Taste Neurons Consist of Both a Large TrkB-Receptor-Dependent and a Small TrkB-Receptor-Independent Subpopulation

Abstract: Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and neurotrophin-4 (NT-4) are two neurotrophins that play distinct roles in geniculate (taste) neuron survival, target innervation, and taste bud formation. These two neurotrophins both activate the tropomyosin-related kinase B (TrkB) receptor and the pan-neurotrophin receptor p75. Although the roles of these neurotrophins have been well studied, the degree to which BDNF and NT-4 act via TrkB to regulate taste development in vivo remains unclear. In this study, we compared taste development in TrkB?/? and Bdnf?/?/Ntf4?/? mice to determine if these deficits were similar. If so, this would indicate that the functions of both BDNF and NT-4 can be accounted for by TrkB-signaling. We found that TrkB?/? and Bdnf?/?/Ntf4?/? mice lose a similar number of geniculate neurons by E13.5, which indicates that both BDNF and NT-4 act primarily via TrkB to regulate geniculate neuron survival. Surprisingly, the few geniculate neurons that remain in TrkB?/? mice are more successful at innervating the tongue and taste buds compared with those neurons that remain in Bdnf?/?/Ntf4?/? mice. The remaining neurons in TrkB?/? mice support a significant number of taste buds. In addition, these remaining neurons do not express the TrkB receptor, which indicates that either BDNF or NT-4 must act via additional receptors to influence tongue innervation and/or targeting.
Hsp90 Maintains the Stability and Function of the Tau Phosphorylating Kinase GSK3β

Abstract: Hyperphosphorylation of tau leading to aggregated tau and tangle formation is acommon pathological feature of tauopathies, including Alzheimer's disease. Abnormalphosphorylation of tau by kinases, in particular GSK3β, has been proposed as a pathogenicmechanism in these diseases. In this study we demonstrate that the heat shock protein 90(Hsp90) maintains the stability and function of the GSK3β. By using both rat primarycortical neurons and COS-7 cells, we show that Hsp90 inhibitors lead to a reduction of theprotein level of GSK3β, and that this effect is associated with both a decrease in tauphosphorylation at putative GSK3β sites and an induction in heat shock protein 70 (Hsp70)levels. We further show that Hsp90 associates with the GSK3β regulating its stability andfunction and preventing its degradation by the proteasome.

Power Quality Disturbance Classification Method Based on Wavelet Transform and SVM Multi-class Algorithms  [PDF]

The accurate identification and classification of various power quality disturbances are keys to ensuring high-quality electrical energy. In this study, the statistical characteristics of the disturbance signal of wavelet transform coefficients and wavelet transform energy distribution constitute feature vectors. These vectors are then trained and tested using SVM multi-class algorithms. Experimental results demonstrate that the SVM multi-class algorithms, which use the Gaussian radial basis function, exponential radial basis function, and hyperbolic tangent function as basis functions, are suitable methods for power quality disturbance classification.

Missing Amplification Effect: Focusing Missing Leads to Low Happiness Experience  [PDF]

Abstract: Prospect theory study found that people’s perception of the loss was greater than the strength obtained (Kahneman & Tversky, 1979), and the cognitive processes of “priority processing trend of negative events” thought that negative events would be priority processing than positive events (Huang & Luo, 2009). Researchers infer that when people focus on the lack of real life, it will produce the missing amplification effect, and this will further affect people’s well-being experiences. We used three experiments to test our hypotheses. Experiment 1 was between subjects design, and found that focusing missing was widespread, in addition, focusing missing and happy experience were negative correlation; Experiment 2 was picture experiment, and found that “missing amplification effect” existed. The greater the missing amplified effect, the lower the happiness; Experiment 3 merged experiment 1 and experiment 2, And found that the intermediary role between focusing missing and happy experience. Through the above three experiments, we concluded that: focusing missing leaded low happy experience, and missing amplification effect was the psychological mechanisms to explain why the focusing missing leaded to the low happy experience.

Some mathematicians consider it the most important unresolved problem in pure mathematics. Many mathematicians made a lot of efforts; they don’t have to prove the Riemann hypothesis. In this paper, I use the analytic methods to deny the Riemann Hypothesis; if there’s something wrong, please criticize and correct me.
The Effect of 635 nm Red Laser Irradiation on Proliferation of Bone Marrow Stem Cells  [PDF]

Photobiomodulation effects of Low-level light irradiation (LLLI) on regeneration have been reported in skin, nerve, and skeletal muscle tissues and bone. Bone Mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) are derived from bone marrow, which exhibited a ?broblast-like appearance, and could differentiate in vitro into different lineages. However, there is a reciprocal relationship between growth and osteogenic differentiation in MSCs. Therefore, it’s important to investigate the effect of LLLI on BMSCs. The aim of our study was to investigate the proliferation effect of 635 nm red laser light on bone marrow MSCs with or without osteogenic supplements. Bone marrow was collected from the 4-week-old Sprague–Dawley rats femur and tibiae. MSCs with and without osteogenic supplements both were divided into three groups. A continuous 635 nm wavelength red light diode laser (a power output of 960 mW) was used in the study. The size of light spot was 35mm in diameter. Irradiation was performed every other day since the half of medium was changed to osteogenic differentiation media (ODM). The first irradiation day was set as 0 day. The duration of each irradiation for red light was calculated at 10 seconds for 1 J/cm2, 20 seconds for 2 J/cm2. Two of these groups were used as controls: MSCs incubated in DMEM without irradiation (control 1), MSCs incubated in ODM without irradiation (control 2). Cellular proliferation was evaluated by using WST-8. Cell viability was assessed with WST-8 kit at 2, 4, 6 and 8 days, respectively. At 4, 6 and 8 days, groups cultured with DMEM showed significantly higher viabilities than that in groups with ODM. In groups with DMEM, red light at all doses significantly stimulated cell viability as compared with the control 1. Groups irradiated at 1 and 2 J/cm2 had more effective proliferation on 4 (P < 0.01) and 6 days (P < 0.05), when compared with the control 1. In groups with ODM, control 2 and the irradiated groups showed similar proliferation speeds. In conclusion, we can find that red light can promote proliferation of MSCs cultured in normal media, and suppress proliferation of MSCs cultured in ODM.

A core group of circadian genes regulate the circadian rhythms in mammalian cells. However, the mammalian cellular circadian rhythm in photobiomodulation remains unknown. A lot of evidence has shown that >20% of expressed mRNAs in bone stissues oscillate in a circadian manner. The aim of this paper is to investigate the mRNA expression of period 1 (per 1) in murine bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) which were irradiated by 635 nm red laser light. The cells were seeded in 35mm tissue-culture dishes at a density of 8 × 104 cells/dish and cultured in Dulbecco’s modi?ed Eagle’s medium (DMEM). BMSCs were irradiated once by 635 nm red light with radiation energies 0 J/cm2, 1 J/cm2, 4 J/cm2. mRNA expression of per 1 via Semi-Quantitative Real-time RT-PCR at 0h, 6 h, 12 h, 18 h, 24 h. The genes displayed a oscillatory period of nearly 24 hours. And 635 m laser light changed the mRNA expression of per 1. We conclude that red light irradiation can affect the circadian rhythm of BMSCs.
Spatial Differentiation of Urban Housing Prices in Guangdong Province and Its Influencing Factors  [PDF]

Abstract: In the context of the central government’s policies on housing prices themed on adjust measures to local conditions and classifying macro-control, it is of great significance to study the convergence and the differences of housing prices. Taking the urban area of Guangdong province as an economic unit, this paper explores the spatial heterogeneity of housing price in Guangdong Province during 1995-2014 and the spatial heterogeneity of its impact factors by means of ESDA and GWR models. The study found that the spatial structure of housing prices in the region shows a certain circle structure, while the housing prices in the Pearl River Delta region are relatively high, there is a big difference in housing prices between Zhongshan, Huizhou and other cities. In most of the cities in eastern, western and northern Guangdong, the price of housing is low, which is extremely different from the price of housing of cities in the Pearl River Delta, there is also a huge difference between the housing price of Shantou and that of its surrounding cities. The influencing factors of housing prices in different cities show a localized characteristic of unbalanced linkage. The difference between the impact of GDP per capita and the floor space of buildings completed on housing prices is the largest in the two time sections. In the middle and late time of the real estate development, the relevancy degree between housing prices and GDP per capita is no longer obvious, and is more affected by the urbanization rate and population migration, especially in western Guangdong. The completion of housing area and loan balance has the greatest sensitivity to urban housing prices in western Guangdong. The former has the least sensitivity to the Pearl River Delta region. The latter has the least sensitivity to housing price in eastern Guangdong Province. The amount of the investment in real estate development has the greatest sensitivity to Meizhou, Chaozhou, Shantou and Jieyang prices produced the largest inhibition effect, the inhibition effect of the western part of the smallest. Abstract: Objective: To investigate the treatment effect of essential hypertension based on health education. Methods: A randomized controlled field intervention trial was used in this study, patients with essential hypertension treated in community health services were subjects investigated, and psychological intervention should be carried out based on pharmaceutical services, to evaluate the effect of psychological intervention model based on pharmaceutical care on blood pressure control and overall health improvement in patients with essential hypertension. Results: Before treatment, systolic and diastolic blood pressure had no significant difference between two groups, P > 0.05. After treatment, SBP and DBP in two groups were significantly decreased compared to that before treatment in the same group. After treatment, SBP and DBP in the intervention group were significantly decreased compared with normal group, P < 0.05. Before treatment, there was no significant difference in SRHMS scores of physical, psychological and social health between two groups (P > 0.05). After treatment, the scores of the physiological health subscale and the total scale of the control group, the scores of each subscale and the total amount of the intervention group were significantly higher than those before the same group, the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05), and the scores of the mental, social health subscales and the total scale of the intervention group were significantly higher than those in the control group, and the differences were all statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Under the background of the new round of medical and health system reforms, this model will help health workers and community residents establish new types of doctor-patient relationship and improve the quality of life of chronic diseases such as hypertension.
