Abstract: Using the concept of business models can help companies understand, communicate, share,change, measure, simulate and learn more about the different aspects of e-Business in their firms. Better understanding of e-Business models helps managers and related staff to better apply the business models. The main objective of this paper is to use Causal Loop Diagram (CLD) as a useful tool to capture the structure of e-Business systems in order to achieve abetter understanding of an e-Business model. The proposed CLD provides managers with significant insight into the e-Business models.

Abstract: Este artículo indaga sobre los orígenes de la contabilidad con el objetivo de analizar elcomportamiento económico. En particular, se examinan los primeros lugares específicamentedispuestos y organizados para la ense anza del conocimiento contable así como losmedios de estudio para su transmisión: las escuelas y los libros de ábaco. Ampliamenteextendidos en Italia entre los siglos XIII y XVI tenían la finalidad de transmitir, por un lado, elconocimiento generalmente difundido como matemática práctica y, por otro, las técnicas pararealizar operaciones aritméticas y las reglas prácticas para la resolución de problemascomerciales y financieros.El objetivo de esta investigación es profundizar en el estudio de las escuelas y de los librosde ábaco evidenciando el papel desempe ado en el origen de la contabilidad y en eldesarrollo económico y social en la época medieval y los primeros siglos del Renacimiento.Con este fin, el estudio se basa en algunas evidencias sobre la evolución de los estudios ylas escuelas de ábaco en Arezzo (Toscana, Italia) entre los siglos XIII y XVI. Combinandoevidencias similares con el análisis teórico el estudio revela la contribución de la tradición delábaco en el mejor desarrollo de la vida pública en época medieval y renacentista. This paper focuses on the “origins” of the book-keeping art which aims to record economicbehaviour. In particular, this research investigates the early specific “places” arranged andorganized to teach the accounting knowledge and the primitive “means” of study with which itcould be handed over: the abacus schools and books. They prevalently spread in Italybetween XIII and XVI century with the aim of transferring the knowledge generally defined as“practical maths”, such as the techniques to do arithmetic operations and practical rules tosolve commercial and financial questions.The objective of this research is to further investigate the study of abacus schools and books,in order to recover and highlight the role held by the abacus phenomenon in the origins of the“accounting art” and, in general, the role of the “abacus tradition” for the economic and socialdevelopment of the society during the medieval and renaissance period.To achieve this goal, the study relies upon some evidences from Tuscany (Italy) between XIIIand XVI century. A Country-Level Decision Support Framework for Self-Assessment of E-Commerce Maturity  [PDF]

Countries need to be aware of the stage of their current e-Commerce maturity for choosing the right strategy to move forward. For this purpose, we develop a country-level decision support framework to determine maturation stage of e-Commerce in a country. At first, e-Commerce maturity scores of local e-Markets in each regional e-Market are calculated using a fuzzy bi-level Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method. Then, e-Commerce maturity scores of regional e-Markets in the country are determined based on a fuzzy bi-level fishbone diagram. After that, national e-Commerce maturity level is assessed using a three-level decision making model. The contribution of the proposed decision support framework is four folds: 1) it develops a fishbone diagram to a fuzzy bi-level environment; 2) it presents a country-level decision making model with three levels of local, regional, international e-Markets to assess country’s e-Commerce maturity level; 3) it considers interdependencies between local, regional and international e-Markets; and 4) it synthesizes qualitative judgments and quantitative data of maturity criteria and sub-criteria. The results of this self-assessment can be used to analyze national e-Commerce strengths, weaknesses in e-Commerce development and move to the next level of e-Commerce maturity. Furthermore, it can be used as a device to transfer knowledge to developing countries. We present a case study to determine US e-Commerce maturity level.

Abstract: In present days, several state and central governments have taken initiative to successfully implement E-Governance in various areas of services. The main criterion is to provide services in transparent & accurate manner among the citizens by the use of different ICT tools and techniques. E-Tendering is one of the sensitive functions of good governance, which helps to simplify complex manual activities for purchasing of goods and services using the Internet in a transparent manner but which lacks transparency, accountability and security. One of the major factors that are limiting the success of E-Tendering approach is that the security measure is not properly implemented. In this paper, we propose a UML implementation of Secret-Key Watermarking algorithm for integrity verification of transmitted tender document via Internet from public sector organization to the supplier and vice versa in E-Tendering system, so that the watermark is capable enough to detect any changes made to the online tender document by malicious users.

Abstract: We consider a network of computer data centers on the earth surface delivering computing as a service to a big number of users. The problem is to assign users to data centers to minimize the total communication distance between compu-ting resources and their users in the face of capacity constrained datacenters. In this paper, we extend the classical pla-nar Voronoi Diagram to a hyperbolic Voronoi Diagram on the sphere. We show that a solution to the distance minimi-zation problem under capacity constraints is given by a hyperbolic spherical Voronoi Diagram of data centers. We also present numerical algorithms, computer implementation and results of simulations illustrating our solution. We note applicability of our solution to other important assignment problems, including the assignment of population to regional trauma centers, location of airbases, the distribution of the telecommunication centers for mobile telephones in global telephone companies, and others.

Abstract: The processes of human migrations have been present for ages, since the very beginnings of human history on the planet Earth. Nowadays, these are amplified to a large scale due to the modern means of communication, transportation, information and knowledge exchange, as well as the complex processes of globalization. Knowing the social, demographic, ethnical and educational structure of the migrants, as well as their geographical trajectory and temporal dynamics of their spatial moving across territories, countries and continents, is of a crucial meaning for both national governments and international policies. There is an emphasized need for identifying, acquiring, organizing, storing, retrieving and analyzing data related to human migration processes. The relational databases provide an ultimate solution, whilst the E-R diagram represents a common graphical tool for conceptual data modelling and relational database design. Within the paper we develop and propose a logical data model of the modern human migration.

Abstract: With the development of information retrieval technology and database theory, how to achieve information retrieval technology in relational databases to obtain useful information, and the normal user can also be performed in relation database query with keywords, as recent research hot spot. Relation Database query system based on keyword, with which the user don't need to know the database schema and structured query language, just inputting a few keywords. The article based on a prototype relational database-ER diagram, grouping entity according to different meaning. Following the keywords belonging to relation table, we can ensure the set of query entity, and dividing the range of query, to improve the efficiency of query. This paper presents a new algorithm to improve system precision. Finally, through experiments on the E-RKS system verifies verification.

Abstract: Understanding of the aquifer hydraulic properties and hydrochemical characteristics of water is crucial for management plan and study skims in the target area, and flow motions and chemical species of groundwater are regarded as precious information on the geological history of the aquifers and the suitability of various usages. Cations and anions of groundwater are used to estimate the characteristics and origin of groundwater. In this study, we try to evaluate the quality of groundwater based on the comparison of the physiochemical characteristics and distribution of cations and anions in groundwater from rural areas. Therefore we focused on the evaluation of groundwater as some specific purposes such as agricultural and industrial use, general types of groundwater, lithological origin of chemical component in groundwater. In this point of view, major objectives of this study were grouped as following three categories: 1) quality assessment of groundwater as a special usage (agricultural, industrial); 2) determination of groundwater types; 3) tracing of ion sources of groundwater. The quality of agricultural water was evaluated using SAR, sodium (%), RSC, PI, SSP, MH, PS, and Kelly’s ratio, and was classified as SAR (Excellent (100%)), Sodium ((Excellent (34%), Good (55%), Permissible (9%), Doubtful (1.6%), Unsuitable (0.4%)), RSC (Good (95.7%), Medium (3.5%), Bad (0.8%)), PI((Excellent (40.6%), Good (59%), Unsuitable (0.4%)), SSP ((Excellent (26.3%), Good (59.8%), Fair (13.1%), Poor (0.8%)), MH ((Acceptable (94.4%), Non-Acceptable (5.6%)), Kelly’s Ratio ((Permissible (93%), Non-Permissible (7%)), PS ((Excellent to Good (98%), Good to Injurious (1.2%), and Injurious to Unsatisfactory (0.2%)). Evaluation based on the Wilcox diagram was classified as “excellent to good” or “good to permissible”, and the water quality evaluated using the U.S. salinity Laboratory’s Diagram was classified as C1S1 (Excellent/Excellent) and C2S1 (Good/Excellent). And, in the applications of two factors of Langelier Saturation Index (LSI) and Corrosive ratio (CR), we could get similar results for defining the suitabilities of groundwater for the industrial purpose. And the groundwater samples were also classified groundwater using the Piper diagram and estimated the origin of ions using the Gibbs and Chadah diagram, and the classifications based on the Piper diagram showed that the types of the groundwater are \"\" type?and \"\" type. Abstract: We study the effect of a parallel metal oxide surge arrester on the ferroresonance oscillations of transformers. It is expected that the arresters generally cause ferroresonance drop out. Simulation has been done on a three phase power transformer with one open phase. Effect of varying input voltage is studied. The simulation results reveal that connecting the arrester to transformers poles, exhibits a great mitigating effect on ferroresonant over voltages. Phase plane along with bifurcation diagrams are also presented. Significant effect on the onset of chaos, the range of parameter values that may lead to chaos and magnitude of ferroresonant voltages is obtained, shown and tabulated.
