O PROUNI no governo Lula e o jogo político em torno do acesso ao ensino superior
Carvalho, Cristina Helena Almeida de;
Educa??o & Sociedade , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-73302006000300016
Abstract: this paper aims at understanding the complex and dynamic relationships between the public policy for higher education in lula's administration, in what regards the project university for all (prouni), and its connection with fiscal policy and financing by way of tributary renouncement. it also intends to analyze the conditions of access of poor students and discuss the program as a democratizing public policy. in this context, the civil society approval in search of graduation certificate allied to the pressure of private representatives associations. the attempt to regulate the system and obtain return on the fiscal renouncement allowed to philanthropic institutions was restricted by the legal text, which evolved toward the slackening of the state framework. the author concludes that the obstacle to democratization is the lack of public and free places. to date, the measures aimed at increasing the federal sector are still insufficient to revert this perverse situation.

Almeida, Carla Cristina Lima de;
Cadernos de Saúde Pública , 2002, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-311X2002000300028
Abstract: studies in the field of reproductive health discuss existing gaps in traditional research models, which neglect not only social and cultural aspects but also ethical and philosophical ones. such aspects cut cross over the definition of essential themes for reproductive health research, like sexuality, reproduction, and gender. the search for connections between the two disciplines (social science and public health) relates to how people and social groups limit and deal with the risks they face. in this study, we analyze the perception of risk in reproductive health among a group of low-income men from rio de janeiro. the group was interviewed during a study on male contraception. the objective was to identify the situations and contexts from which the problem (and the contents ascribed to it) emerge. one can conclude from the interviews that there is a risk hierarchy which is modified according to cultural values and relational, institutional, and social contexts.

Somatic embryogenesis and in vitro plant regeneration from pejibaye adult plant leaf primordia
Almeida, Marcílio de;Almeida, Cristina Vieira de;
Pesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-204X2006000900015
Abstract: the aim of this work was to evaluate a protocol for plant regeneration by means of somatic embryos obtained from isolated adult pejibaye leaf primordia, and to describe histological origin of embryos and morphogenetic response. explants were cultivated in modified ms medium. mesophyll parenchymatous cells originated meristemoids (preembryonic complex formation) induced with 7.1 μm bap in the first two subculture periods. after polarized structures with 12.9 μm naa and 3.55 μm bap were formed in the third subculture, somatic embryos developed and regenerated normal plants. the mesophyll parenchymatous cells display high capacity of direct response to the auxin and cytokinin.

Almeida, Cristina Vieira de;Yara, Ricardo;Almeida, Marcílio de;
Pesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-204X2005000500007
Abstract: losses of micropropagated plants occur in its majority due to presence of microorganisms responsible for plant death both in culture beginning and plant establishment in field. two years in vitro cultivated pejibaye shoot tips, showed the presence of fungi colonies after transference for new culture medium. this paper aimed at identifying fungi, by classical taxonomy and by molecular methods, present in shoot tip of healthy pejibaye plants, cultivated in the field, and to compare them with isolated ones of in vitro plants. the isolates of endophytic fungi community of the in vitro plants were fusarium oxysporum, neotyphodium sp. and epicoccum nigrum; from the in vivo plants were fusarium sp., f. proliferatum, f. oxysporum, colletotrichum sp., alternaria gaisen, neotyphodium sp. and e. nigrum. the seven species of fungi were reinoculated in host plant, revealing different behaviour. neotyphodium sp. and e. nigrum established an endophytic interaction with the host; the other fungi acted as pathogens causing decrease in seedlings development when compared to the non-inoculated plants. species acting as endophytes present a potential use in biocontrol of pejibaye pathogens.

Almeida, Marcelo Nocelle de;Bessa, Elisabeth Cristina de Almeida;
Revista Brasileira de Zoologia , 2001, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-81752001000400009
Abstract: biological aspects of leptinaria unlamellata (d'orbigny, 1835) were studied, such as: onset of sexual maturity, occurrence of self-fertilization and shell length measurement at different stages of development. in isolated specimens of l. unilamellata, sexual maturity was reached at 74 days (minimum time) and 104 days (maximum time). for the grouped specimens, the minimum time was 71 days. the occurrence of self-fertilization was observed in both species, 100% of specimens. the total numberof young per birth varied from one to 22 (average: 7,35 ± 5,78), the total number of offsprings per mollusc varied from two to eight (average: 4,1 ± 1,41) and total number of young per mollusc varied from five to 46 (average: 30,21 ± 8,08). as to the shell length in different growth stages, it was observed that in l. unilamellata, growth rhythm was similar until 15 days for age. after this period grouped specimens showed a high growth rhythm until 105 days after which the growth rhythm of grouped specimens became constant and the growth rhythm isolated specimens became greater. grouped and isolated specimens reached a maximum size of 18,7 mm and 20,6 mm respectively. in the moment of the sexual maturity, the length of the shell in the individuals that were kept grouped was smaller than the isolated ones for l. unilamellata. in this specie individuals that were kept isolated reach larger length of shell.
Estudo do crescimento e da reprodu??o de Bradybaena similaris (Férussac) (Mollusca, Xanthonychidae) em laboratório
Almeida, Marcelo Nocelle de;Bessa, Elisabeth Cristina de Almeida;
Revista Brasileira de Zoologia , 2001, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-81752001000400010
Abstract: biological aspects of bradybaena similaris (férussac, 1821) were studied, such as: onset of sexual maturity, occurrence of self-fertilization, oviposition, incubation period, eclosion rate and shell length measurement at different stages of development. it was noted that in isolated b. similaris the minimum and maximum time for reaching sexual maturity were 109 and 180 days, respectively. when kept in groups, the minimum time was 78 days. the occurrence of self-fertilization was observed in 18.4% of specimens. the total number of eggs per oviposition varied from one to 38 (average: 3,5 ± 7,15), the total number of eggs per mollusc varied from one to 39 (average: 7,0 ± 10,21) and the total number of oviposition per mollusc varied form one to six (averege: 2,0 ± 1,27). thirty ovipositions (894 eggs) were followed and the minimum eclosion time of the young was 14 days, the maximum eclosion time was 35 days and the average 23,69 days. the eclosion average percent was 81,22. as to the shell length in different growth stages, it was observed that in b. similaris the length of the shell was similar until 30 days for age. after this period isolated specimens acquired a greater growth rhythm when compared to that of grouped specimens. the maximum shell length of isolated specimens was 17,4 mm whereas grouped specimens reached 14,5 mm. in this specie, individuals that were kept grouped became sexually mature earlier than isolated ones. individuals kept isolated reach larger length of shell. in the moment of the sexual maturity, the length of the shell in the individuals tha were kept isolated was smaller than the grouped.
Posi??es singulares do 'l' em reescritas de fábulas produzidas por alunos do 3o ano do ensino fundamental
Felipeto, Cristina;Lopes, Adna de Almeida;
Alfa : Revista de Linguística (S?o José do Rio Preto) , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S1981-57942012000200013
Abstract: this paper analyzes misspellings presenting irregular combinations that are not in conformity with the (ortho)graphic system of the portuguese language, based on a reflection about the relationships that are established in the process of learning orthography. through a linguistic bias, it attempts to explain the singular positions of the letter l in rewritings of fables by third grade students from a primary school in maceió, state of alagoas, brazil. for this reflection, it seeks theoretical support from discussions about the constitution of the subject and the workings of language (dufour, 2000; authier-revuz, 1995); about the relevance of singular data (plane, 2006; veken, 2002); and about the metaphorical and metonymical processes (milner, 1989; lemos, 1988) that drive data analysis in language acquisition. the data indicate that, among the components that are at stake in the acquisition of orthography, writing and orality play a fundamental role. thus, the indication of support for orality alone does not suffice to account for the complexity in question. during the process of acquiring written language, the student gets in contact with the specificities of graphic signs and the combinations of these signs, which implies the elimination of other spellings or combinations.
Avalia??o de compósitos odontológicos por análise térmica e microscopia eletr?nica de varredura
Almeida, Cristina C. de;Mothé, Cheila G.;
Polímeros , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-14282009000100018
Abstract: the aim of this work is to characterize photosensitive dental composites by thermal analysis (tg, dtg and dta) and scanning electron microscopy (sem). among the commercial brands analyzed, four were for indirect use, resilab (wilcos/brazil), epricord (kuraray/japan), signum (heraeus kulzer/germany) and sinfony (3m/usa), while the other two were for direct use, namely 4seasons (ivoclar vivadent/liechtenstein) and esthet x (dentsply/usa). composites for direct use were cured during 20 seconds, while the indirect ones were cured for 180 seconds on different instruments, as indicated by the producers. thermal decomposition of dental composites (cured and uncured) was studied between 30 and 800 °c with a nitrogen flow of 120 ml.min-1. thermogravimetry curves (tg) showed that composites which presented a better thermal stability showed smaller amount of residues at 800 °c. composites micrographs showed different particle sizes. thermal analysis seems to be an interesting tool to evaluate the thermal behavior of dental composites.
