Order Lambda**3 Parameterization of Neutrino (e,muon, tau, tau(prime)) Flavor Oscillations in a Simplified SM4 Model and Associated VCKM, VMNS, and VBIMAX Matrixes
Dr. Henry Makowitz,Ph. D
Physics , 2009,
Abstract: Arguments are presented based on particle phenomenology and the requirement for Unitarity for a complex valued postulated four generation CKM Matrix (VCKM ) based on a Sequential Fourth Generation Model (sometimes named SM4). A modified four generation QCD Standard Model Lagrangian is utilized per SM4. A four generation neutrino mass mixing MNS Matrix, (VMNS) is estimated utilizing a Unitary (to Order (Lambda**k), k = 1, 2, 3, 4, etc) 4 x 4 Bimaximal Matrix, VBIMAX. The Unitary VBIMAX is based on a weighted 3 x 3 VBIMAX scheme and is studied in conjunction with the postulated four generation VCKM complex Unitary Matrix. A single parameter has been utilized in our analysis along with three complex DELTA(i,j) phases. A four generation Wolfenstein Parameterization of VCKM is deduced which is valid for order Lambda**3. Experimental implications of the model are discussed. The issues of Baryogenesis in the context of Leptogenesis associated with MNS Matrix neutrino mixing and Baryogenesis associated with CKM Matrix quark mixing are discussed. These issues are studied in the context of the postulated complex four generation CKM Matrix and resulting complex MNS Matrix, predicted CP violating parameters, and a Fourth Generation Neutrino mass bound of equal to or greater than 50 GeV. Our analysis is valid to and includes order Lambda**3 terms. Our work is a mathematical analysis of the consequences of such model. Media of Health Research and Development , 2012,
Containment Revived: An Alternative Way to Cope With Terrorism
Dr. Andreas M. Bock, Ph.D.
Journal of Strategic Security , 2009,
Abstract: "Coercion or negative sanctions are found to have little effect [on terrorism] and, in important instances, are even counterproductive." In other words: fighting terrorism by war is no use, it does not even have a deterrent effect. On the contrary, the employment of massive military power makes it easier for terrorists to justify their attacks, to find broad support, and to recruit new followers. This notwithstanding, I will offer an alternative way to cope with terrorism, using George F. Kennan's concept of containment. This is the link to our effort to effectively fight the terrorist threat: it is a battle too for the loyalties and convictions of people. Usama bin Ladin is not the problem; given the growing threat perception of an Islamic motivated international terrorism, he is just a complication. The problem is a growing willingness to engage in terrorist attacks—even by apparently well integrated and secularly educated immigrants' children of the second generation. The convictions of people constitute the strength of a social movement. And besides its horrific violent aspects, terrorism is a social movement intended to achieve social or political change. Without broad support, terrorism loses its potential.
Utilization of Antental care services, chidl survival and their relationship in twenty five states of India
Dr. ANIL KUMAR. G, Ph. D
Calicut Medical Journal , 2005,
Abstract: It is useful to conduct periodic assessment of the utilization of antenatal care and its impact on child survival. Hence it is imperative to study the relationship between child survival and utilization of antenatal health care services. The second National Family Health Survey conducted in 1998-99 is used to measure utilization of antenatal care services and its relationship with child survival in twenty-five states of India . This survey collected information from a national representative sample of more than 90,000 ever-married women aged 15-49years. In addition, it collected information about 32,393 children born during the three years preceding the survey. An index was constructed for measuring the utilization of antenatal care and child survival by using child mortality rates. The study reveals that there is a wide disparity in utilization of antenatal care services across various states in India . Utilization of antenatal care services is very low in the east, north, central and northeast regions of India as compared to western and southern regions. Also the child survival rate in the twenty-five states was higher in the southern states, although it was low in the other parts. Based on the findings of the study, it is suggested that active interventions be made to improve the utilization of antenatal care by creating proper awareness regarding the health facilities which are available in these regions and give more education on how and when to utilize these services
Are we Facing a Global Consumer?
Katarzyna Kozio , Ph.D. , Iga Rudawska, dr hab.
Folia Oeconomica Stetinensia , 2007, DOI: 10.2478/v10031-007-0004-5
Abstract: This paper presents the overall review of globalisation of consumption as well as the new trends of purchasing and discusses the findings of the exploratory inquiry conducted in FMCG market in Poland in two different periods (1994 and 2003). Particular attention is paid to the consumer choice-related consequences of globalisation. Judging purchasing behaviour of Polish people on the basis of the conducted research one can assume that they are influenced by globalization, but not in all aspects. Brand is particularly important (while buying new products on the market) to young people, people holding higher education qualifications, private entrepreneurs, managers and specialists, rather professionally active than passive. Over 25% of respondents pay attention to the Polish origin of a product.
Fighting Piracy: Experiences in Southeast Asia and off the Horn of Africa
Dr. Robert M. Farley, Ph.D.,Yoav Gortzak
Journal of Strategic Security , 2009,
Abstract: The recent surge in acts of maritime piracy in the waters off the Horn of Africa stands in sharp contrast to a steep decline of such acts in Southeast Asia. In this study, we compare the development of the problem of piracy in both Southeast Asia and the Horn of Africa. We find that four main elements contributed to the recent decline in piracy in Southeast Asia: U.S. hegemonic interests, existing and emergent international institutions, bilateral relations among regional actors, and the density of naval forces in the region. Unfortunately, not all of these conditions are present in the Horn of Africa. Thus, the problem of piracy in that region will require new and innovative solutions.
