Phosphorus rates on yield and quality of lettuce seeds

Abstract: because of lack of information about phosphorus fertilization in lettuce from the standpoint of seed production, this study was undertaken. the work was carried out in botucatu, s?o paulo state, brazil, from september 25, 2003 to february 19, 2004, in order to study the influence of crescents phosphorus rates on yield and quality of lettuce seeds, cultivar ver?nica. the experimental design was randomized blocks with five treatments (0; 200; 400; 600 and 800 kg ha-1 of p2o5) and five replications. the following characteristics were evaluated: seed production per plant (g plant-1), number of seeds per plant and quality (percentage of germination and seed vigor). a linear increasing was observed on production and number of seeds per plant of lettuce with phosphorus rates, but these rates did not affect the seed physiological quality evaluated on weight of 1,000 seeds (average = 0.91 g), first count of germination (98%), standard germination test (99%), seed germination speed index (68.5), seedling emergence speed index (97.0) and emerged seedlings (49.3%).
Influencia de doses de potássio nos teores de macronutrientes em plantas e sementes de alface

Abstract: the influence of potassium rates applied in side dressing was evaluated on the nutrient content of lettuce plants cultivated for seed production. the experiment was carried out in randomized complete blocks, with five treatments (0.0; 1.0; 1.5; 2.0 and 2.5 g plant-1 of k2o) and six replications. only the potassium and the magnesium content in the dry matter of the plant aboveground part was affected by the treatments. the potassium content increased and the magnesium content decreased, both linearly, as an effect of the application of increasing potassium rates. also, despite of the effect on the plant potassium content, the treatments did not affect the seed macronutrient content.
Nutrient absorption and response of lettuce to phosphorus fertilization

Abstract: The objective of this study was to evaluate the response of lettuce (cultivar Ver nica) to different levels of phosphorus fertilization. The experiment was conducted from 25/09/2003 (sowing) to 03/12/2003 (harvesting) at the Fazenda Experimental S o Manuel, UNESP/FCA, Botucatu/SP, under protective structures. The experiment was conducted in a randomized block design, with five treatments (0, 200, 400, 600 and 800kg.ha-1 of P2O5, in the form of triple superphosphate) and five replications. Plants were grown in 13L plastic pots containing Latossolo Vermelho Distrófico Típico. A quadratic response was observed for the fresh mass of the plant shoots and leaf area, with maximum equivalent levels of 733 and 756kg.ha-1 of P2O5, respectively, as well as for potassium, calcium, magnesium, sulfur, boron, copper, iron, manganese and zinc accumulation. Linear increases were observed with the treatments of P2O5 for dry mass of the shoots, leaf number, plant height and nitrogen and phosphorus accumulation.

Abstract: there exist a lack of information about the fertilization of vegetables where occurr an increase of the vegetative cycle, when the seeds production is the final purpose. the influence of potassium rates was evaluated in lettuce cultivar ver?nica for yield and quality of seeds. the experiment was conducted in randomized complete blocks, with five treatments (0,0; 1,0; 1,5; 2,0 e 2,5g plant-1 of k2o) and six replications. the data were submitted to the variance analysis and to the regression analysis. the k2o rates resulted in a linear increase in the seed yield (mass and number) but did not affect the seed quality.

Abstract: This study was carried out at S o Manuel Experimental Farm, UNESP/FCA, in Botucatu, S o Paulo state, Brazil, with the objective to evaluate the lettuce seeds (cultivar Ver nica) germination from plants cultivated with different phosphorus levels at harvest, in three temperatures and after two conservation period in dry chamber. At seed production stage, the experiment was conducted in randomized complete blocks, with five treatments (0; 200; 400; 600 and 800 kg ha-1 of P2O5) and five replications. After harvesting, seed germination at 20oC and under high temperatures (30 and 33oC) was evaluated. After 15 and 25 months of conservation in dry chamber room it was evaluated germination at 20oC. The P2O5 levels evaluated did not affect seed germination soon after harvesting at the three temperatures evaluated, but, the higher the temperature, the lower the seed vigor. After 25 months of conservation, the lesser the P2O5 rates, the lesser seed germination and germination speed index. Este trabalho foi conduzido na Fazenda Experimental S o Manuel pertencente à UNESP/FCA, Botucatu/SP, com o objetivo de avaliar a germina o de sementes de alface (cultivar Ver nica) obtidas de plantas cultivadas com diferentes doses de fósforo, logo após a colheita, em três temperaturas e após dois períodos de conserva o em camara seca. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o de blocos casualizados, com cinco tratamentos (0; 200; 400; 600 e 800 kg ha-1 de P2O5) e cinco repeti es. Após a colheita, foram avaliadas a germina o das sementes na temperatura ideal (20oC) e sob altas temperaturas (30 e 33oC). Após 15 e 25 meses de conserva o em camara seca foi avaliada a germina o a 20oC. As doses de P2O5 avaliadas n o afetaram a germina o das sementes logo após a colheita nas três temperaturas avaliadas, porém, quanto maior a temperatura, menor foi o vigor das sementes. Aos 25 meses após o armazenamento das sementes, quanto menor a dose de P2O5 menores foram a germina o e o índice de velocidade de germina o.
Nutrient uptake by greenhouse net melon Acúmulo de nutrientes e rendimento de óleo em plantas de girassol influenciados pelo vigor dos aquênios e pela densidade de semeadura

Abstract: For presenting more commercial value, the net melon (Cucumis melo L. var reticulatus Naud.) has been an option of greenhouse planting for the horticulturists. This work was carried out in Piracicaba, Brazil with the aim of evaluating the nutrient uptake from this melon cultivated in greenhouse. To obtain the nutrients accumulation in the different stages of the plant development, plants were collected in the transplant day (seedling), in the vegetative stage, in the beginning of the flowering stage, in the beginning and in the middle of fruit production period and in the harvest period. It was verified that the greatest increase of nutrient uptake happened between the beginning of the flowering and the beginning of the fruit production. The greatest dry matter accumulation happened between the beginning of the fruit production and the middle of fruit production period. The decrescent order of nutrients accumulated in the above ground part of the plant was: potassium > nitrogen > calcium > magnesium > sulphur > phosphorus > iron > manganese > zinc > copper ~ boron. O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar o acúmulo de nutrientes e o rendimento de óleo dos aquênios em plantas de girassol produzidas sob a influência do vigor dos aquênios e da densidade de semeadura. Para isto, foi instalado um experimento no campo experimental no município de Seropédica/RJ, em outubro de 2006, com três distintos lotes de aquênios de girassol cv Embrapa 122 V2000, classificados como de baixo, de médio e de alto vigor, sob duas densidades de semeadura (45.000 e 75.000 sementes ha-1). Aos 20, 60 e 100 dias após a semeadura (DAS), foram coletadas as plantas para avalia o da massa de matéria seca e do acúmulo de nitrogênio, de fósforo, de potássio e de cálcio, no caule, nas folhas e nos capítulos. Nas plantas coletadas aos 100 DAS, foi feita também a avalia o do rendimento de aquênios (kg ha-1), do teor de óleo e do rendimento de óleo (kg ha-1). Observou-se que aos 60 DAS, no período entre o florescimento e o enchimento, ocorreu maior acúmulo de massa de matéria seca e de N, P, K e Ca no caule, nas folhas e total nas plantas de girassol produzidas sob a densidade de 45.000 sementes ha-1. N o houve efeito do vigor dos aquênios e da densidade de semeadura no rendimento de óleo dos aquênios de girassol e nos índices de colheita de aquênios e nutrientes. Houve transloca o preferencial de N e P para os aquênios.

Abstract: the purpose of the present research was to evaluate the influence of nitrogen levels in covering on yield and quality of cauliflower, cultivar teresópolis gigante. the experiment was carried out at universidade estadual paulista, in s?o paulo state, brazil. the evaluated characteristics were curd weight, curd diameter, number of leaves per plant, curd nitrogen content, texture, ph, acidity, total soluble solids, ascorbic acid and reducing sugars. a linear increase in curd weight and nitrogen content in curd was observed with increasing nitrogen levels, but without affecting curd diameter and number of leaves per plant. for the quality characteristics we observed linear increase in ph with increasing nitrogen levels but to the other characteristics there were no statistical differences among the nitrogen levels evaluated.

Abstract: the experiment was carried out from march to august 2005, at fca/unesp in s?o manuel, s?o paulo state. the purpose of the present research was to study the effects of type of extended polystyrene trays with 128 and 200 cells and seedling ages of 32, 39, 46 and 53 days after sowing at transplanting in the production of broccoli 'legacy'. the experimental outline was in randomized blocks, with eight replications. head weight and diameter and leave number per plant were evaluated. it was observed that container type and seedlings age didn't influence the head weight and diameter and the leave number per plant.
PRODU O E QUALIDADE DE FRUTOS DE ERVILHA TORTA SUBMETIDAS A DIFERENTES NíVEIS DE ADUBA O POTáSSICA

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of potassium levels in the yield andquality of pea, cultivar Torta de Flor Roxa. The experiment was set up from March to July of 2006, inrandomized blocks design, with six replicates and six treatments: 0,0; 1,14; 2,34; 3,54; 4,68; 5,88 g plant-1 ofK2O applied in covering after the bloom beginning. There was no increase in edible-podded pea yield (overageof 29,34 pods and 7,37 g per plant) and the fruit quality was not altered with increase of K2O rate apllied,probably because the soil showed high level of this nutrient (5,7 mmolc dm-3). Despite the recommendation ofpotassium application in covering, this work concluded that the levels of potassium on coverage did notinfluence the yield and fruit quality of edible-podded pea.O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a influência da aplica o de níveis de potássio em coberturana produ o e na qualidade de ervilha, cultivar Torta de Flor Roxa. O experimento foi conduzido no período demar o a julho de 2006, em blocos casualizados, com seis repeti es e seis tratamentos: 0,00; 1,14; 2,34; 3,54;4,68; 5,88 g planta-1 de K2O aplicados em cobertura a partir do florescimento. N o houve aumento na produ o(com média de 29,34 vagens comerciais e 7,37 g por planta) de ervilha torta e também n o foi alterada aqualidade dos frutos com o aumento das doses de K2O fornecidas, provavelmente pelo solo já apresentar teoralto deste nutriente (5,7 mmolc dm3). Apesar de ser recomendado a aplica o de potássio em cobertura, concluiseque as doses aplicadas em cobertura n o influenciaram a produ o nem qualidade dos frutos de ervilha torta.

Abstract: We consider the minimal supersymmetric extension of the 3-3-1 model. We study the mass spectrum of this model in the fermionic and gauge bosons sectors without the antisextet. We also present some phenomenological consequences of this model at colliders such as Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and International Linear Collider (ILC).
