Abstract: In recent years, the methods of managing the supply chain have been advancing in a collaborative trend, in which organizations develop closer relationships with their partners as a strategy to improve their processes. Collaboration is a highly competitive strategy focused on information sharing, and so that decisions can be taken together, it is necessary that information is updated and available to all relevant partners. It can be asked: What are the existing tools for managing the supply chain? How can they be used? And, what are the minimal resources for the implementation of collaborative practices? This paper reports on the first stage of a research project whose goals were: a) literature review about the main IT tools; b) identification of IT use along the supply chain; and c) identification of its use in conjunction with the main collaborative management techniques. This phase is characterized as being qualitative, descriptive and bibliographical. A comparative analysis was performed, even at the theoretical level, between the IT tools, the concepts of supply chain management and collaborative management, seeking to confront the research objects and to find possible overlaps. At the end, 21 IT tools (and concepts) were identified that can be applied in operational and strategic management environments along the supply chain. It was noted that the Internet has become the tool responsible for the interconnection of all links in the chain and that the investment in IT will depend on the technique to be implemented, ranging from the simple use of spreadsheets to sophisticated integrations of ERP systems. Mode excitation Monte Carlo simulations of mesoscopically large membranes

Physics , 2008, DOI: 10.1063/1.2918736
Abstract: Solvent-free coarse grained models represent one of the most promising approaches for molecular simulations of mesoscopically large membranes. In these models, the size of the simulated membrane is limited by the slow relaxation time of longest bending mode. Here, we present a Monte Carlo algorithm with update moves in which all the lipids are displaced simultaneously. These collective moves result in fast excitation and relaxation of the long wavelength thermal fluctuations. We apply the method to simulations of a bilayer membrane of linear size $\sim 50 {\rm nm}$ and show reduction of the relaxation time by two orders of magnitudes when compared to conventional Monte Carlo.
"Water-free" computer model for fluid bilayer membranes
Oded Farago
Physics , 2003, DOI: 10.1063/1.1578612
Abstract: We use a simple and efficient computer model to investigate the physical properties of bilayer membranes. The amphiphilic molecules are modeled as short rigid trimers with finite range pair interactions between them. The pair potentials have been designed to mimic the hydrophobic interactions, and to allow the simulation of the membranes without the embedding solvent as if the membrane is in vacuum. We find that upon decreasing the area density of the molecules the membrane undergoes a solid-fluid phase transition, where in the fluid phase the molecules can diffuse within the membrane plane. The surface tension and the bending modulus of the fluid membranes are extracted from the analysis of the spectrum of thermal undulations. At low area densities we observe the formation of pores in the membrane through which molecules can diffuse from one layer to the other. The appearance of the pores is explained using a simple model relating it to the area dependence of the free energy.
