Investigating the Relation Between Organizational Culture and Excellence Performance Based on EFQM Model in SMEs

Abstract: Current study is to investigate the relationship between organizational culture and excellence performance based on EFQM model in small and medium enterprises of Bandar Abbas (Iran). The study population consisted of 249 managers, deputies and experts in small and medium enterprises based in the industrial towns of Bandar Abbas and 152 of the statistical population using cluster sampling – randomly were selected as sample size. In order to collect data, 2 questionnaires were used. These 2 questionnaires’' were about organizational culture and excellence performance based on EFQM model and their validity and reliability was measured. Analysis of collected data was performed using Pearson correlation test and also describing the collected data, was performed using descriptive statistical methods such as frequency tables and graphs and the frequency histogram by computer and SPSS software. Result of the study showed that there is a significant relationship between different kinds of organizational culture and excellence performance based on EFQM model. Finally, limitations on this project and suggestions for further studies have been presented
Performance Evaluation Based on EFQM Excellence Model in Sport Organizations

Abstract: The present study aims to evaluate the performance of physical education (P.E.) general office of Tehran province through model of European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM). Questionnaire approach was used in this study. Therefore validity of the 50-item EFQM questionnaire verified by the experts and the reliability also calculated in a pilot study (α=0.928). 95 questionnaires distributed between subjects (N=n) and 80 questionnaires returned and concluded in the statistical analysis. From nine EFQM criteria, the highest scores were gained in key performance results (37.62%) and the lowest gained in people results (27.94%). Totally, this organization achieved 337.11 pointes out of a total of 1000. Additionally, there was a strong relationship (r=0.827, p=0.001) between enablers and results (P<0.05). Based on scores gained in the criteria, improving measures in all criteria is essential for this organization, especially in the people criterion from enablers and people results criterion from results domain. Furthermore, it is believed that the physical education area is one of the best fields for application of the excellence model towards the performance excellence and gaining better results and hence, it seems that the model has a high potential in responding to problems commonly seen in sport sector.
Using the EFQM excellence model to the process assessment

Abstract: Purpose: The aim of this paper is showing the EFQM Excellence Model approach. In this paper it was introduced the usage of the EFQM Excellence Model not only in the whole organization but also in the selected processes in the company.Design/methodology/approach: In the frames of own research it has been assessed the selected production process according to the criteria of the EFQM Excellence Model.Findings: The investigated company used the EFQM Excellence Model as a diagnostic tool for assessing the selected process. The best result was obtained in the criteria: Customer Results and the worst in: Society Results. Through this approach the organisation is better able to balance its priorities, allocate resources and generate realistic business plans.Research limitations/implications: The EFQM Excellence Model is a practical tool that can be used in a number of different ways, also as a tool for the process assessment.Practical implications: Own research clearly showed, how to conduct self-assessment in the selected process.Originality/value: The paper provides steps in self-assessment methodology for all who wish to measure achievements and strengths and also identify improvement opportunities in the process.

Abstract: schools in portugal are in the public eye due to the growing importance of their assessment as working basis for the so desired autonomy. however, the assessment conducted by the schools themselves (i.e., self-assessment) only now starts to take its first steps. this paper discusses the theme of school assessment with the objective to provide a useful resource to management boards and teachers who need to assess their schools. the fundamentals of school assessment are revisited and the concepts of quality in education are introduced, followed by a discussion of how the excellence model of the european foundation for quality management can be successfully adapted to self-assessment of schools. the main argument is that the assessment is a necessary condition for improving the quality of schools. it is also argued that this model can play an important role in the design of self-assessment instruments for the schools.
Structural Equation Modeling Analysis between Enabler and Results in EFQM Model; a Case Study in Vocational Training Corporation in Jordan

Abstract: In order to achieve excellence, organizations need to be aware of the impact of the individual criteria on each other and also the analysis of relationships between Enabler criteria and Results criteria. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the relationships between Enablers and Results in the EFQM Excellence Model applied in a Vocational Training Corporation (VTC) in Jordan. To this end, all the EFQM model data of the Vocational Training Corporation (VTC) was collected. Research method used for this article is descriptive, where Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used to assess the relations between the criteria. The results confirm the previous findings and shows that Enablers are strongly related to the Results. All the Enabler criteria contribute to Results improvements, so a balanced approach in the development of Enabler criteria allows organizations to obtain an optimal gain from the implementation of the EFQM Excellence Model.

Abstract: This contribution aims to present the self-assessment system, developed at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering VSB-TUOstrava during the application of Quality Management System [Farana 2008] and TQM System, based on the effective use of the EFQMExcellence Model [Hutyra 2004] and compare it with the self evaluation process at the Queen Mary, University of London. Main partsare questionnaires for students in different periods of the educational process. It sheds light on the instrument that aims to understandthe students' experience and to identify how much of the growth and development can be attributed to the quality university experiencethat the institution provides for its students.
12 Years of the National Quality Award of the Slovak Republic

Abstract: The objective of the article is to present twelve years of the National Quality Award of the Slovak Republic, survey results of the awarded organisations and their benefits for the success of the organisation. The basis is previous knowledge of recognition based on the EFQM Excellence Model and CAF Model in the Slovak Republic. The questionnaire survey has been used completed with respondent’s allegation. The aim of the survey was to gain proposals for improvements for the following annual sets of the National Quality Awards of the Slovak Republic to raise quality awareness and competitiveness of Slovak private and public organisations. The following findings were main conclusions. The most effective way of how to approach potential competition participants it to approach them with a direct email information. Expectations of most organisations entering the competition have been met. The quality model implementation and site visit based recommendations were main benefits of participating in the competition that resulted in success and added value in different areas of the organisation and its performance. Organisations that have an experience of at least one year participation in the competition claim its importance. It is also confirmed by the fact that organisations that became winners of its category in the past, backtrack to the competition after three and more years to benchmark their improvements and advancement. The competition is a strong tool that is able to assist an organisation on its journey to success and excellence.
Performance Evaluation of Rajaei Hospital Based on EFQM Organizational Excellence Model

Abstract: Background and Aim: Organizations have to establish modern management systems to progress and to obtain maturity. One of the techniques which started in Europe in the last two decades and is considered in management area of country during recent years is the model of organizational promotion (EFQM). The purpose of this study was Performance Evaluation of Rajaei Hospital Based on EFQM Organizational Excellence Model.Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in year 2010 in Qazvin Rajai Hospital. Data collection tool, was EFQM organization Excellence Model questionnaire which was completed by all the managers. Validity and reliability of questionnaire was calculated. Results were analyzed using descriptive statistics.Results: Results indicated that this hospital has acquired 99.183 scores out of 500 in enablers factor(88.36 percent of optimum score). Also has gained 183.71 scores out of 500 (36/75 percent of optimum score). Overall, this hospital has obtained 366.7 scores out of 1000 as the total score in the model for performance evaluation in year 2010.Conclusion: Findings indicated that based on Excellence model criteria, this hospital is in a moderate level. Applying this model for Iranian hospitals which often meet serious problems in this area is informative and practical. Strong systematic view, paying attention to organizational process-based management and being result-oriented are advantageous of using this model.

Abstract: Introduction: Realm of health care that organizations have faced in recent years has been described with high level of dynamism and development. To survive in such conditions, performance evaluation can have an effective role in satisfying proper quality for services. This study aimed to evaluate the performance of Shahid Sadoghi Yazd hospital through EFQM approach. Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study. Data collection instrument was EFQM organization Excellence Model questionnaire which was completed by all the managers. The research data was gathered from a sample of 302 patients, staff, personnel and medical staff working in different parts of the hospital. Random stratified samples were selected and descriptive statistics were utilized in order to analyze the data. Results: The results revealed that Shahid Sadoughi hospital acquired 185.41 points out of the total 500 points considered in the model EFQM. In other words, the rating reflects the fact that regarding the defined desired position, the hospital has not achieved the desired rating. Conclusion: Since the hospital performance is posited in a low-middle class, much more attention is required in regard to therapeutic management in this hospital. Therefore, codifying an efficient and effective program to improve the hospital performance is necessary. Furthermore, it seems that EFQM model can be considered as a comprehensive model for performance evaluation in hospitals.
