Turrini, Ruth Natalia Teresa;Graziano, Kazuko Uchikawa;Vattimo, Maria de Fátima Fernandes;Cruz, Diná de Almeida Lopes Monteiro da;
Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da USP , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0080-62342005000500010
Abstract: the aim of this study was to evaluate the profile of the students and the knowledge produced in the adult health nursing graduate program (proesa) of the nursing college of the university of s?o paulo (eeusp). a documental, exploratory and descriptive study from 2000 to 2004 was conducted. results identified that the students of the proesa in the period analyzed were graduated at the eeusp (46.5%), they had a long time as nursing practitioners and no previous experience in scientific research. it were concluded 43 academic production (2.4 production/sponsor) and the principal area of investigation was "technology in adult health". the research designs of most quantitative studies were classified as non-intervention with a high frequency of descriptive studies. the long time to accomplish the publication and the restricted assort of qualified journals in nursing areas were the most important identified factors to limit the publications of the academic production.

Abstract: therapeutic intervention scoring system-28 (tiss-28) is a tool that enables the measurement of the nursing work load in intensive care units and the estimate of how grave the disease is. in this study are presented the operational definitions for its application, proposed by a group of specialists in the area, with the aim of rendering uniform the meaning of each of the items and preventing interpretation biases.

Revista Latino-Americana de Enfermagem , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-11692003000200016
Abstract: this article aims to disseminating the development and characteristics of nanda's taxonomy ii multiaxial structure. this structure offers greater flexibility to diagnoses statements and is more adequate to the contemporaneous nursing practices than the taxonomy i.
Diagnósticos de enfermagem de pacientes internadas em unidade médico-cirúrgica
Volpato, Marcia Paschoalina;Cruz, Diná de Almeida Lopes Monteiro da;
Acta Paulista de Enfermagem , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-21002007000200002
Abstract: objective: to identify the nursing diagnoses and the altered functional health patterns (fhp) in patients admitted to a medical-surgical unit. method: a fhp guideline was used to interview, perform physical examinations, and to conduct chart reviews of 60 inpatients (female = 100%; mean age 49.7±19.0 year). nursing diagnoses were declared by consensus among four researchers on nursing diagnoses with expertise on medical-surgical nursing. a total of 337 nursing diagnoses in 48 categories were identified. the most frequent nursing diagnoses were risk for infection (58.3%), pain (50.0%), constipation (41.6%), and activity intolerance (35.0%). the most frequent fhp were activity-exercise (19.9%), nutritional-metabolic (19.6%), and health perception-health management (18.7%). conclusion: providing care for the medical-surgical patient requires a wide range of nursing knowledge and skills.
Propriedades psicométricas da Dutch Fatigue Scale e Dutch Exertion Fatigue Scale: vers?o brasileira
Fini, Andrea;Cruz, Diná de Almeida Lopes Monteiro da;
Revista Brasileira de Enfermagem , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0034-71672010000200008
Abstract: fatigue is a human response in varied acute and chronic conditions and also in general population. this article reports a study conducted to estimate reliability and validity of the dutch fatigue scale (dufs) and the dutch exertion fatigue scale (defs) adapted for brazilian use. three-hundred heart failure patients and 64 healthier volunteers answered the dufs and defs translated into portuguese. factorial analysis of dufs and defs items yield a solution with one factor for each scale (explained variance = 53.9%), and good reliability estimates were obtained by the chronbach's alpha (dufs=.85 e defs=.92). in the patient sample, scales scores were positively associated with heart failure functional class (dufs and defs p=.00), depression scores (dufs rs=.63; p=.00 and defs rs=.55; p=.00), and sleep disturbance (dufs and defs p=.00). brazilian versions of dufs and defs presented psychometric properties similar to those of the original ones.
Sentimento de impotência: diferencia??o de outros diagnósticos e conceitos
Braga, Cristiane Giffoni;Cruz, Diná de Almeida Lopes Monteiro da;
Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da USP , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0080-62342005000300014
Abstract: the theoretical-conceptual knowledge that supports each nursing diagnosis is still not well-developed. however, nursing diagnoses are meaningful only if we look at each one as a concept that denotes a phenomenon. in addition to familiarity with the diagnostic process, nurses need to be willing to conceptually explore potentially frequent diagnoses in their clinical practice. in this context, differentiating powerlessness from other diagnoses could be extremely difficult. this article presents a theoretical analysis of the relationship between powerlessness and other concepts that could be useful for the clinical application of the diagnosis.
A resposta psicossocial de impotência em pacientes no pós-operatório de cirurgia cardíaca
Braga, Cristiane Giffoni;Cruz, Diná de Almeida Lopes Monteiro da;
Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da USP , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S0080-62342003000100004
Abstract: aims: to describe powerlessness on postoperative cardiac surgery patients according to frequency, intensity, defining characteristics and to compare powerlessness between valvular surgery patients (val) and coronary artery bypass surgery patients (cab). methods: powerlessness was defined through the analyses of interviews of 75 patients (60% val and 40% cab). results: 58.7% patients presented powerlessness. there were not differences according to powerlessness frequency (p=0.84) and intensity (p=0.73) between val and cab patients. the defining characteristics most frequent on powerless patients were: "verbal expressions of having no control or influence over situation" (77.3%), "doubts regarding planning future and stating objectives" (75%), "expressions of doubt regarding role performance" (63.6%), and "expressions of dissatisfaction and frustration over inability to perform previous tasks and /or activities" (56.8%).
Instrumento de Medida do Sentimento de Impotência para pacientes adultos
Braga, Cristiane Giffoni;Cruz, Diná de Almeida Lopes Monteiro da;
Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da USP , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0080-62342009000500010
Abstract: the objective of this article is to report the development of a tool to assess powerlessness in adult patients. theoretical, empirical and analytical psychometric based procedures were applied to develop the tool. the tool was tested in 210 patients for item selection, reliability and validation estimate and it consisted of 12 items in three domains: "capacity to perform behavior" (alpha=0.845); "self-perception of decision making capacity" (alpha=0.834); and "emotional responses to perceived control" (alpha =0.578). the total alpha was 0.799. criteria validity was estimated by testing the association between the developed instrument and a general statement on control perception (p<0.000). the powerlessness assessment tool will be useful to assess this nursing diagnosis as well as for the selection and evaluation of interventions.
Contribui??es da psicometria para a avalia??o de respostas psicossociais na enfermagem
Braga, Cristiane Giffoni;Cruz, Diná de Almeida Lopes Monteiro da;
Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da USP , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0080-62342006000100014
Abstract: this article presents the methodological bases that guide the development of instruments to measure psychosocial variables. it describes the theoretical, empirical or experimental and analytical and exemplifies the theoretical steps through the experience of developing an instrument to measure power-lessness as a nursing diagnosis. the most difficult procedures for developing instruments to are the theoretical steps. they require the development of theoretical sensitivity as a continuous going forward and backward between concrete and abstract issues; they also require the development of tolerance towards ambiguity, but without abandoning the examination of evidences.
