This paper results from a research aimed to analyse the social representations of environment held by teachers who work at Rural Family Homes located in the southwest of Paraná, Brazil. The data were collected using an instrument composed of three parts: the fi rst focused on identifi cation data; the second contained open-ended questions focused on teachers’ conceptions of sustainable development, education and pedagogy of alternation; the third consisted of a free-association question, based on the term environment. The results suggest that the social representation of environment held by the subjects is directly related with their work as rural educators and with the mediation provided by the pedagogy work being conducted according to the alternation pedagogy method. A certain perspective of environmental education that favours the change of people’s behaviour and attitude towards environmental issues could be identifi ed.

Abstract: the pedagogy of alternating consists in a methodology for the organization of schooling that conjugates different formative experiences distributed along distinct times and spaces aiming at a professional education. this method began to take shape in 1935 from the complaints that a small group of french farmers had about the educational system of their country, which in their view did not correspond to the specificities of education for the rural reality. the brazilian experience with the pedagogy of alternating started in 1969 in the state of espírito santo, where the first three escolas famílias agrícolas (agricultural family schools) were built. nevertheless, after 40 years of its implementation in this country, this pedagogical proposal is still little discussed within our academic milieu. in a research project that we have been developing we have conducted a survey of master and doctoral dissertations presented to brazilian universities between 1969 and 2006. the objective of the present article is to discuss this production with a view to draw a first picture of the "state of the art" in this field of investigation. the survey includes 46 works, of which 7 are doctoral theses and 39 are master dissertations. in the text, we present the most recurrent themes of study, the regional distribution of this production, and what we regard as consensual aspects and limitations of these works.

Abstract: The extension of compulsory schooling during the last decades raises to the sociological research on social inequalities in education the need for a questioning on the transformations that have been reconfiguring the complex social processes produced by the development of contemporary educational systems. Based on an approach informed by non-deterministic explicative models, the text tries to understand such frame of complexity and opacity. To accomplish it, and taking as reference the results of a sociological research developed in three school contexts of Lisbon, the text focus on the actions and educational strategies of the families of the researched contexts and demonstrates that traditional oppositions in the relation with school have transformed in a frame of differentiation of school values, attitudes and trajectories

Abstract: The public universities are built according to the aim of developing teaching, research and extension activities. The activities of extension beyond assisting in the formation of the students, they also return to the community the production developed inside the university, in the sense of changing the reality in a positive way. The physical activity is a subject in prominence on the media, especially on its important benefits for the elderly, which happens to be the fastest growing age group. The Department of Physical Education, Institute of Biosciences, S £o Paulo State University (UNESP) at Rio Claro, has been developing an expressive number of extension projects that benefits both the external and internal community. The Program of Physical Activity for the Third Age (PROFIT) is part of these projects and it offers structured physical activity designed for 50-and-plus year-old people. Professors and both undergraduate and graduate students supervise such program. Thus, the aims of this study were to analyze: a) the history of the PROFIT; b) the operational way that the project has been run; c) the evolution of the program, in relation to the number of students who have been volunteered to help out and learn, since the period of its beginning in 1989 up to 2006. The data collection was carried out by searching on the data bank of the project (annual reports). The result of the search shows: a) a growth throughout the years both in the number of trainees (volunteer students) and older people who has been participating; b) such increases seems to demonstrate an efficient operational way to run the project. ‰ poss -vel concluir o PROFIT apresenta um importante papel tanto para a comunidade interna quanto externa colaborando com a UNESP no cumprimento de sua fun § £o transformadora da realidade. In conclusion, the PROFIT seems to play an important function both for the internal and external community, which helps the UNESP to fulfill its duty of transforming the reality in a positive way. Abstract: in this work a learning-teaching methodology consisting of giving the student the task of finding the statement of a problem based on its solution. the solution of a problem involving heat exchangers was given to a group of students. they were asked to analyze the solution and write a statement for the problem. the students performed well and gave different reasonable statements, but some were more concerned with theoretical aspects and others with practical aspects. they failed to redo the calculations used to select the exchangers, which could have affected the choice of the type of exchanger. it is concluded that the methodology is can be used in teaching heat transfer, representing a tool to widen knowledge and better understand the concepts involved in the subject of the problem.

Abstract: data on relative importance of rare and common bee species in some holarctic and neotropical limited sites are presented. the density distribution patterns in samples from all analyzed assemblages is characterized by a relatively large number of species represented by few individuals and few species with large number of individuals, as in most animal communities.
Staphylococcus aureus enterotoxigênico em doces cremosos vendidos em padarias e confeitarias do município de S?o Paulo, Brasil

Abstract: one hundred samples of creamy sweets were collected from 40 bakeries in the city of s. paulo (brazil), for the determination of staphylococcus aureus counts per gram of food. after morphological and biochemical identification, phagetyping was performed and production of enterotoxin verified. of the samples collected 38.0% were positive for staphylococcus aureus. these samples came from 21 (52.5%) of the 40 bakeries. of those positive, 7.0% were positive for enterotoxin, 5.0% for type c, 1.0% type b, and 1.0% type d. of the 76 strains of staphylococcus aureus isolated, 39 (51.5%) could not be classified according to known phagetypes. of the remainder, those lysed by group i phages alone or associated to other groups predominated (21.2% and 35.5% respectively). strains not classified under known phagetypes were isolated from 76.2% of positive establishments.

Abstract: the presence of major antigens, 1, 2 and 3 were determined in 30 strains of b. pertussis isolated from children with whooping-cough hospitalized at the hospital emílio ribas, s?o paulo brazil. the method used was the slide-agglutination test. tests showed that 25(83.3%) of strains were positives for factors 1, 2 and 3. factores 1 and 3 alone were present in 3 (10%) of strains and 1 and 2 alone in 2 (6.7%).
