Abstract: purpose: to evaluate the performance of fibrin adhesive and absorbable suture thread in the repairing of hepatic injures in rabbits. methods: new zealand albino rabbits (n=16), males and females, from 5 to 6 months old, average weight of 2500 g, were distributed randomly in group a (n-8) - biological adhesive and group b (n=8) - suture thread. after anesthesia with acepromazine (1mg/kg), ketamine (50mg/kg) and fentanyl ev (0,5ml/kg), it was performed a supra-umbilical median laparotomy, the median hepatic lobe was isolated and subjected to severe standardized incision. in the group b the incision edges were sutured with simple 4-0 catgut, in separated stitches. it was evaluated the total time of the procedure, the hemostasis time and hemorrhage volume. in the 21st post-operative day it was evaluated the presence of adherences and signs of infection in the abdominal cavity, and it was followed by the resection of the median hepatic lobe for the histological evaluation. results: the calculated mean and standard deviation showed that the procedure time, hemostasis time and bleeding amount were significantly smaller in the group of animals subjected to the use of fibrin adhesive. the surgical abdominal incision was significantly more extensive in the animals of the suture group (average of 6,8 cm) in relation to the adhesive group (average of 3,8), as well as the number of occurrences of abscesses. the adherence of the intestinal ansas to the sutured incision (group b) occurred in five cases and the major omentum adhesion occurred in all animals. in the group a (adhesive) it occurred adherences of the major omentum in three cases. the microscopy of the hepatic incision repaired with the use of fibrin showed that the inflammatory infection is less intense, not associated with the formulation of secretion in the abscesses, and therefore has a more favorable later cicatricial aspect than a conventional suture with surgical thread. conclusion: in agreement with other biomed

Abstract: telangiectases, in accordance with current concepts, must be treated in a surgical way. the most commons surgicals treatments included the electrosurgery, electocauterization and electrolysis. the injury to the peripherical dermal tissue was a problem as the insatisfactory results in the vessels scleroses. therefore, the aim of this study was estimated the value of one electrical device planned with care and exactness to provide a galvanic electric sharp stream to be used in a animal model. thus, 45 white new zealand adults male rabbits received a electrical galvanic pulse(marginal vein of the right ear) or only the mechanical puncture(marginal vein of the left ear) in three consecutives times at first, second and third weeks. the animals of group i (n=15) received doses of 100m a, group ii (n=15) doses of 200m a and group iii(n=15) doses of 300m a. fourteen days after the last application the redness, exudates and ulcers in skin was evaluate.samples of the vessels and peripherical skin was prepared and stained with hematoxylin-eosin for leukocyte exudates and granulation tissue. both, electric and mechanical treatment showed no statistical differences,actually the galvanic eletric sharp stream was ineffective to produce sclerosis in the vessels. another survey, probably using an stronger eletric flow or different means of study, must be provide.

Costa, Regina de Faria Bittencourt da;Fagundes, Djalma José;
Acta Cirurgica Brasileira , 2002, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-86502002000300007
Abstract: most complications that may occur in response to vascular injury of endovascular and open vascular procedures are due to intimal hyperplasia. to a certain extent, intimal hyperplasia is present in all types of vascular reconstruction, including autologous grafts, allografts, and prosthetic grafts found in solid organs transplanted, having a substantial role in chronic rejection and following angioplasty with or without stenting. one of the greatest developments in recent years towards prevention of intimal hyperplasia is the use of ionizing radiation. ionizing radiation inhibits proliferation of many cell types including fibroblasts and smooth muscle cells in vitro, and also suppresses the synthesis of collagen by cultured fibroblasts. animal models have been a cornerstone to develop strategies aimed at understanding the basic physiopathologic mechanisms of intimal hyperplasia and at evaluating novel treatment strategies for clinical conditions. so, the aim of this study was to analyze animals models of intimal hyperplasia, type of injury, artery segments most used, as to the effects of different kinds and sources of ionizing radiation.
