Oliveira, Dalila Andrade;
Educa??o & Sociedade , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-73302005000300003
Abstract: the present paper discusses the current regulation of the educational policies in latin america and its consequences for teaching workers. it assumes that a new model of regulation of educational policies has recently emerged as a consequence of the cycle of reforms experienced by many countries since the 1990s. the considerations brought here are the result of a research, more precisely of a document survey and bibliographic revision, on this theme that i developed as part of a post-doctorate scholarship at the laboratory of public policies of the universidade estadual do rio de janeiro (uerj). this text tries to characterize the debate on a new regulation of the educational policies in latin america and its consequences for the teaching workers based on some elements allowing us to know the specificities of this subcontinent, although seeking to interpret such elements in the light of the contribution of authors who have studied the subject in various national contexts.

Oliveira, Dalila Andrade;
Educa??o & Sociedade , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-73302011000200005
Abstract: this paper discusses the current education policies in order to analyze the context that gave birth to the national education conference (conae), its main proposal, and what happened afer it, until the bill (pl 8.035/10) on the new national education plan (pne) was presented. the principal objective this conference was to create a national education system. the text tries to understand the reasons for such a proposition, afer two decades of reforms towards decentralization and deregulation, as well as the concepts that can guide the organization of the education system. finally, it explores the relationship between federal government policies and state policy, questioning the challenges and possibilities of changes on the legal plan that the current key problems in brazilian education could have to face. it thus demonstrates a huge contradiction since the system advocated at the conae was not included in the bill proposing the new pne.

Oliveira, Dalila Andrade;
Educar em Revista , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-40602010000400002
Abstract: this paper examines the teaching profession in brazil, based on the recognition that the growing professionalism in education is connected to the extension of school systems. analyzing that the studies on the teaching profession come from different aspects (pedagogical, humanistic and sociologic) and from the development of these concepts and studies, the author shows the extent of the ambiguity problem between professionalism and proletarian mode in the constitution of professional identity. the paper highlights that the profession has been submitted to pressure and exchanges that are consequences of new regulations within the framework of the educational reforms of the 1990s, so that patterns of educational organization and school organization may be due to those changes as well as constituting a new profile of teachers, and a new identity. this work concludes by analyzing the impacts of those transformations in the professionalization of teaching, which can be the reason for a variation of two important faces of teaching: in relation to the object of work and with regard to work organization.

Oliveira, Dalila Andrade;
Educa??o & Sociedade , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-73302007000200004
Abstract: this paper discusses how the latin-american educational policies have altered school reality and, more particularly, the relationship between teachers and school. based on references developed in other contexts - europe and north america -, it analyses the results of documental research on the educational policies cur rently applied in some latin-american countries and of empirical research developed with basic school teachers in brazil. it notices that such policies have generated a new organization of school work that reflects a model of educational regulation produced by the articulation between global demands and local responses. through their administrative, financial and pedagogic decentralization, schools have acquired more flexibility and autonomy, but have also responded to a growing demand for activities and responsibilities. this has contributed to intensify and self-intensify teachers' work.

Oliveira, Dalila Andrade;
Educa??o & Sociedade , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-73302004000400003
Abstract: based on results from empirical research and on a bibliographic review that demonstrates a context of restructuration of the pedagogical work, this paper discusses the present work conditions of teachers in the brazilian public school system. it assumes that the very clear productive restructuration that has been occurring these last two decades brought has questioned the objectives of school education and entailed changes in the forms of work management and organization at school. brought by the recent educational reforms, such changes have caused the intensification of teachers' work, enlarging their scope of action and consequently increasing their weariness and dissatisfaction level. the text also discusses how such changes interfere in the so-called called process of flexibilization, with an increasing precariousness of teachers' work, in the light of the theses of disprofissionalization and proletarianization.

Abstract: the article argues relative questions to the new educative regulation in latin america and its impacts on the teaching work, amongst them, two different dimensions : the ones directly related to the relations of work and those that are related to the teaching work identity. we consider that latin america during the 1990's started to live a process of educational reforms which are related to reforms to the level of the state and that such processes had resulted in a new educative regulation. this new regulation brings significant changes to school management, therefore and to the conditions of work in the schools, which has resulted in reorganization of the teaching work. the discussions presented are the outcomes of researchs in brazilian context, which were integrated to investigations in other national realities in latin america.

Assun??o, Ada ávila;Oliveira, Dalila Andrade;
Educa??o & Sociedade , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-73302009000200003
Abstract: the centrality given to teachers in the ongoing educational reforms creates new professional demands that affect their health. seeking results in the literature on epidemiology and ergonomics, this paper suggests relations between the work intensification process in schools and the types of teachers' illnesses described in current studies. with regard to work intensification, mention is made of both qualitative factors, characterized by changes in activities without the necessary social support to accommodate work requirements, and quantitative factors such as increased work loads in schools. evidence presented in the text allows for a first explanatory model for the teacher morbidity process, based on environmental and organizational determinants, and their implications for classroom work activities.
