Abstract: chronic myeloid leukemia (cml) have been described. this chromosomal region contains the tumor suppressor gene tp53 that may be an important factor in the evolution of this disease. in this study, we used flow cytometry and western blotting to assess p53 protein expression and single stranded conformational polymorphism to examine tp53 gene alterations in three patients with cml who showed alterations in 17p. only the case with del(17)(p11) had p53 expression positive by flow cytometry and an abnormal migration pattern by sscp analysis. the importance of the correlation between the results obtained with these techniques, as well as the clinical course of the patients, are discussed.
“When the class goes on too long, the Devil takes part in it”: adab al-mu addith according to Ibn a - ala ash-Shahraz r (d. 643/1245) Lorsque la classe dure trop longtemps, le Diable y prend part : l’adab al-mu addith selon Ibn a - ala ash-Shahraz r (m. 643/1245)

Revue des Mondes Musulmans et de la Méditerranée , 2012, DOI: 10.4000/remmm.7164
Abstract: The two chapters in Ibn a - ala s (d. 643/1245) Muqaddima on the proper behaviour of teachers and students of ad th (adab al-mu addith) form the core of this study. Therein Ibn a - ala advices the mu addith n how to conduct a class of ad th. For the students he offers moral guidelines, recommends a particular curriculum and gives practical pedagogical advice. The search for possible precursors led to the main argument of this study, i.e. that Ibn a - ala used Abd al-Kar m as-Sam an s (d. 562/1166) work Adab al-imla wa- l-istimla as a direct source. Although Ibn a - ala modeled his Muqaddima after al- akim an-Naysab r s (d. 405/1014) Kitab ma rifat ul m al- ad th there are – quite unexpectedly – only minor similarities in both works regarding issues of adab al-mu addith. Taking the adab al-muft or adab al-qa literature as a model, the article finally argues that simultaneously with the canonization of ad th, Muslim scholars, in particular al- akim an-Naysab r , proposed rules according to which ad th had to be taught.

Abstract: Childhood non-Hodgkin's lymphomas, including Burkitt and Burkitt-like, are rarely diagnosed in infants. A case of B-cell lymphoma in a 13-month-old girl with extensive abdominal disease, ascites, pleural effusion, and tumor lysis syndrome is reported. Phenotypic analysis showed a germinal center B-cell phenotype, and a B-cell clonality was confirmed by polymerase chain reaction. There was no evidence of Epstein-Barr and HIV infection. The case herein reported emphasizes the need for considering the diagnosis of lymphoma even in very young children.

Abstract: the paper analyzes the total museum (museu integral - musée integral) as a core question for debate in the field of museology, as well as the different approaches and narratives developed around this concept. starting from the idea of museum as phenomenon, it unveils convergences and divergences between the theoretical matrixes that found the concepts of 'total museum', 'community museum' and 'ecomuseum', and the proposals and realizations of a museum practice devoted to the social sphere. it comments the tendency to consider the declaration of santiago as a myth and as an ideological matrix; and proposes a revision of the role and significance of the santiago roundtable, as well as of the recommendations consigned in it, for the development of museum theory and practice - analyzing their consequences and applicability in the policies and goals of museology at global level, specially in latin america. it emphasizes the need of research and deeper analyses of the relationships between museum theory and practice in latin america, which may update the mentioned concepts under the light of the contemporary epistème and according to the world key strategies for culture, heritage and development. finally, it presents the concept of inclusive museum - theoretical matrix, synchronized with the ethics and thoughts of museology in the present days.
El mundo en las manos: museos y museología en la sociedad globalizada

Abstract: based in a thorough revision of the concepts of culture, identity and development, this essay addresses the social changes happened in the world with the globalization process, giving special emphasis to the influence of globalization over museology. the aim is to rethink its capacity to act in the globalized culture, perceiving museums as agents of transformation and stimulators of social and cultural change. heritage and museum are here understood as polissemic concepts. the essay defends the idea of reinventing museums in everyday life, as mediators between the knowledge and know how of the different social groups, turning them into communication tools and instruments of understanding and intercultural tolerance. this essay starts from a reflection about the social changes happened in the world since the globalization, and it's supported in a culture, identity and development's concepts revision. it's important to identify the influence of the cultural globalization in the museology with the aid to rethink their performance capacity in the globalized world and to see the museum not only as an institution which care and protect the material rests from the past, but a transformer agent and as a stimulator factor of social and cultural changes.

Abstract: context: mutations or deletions in the tumor-suppressor gene p53 are among the commonest genetic changes found in human neoplasms including breast, lung and bowel cancers. in hematological malignancies, p53 is most often mutated in burkitt's lymphoma, with p53 mutations present in 30 to 40% of tumor samples and in 70% of cell lines. objective: to analyze the p53 gene alterations in child patients with b non-hodgkin's lymphoma. design: descriptive study. setting: tertiary oncology care center. participants: the study investigated 12 patients with childhood b non-hodgkin's lymphoma (burkitt's lymphoma). screening for p53 mutations was done by polymerase chain reaction - single strand conformational polymorphism (pcr-sscp) analysis of exon 5 to 8/9 of the gene. results: abnormal polymerase chain reaction - single strand conformational polymorphism migration pattern was observed in 4 patients (33.3%), one on exon 6 and three on exon 7. positive cases included 2 patients who died from disease. conclusion: these preliminary results suggest that p53 mutations are quite frequent in children with burkitt's lymphoma and may play a role in lymphoma genesis or disease progression.
