Abstract: The proposed research is about the people’s perception about “Politics as profession”. This paper examines multiple case studies of people’s opinion about making career in politics and further explains why most of the people are not interested in politics. By and large, people in India consider Politics as “dirt”. The word “Uneducated” is directly linked with politicians in India. We have our own Indian Political history as background information for us to understand people’s mentality towards politics and why most of us never want to join it. The purpose of this paper is to study the mentality of Indian parents about letting their children pursue politics as their profession. The main objective of this research is to make people understand that we can never clean the dirt by just staying away from it. Results of various surveys have been included to support the fact that people are afraid to take politics as a career. Post-Independence Era has seen kith and kin of late famous political figures that have entered politics in spite of being uneducated. Education doesn’t just mean acquiring degrees from some university, but to have a sense of honor towards leading people. This paper also stresses on the fact that most people agree on having an educated politician but most of the educated people are not interested in joining politics. As we know, many Indian politicians shroud in fake degree scandal, which shows the education status of politicians in India. Our proposal signifies that people need to change their mentality about politics and join it in true professional spirit so that we can be a developed nation and present an example to the rest of the world.
Critical Data Delivery Using TOPSIS in Wireless Body Area Networks  [PDF]

Abstract: Technology development in the Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) has paved the way for body area network for remote health monitoring. For this purpose, a message or a data packet should be transmitted from the patient to the medical evaluator without any loss. In this work, Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) algorithm is implemented for Wireless Body Area Networks (WBAN) to deliver the message, based on the criticality of the pa- tient. Finally, we compare the results for both the real-time data and the simulated (random) values in terms of packet-size forwarding for different parameters such as Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), Delay and Throughput. The result shows better performance in the real time value by using TOPSIS scheme in the WBAN. By improving the quality of service in body area networks, health monitoring system can be automated with good performance.

Abstract: Power generation becomes the need of developed, developing and under developed countries to meet their increasing power requirements. When affordability increases their requirement of power increases, this happens when increased per capita consumption. The existing power scenario states that highest power is produced using firing of coals called thermal energy. A high efficiency Switched Reluctance Generator (SRG) based high frequency switching scheme to enhance the output for grid connectivity is designed, fabricated and evaluated. This proposed method generates the output for the low wind speed. It provides output at low speed because of multi-level DC-DC converter and storage system. It is an efficient solution for low wind power generation. The real time readings and results are discussed.

Abstract: This paper considers the Bayes and hierarchical Bayes approaches for analyzing clinical data on response times with available values for one or more concomitant variables. Response times are assumed to follow simple exponential distributions, with a different parameter for each patient. The analyses are carried out in case of progressive censoring assuming squared error loss function and gamma distribution as priors and hyperpriors. The possibilities of using the methodology in more general situations like dose- response modeling have also been explored. Bayesian estimators derived in this paper are applied to lung cancer data set with concomitant variables.
The Implications of Mandatory Corporate Social Responsibility—A Literature Review Perspective  [PDF]

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to discuss the implications of mandatory corporate social responsibility (CSR) contributions: the CSR levy. Using public interest theory as the theoretical lens, this paper adopts a pro-regulation approach and justifies the introduction of the CSR levy in Mauritius, based on the economic and business environment prevailing at the time. Secondary literature sources are used to investigate. Two further questions related to mandatory CSR are investigated: Does the CSR levy result in a competitive disadvantage? Does the CSR levy reduce profits? We conclude that the CSR levy does not disadvantage firms due to the uniform amount and its universal application. Furthermore, it can attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and Socially Responsible Investment (SRI). However, the CSR levy does negatively impact on profits but has the potential to pay higher returns in the future if viewed as an investment. This research needs to be complemented by studies that empirically investigate the impacts of the CSR levy on companies and sectors in Mauritius.

Bootstrap Learning and Visual Processing Management on Mobile Robots

Abstract: A central goal of robotics and AI is to enable a team of robots to operate autonomously in the real world and collaborate with humans over an extended period of time. Though developments in sensor technology have resulted in the deployment of robots in specific applications the ability to accurately sense and interact with the environment is still missing. Key challenges to the widespread deployment of robots include the ability to learn models of environmental features based on sensory inputs, bootstrap off of the learned models to detect and adapt to environmental changes, and autonomously tailor the sensory processing to the task at hand. This paper summarizes a comprehensive effort towards such bootstrap learning, adaptation, and processing management using visual input. We describe probabilistic algorithms that enable a mobile robot to autonomously plan its actions to learn models of color distributions and illuminations. The learned models are used to detect and adapt to illumination changes. Furthermore, we describe a probabilistic sequential decision-making approach that autonomously tailors the visual processing to the task at hand. All algorithms are fully implemented and tested on robot platforms in dynamic environments. 1. Introduction An open grand challenge in the field of robotics is to enable widespread deployment of robots in the real world, where they can operate autonomously and collaborate with humans. Addressing this grand challenge would in turn require answers to the following major questions. (i)Autonomous Learning and Adaptation. How to enable a robot to autonomously learn models of environmental features based on sensory input, detect environmental changes, and adapt the learned models in response to such changes?(ii)Processing Management. Given multiple sources of information, which bits of information should be processed, and what processing should be performed in order to achieve a desired goal reliably and efficiently?(iii)Multiagent Coordination. How to enable a team of robots, each with possibly different capabilities and constraints, to collaborate robustly towards a shared objective despite noisy sensing and communication? In this paper, the focus is primarily on developing probabilistic methods for Autonomous Learning and Adaptation, and for Processing Management. We propose probabilistic methods that enable a robot to use sensory inputs to learn environmental models and respond to environmental changes. Abstract: Although secondary causes for headache are discemible in only about 15% of persons attending emergency departments with headache, any person presenting with acute headache needs to be investigated to rule our secondary headache disorders. The clinical approach to the patient with the worst ever headache and the features of some of the headache disorders manifesting with acute headache are discussed. Most patients with secondary headache disorders have suggestive clinical features which should not be overlooked. Appropriate use of neuroimaging, CSF analysis and angiography are essential to ascertain the underlying etiology.

Abstract: A report of patient with nonembolic ischemic cerebral infarction, developing a massive hemorrhagic transformation of the infarct with neurological deterioration on the 15th day after the onset of the ischemic stroke is presented. The hemorrhagic transformation occurred in the absence of hypertension, cardiac source for embolism, coagulation defects, thrombolysis or anticoagulation therapy. It is important to recognize that hemorrhagic transformation can also occur in the natural evolution of an ischemic infarction or with simple therapy like low dose aspirin.
