Quasi Exact Solution of the Fisher Equation  [PDF]

Abstract: We propose an accurate non numerical solution of the Fisher Equation (FE), capable of reproducing the known analytical solutions and those obtained from a numerical analysis. The form we propose is based on educated guesses concerning the possibility of merging diffusive and logistic behavior into a single formula.

Abstract: We comment on the exponential parameterization of the quark mixing matrix, by stressing that it naturally incorporates the Cabibbo structure and the hierarchical features of the Wolfenstein form. We extend our results to the neutrino mixing and introduce an exponential generator of the tribimaximal matrix.

Abstract: The generalized complex numbers can be realized in terms of $2\times2$ or higher-order matrices and can be exploited to get different ways of looking at the trigonometric functions. Since Chebyshev polynomials are linked to the power of matrices and to trigonometric functions, we take the quite natural step to discuss them in the context of the theory of generalized complex numbers. We also briefly discuss the two-variable Chebyshev polynomials and their link with the third-order Hermite polynomials.

Abstract: We consider different generalizations of the Euler formula and discuss the properties of the associated trigonometric functions. The problem is analyzed from different points of view and it is shown that it can be formulated in a natural way in algebraic and geometric terms.

Abstract: The Humbert-Bessel are multi-index functions with various applications in electromagnetism. New families of functions sharing some similarities with Bessel functions are often introduced in the mathematical literature, but at a closer analysis they are not new, in the strict sense of the word, and are shown to be expressible in terms of already discussed forms. This is indeed the case of the re-modified Bessel functions, whose properties have been analyzed within the context of coincidence problems in probability theory. In this paper we show that these functions are particular cases of the Humbert-Bessel ones.

Abstract: We explore the possibility of operating a SASE FEL with a Storage Ring. We use a semi-analytical model to obtain the evolution inside the undulator by taking into account the interplay on the laser dynamics due to the induced energy spread and to the radiation damping. We obtain the Renieri's limit for the stationary output power and discuss the possibility of including in our model the effect of the beam instabilities.

Abstract: Integro-differential methods, currently exploited in calculus, provide an inexhaustible source of tools to be applied to a wide class of problems, involving the theory of special functions and other subjects. The use of integral transforms of the Borel type and the associated formalism is shown to be a very effective mean, constituting a solid bridge between umbral and operational methods. We merge these different points of view to obtain new and efficient analytical techniques for the derivation of integrals of special functions and the summation of associated generating functions as well.

Abstract: This article discusses the representations of higher education teaching practice according to the students’ perspective. The sample comprised 393 students and 14 professors of three universities of Santa Catarina State in Brazil that traditionally conferred degrees upon professionals of Law, Civil Engineering and Medicine. Among the theorists brought into the discussion, we can mention Berstein (1990), Bourdieu (1983, 1990), Chauí (2001), and Tardif (2002). Then we present the obtained results by mapping the students’ parameters and value judgments of their positive assessment of professors and teaching practice in order to contribute to future discussion in terms of professors’ training.

Abstract: the purpose of this paper is to identify the reasons why, was held in costa rica, in the first decades of the twentieth century, a unique sports event of a global nature, which consisted of a foot race over 100 kilometers, between san jose and puntarenas, carried out mainly on the railway sleepers. the novelty of this historical research is that it analyzes the impact of sport in the costa rican society from a social perspective broader than just traditional chronological and anecdotal description of an event of this magnitude, identifying the main actors involved in such a articular event and analyzed its development and the main reasons for his suspension from a technical standpoint. the work is divided into three chapters. the first of them contains information about who organized the event and its purpose, which was its length, number of participants and prizes. in the second section describes the main events taking place of that particular competition, which were the main characters and how they prepared. and at last, we analyze the reasons for which in 1938 was the last time, and those influenced to leave the sports show to perform.
