Abstract:

The aim of this study was to evaluate methods for breaking dormancy of seeds Neonotonia wightii (perennial soybean), Macrotiloma axilare (archer), Pueraria phaseoloides (tropical kudzu), Calopogonium mucunoides (calopo), which were subjected to the following treatments for physical breaks and physiological dormancy: 1) control; 2) scarification with sandpaper; 3) immersion in H2SO4 98% for five minutes and subsequent washing in water; 4) preheating at 60°C for 150 minutes in an air circulating oven; 5) 0.2% KNO3; and 6) gibberellic acid (GA3 0.5%). The results showed that using H2SO4 to break seed dormancy archer and perennial soybean and calopo scarification with sandpaper were the most recommended treatments. Tropical Kudzu presented physiological response to treatments with the use of gibberellic acid and physical treatment using immersion H

Abstract: the experiment was conducted in the forage crops and pastures section of dnap/iz/ufrrj, seropédica, rio de janeiro, to evaluate the dry matter production (dmp) and chemical composition of three tropical forage legumes: puero (pueraria phaseoloides), archer (macrotyloma axillare) and perennial soybean (neonotonia wightii) in two cultivate systems (cs) (supported and free). a randomized block design, in a factorial arrangement was used: (3 species x 2 (cs) x 4 (repetition), in plots measuring 20m2. dmp was significantly different (p<0.05) among cs, where for all of the evaluated species the cs supported presented the largest productions. a significant effect was not observed (p>0.05) for the values regarding cp and adf of the legumes in each cultivate system. for the values of ndf there was significant difference (p<0.05) among the studied species, and the species that presented larger values was the puero followed by the perennial soybean and the archer. there was significance (p<0,05) of mineral matter from the interaction between legume and cultivation system. the greater value observed in supported system was that of puero, that was different of other species. however, free system showed the highest value to perennial soybean, which was the same to puero but different of archer.

Abstract: Time-dependent nonextensivity in a stellar astrophysical scenario combines nonextensive entropic indices $q_{K}$ derived from the modified Kawaler's parametrization, and $q$, obtained from rotational velocity distribution. These $q$'s are related through a heuristic single relation given by $q\approx q_{0}(1-\Delta t/q_{K})$, where $t$ is the cluster age. In a nonextensive scenario, these indices are quantities that measure the degree of nonextensivity present in the system. Recent studies reveal that the index $q$ is correlated to the formation rate of high-energy tails present in the distribution of rotation velocity. On the other hand, the index $q_{K}$ is determined by the stellar rotation-age relationship. This depends on the magnetic field configuration through the expression $q_{K}=1+4aN/3$, where $a$ and $N$ denote the saturation level of the star magnetic field and its topology, respectively. In the present study, we show that the connection $q-q_{K}$ is also consistent with 548 rotation period data for single main-sequence stars in 11 Open Clusters aged less than 1 Gyr. The value of $q_{K}\sim$ 2.5 from our unsaturated model shows that the mean magnetic field topology of these stars is slightly more complex than a purely radial field. Our results also suggest that stellar rotational braking behavior affects the degree of anti-correlation between $q$ and cluster age $t$. Finally, we suggest that stellar magnetic braking can be scaled by the entropic index $q$.

Abstract: the cumulative effects of the long-term consumption of the regional basic diet (rbd) of northeast brazil on gestational and lactational performances were assessed in three consecutive generations of sprague dawley rats (n= 1,334). the animals were distributed into three groups: rbd (8% predominantly vegetable- based proteins), control (8% casein) and standard (22% casein). primiparous fertilized rats aged 120 days old and their offsprings made up generation l. consecutive generations were obtained by mating products from previous generations. statistical differences between groups and generations were analysed by the method of kruskal-wallis. in comparison with their respective controls, data for rbd-fed groups were as follows: decreased conception rates, gradual declines in gestational body weight gains and reduction in the mean number of youngs per litter; the weight loss of lactating rats aggravated in consecutive generations; suckling rats had lower values for birthweight and weight gain, higher values for death rates (including soon after weaning) and severe immaturity at weaning (21 days), this dietary experimental model proved to be valid in terms of providing information for further studies about the relationship between quality and quantity of dietary proteins in order to allow decisisons on supplementary feeding programmes for people now most in need.

Ilha do Desterro , 2008,

Abstract: in this study were determined the polyphenols contents of agricultural residues - stem and leaf - of pineapple plants (ananas comosus (l.) merrill) from the cultivars pérola, perolera, smooth cayenne and primavera, grown in ijací, mg, with the purpose of giving information on the possible use of these residues as human and/or animal food. the cultivars studied did not present polyphenols contents above 1%, level considered high and harmful to the protein digestibility. the leaves presented polyphenols contents higher than stems in all cultivars analysed. there were no significant differences among cultivars, but smooth cayenne had the highest polyphenols contents and perolera the lowest.

Abstract: the objective was to identify the main characteristics of the socialization process of people with disability (pwd) within organizations, in its biographical, relational and organizational dimensions. the results of interviews with 9 pwd from 3 organizations in minas gerais state and the questionnaires applied to 33 pwd in the belo horizonte metropolitan region were analyzed. what was identified was the predominance of actions by which the disabled themselves seek to master work, integrate into the group and acquire knowledge of organizational values, although they use no systematic socialization tactics. evidence was gathered of a positive association between individual socialization tactics and the perception of actions for adjusting working practices and conditions.
