On the Design of Slot Cut Circularly Polarized Circular Microstrip Antennas  [PDF]

Abstract: Circularly polarized microstrip antenna is frequently realized by cutting the slot inside the patch and feeding it along the diagonal axis. In the reported literature, procedure to design them at any given frequency is not available. In proposed work, circularly polarized slot cut circular microstrip antenna at 900 MHz is discussed. By studying the surface current distributions at two orthogonal modes, formulations in their resonant length are proposed. The frequencies calculated using them closely agree with simulated results. Using proposed formulation, procedure to design circular polarized antennas at different frequencies is presented that gives circular polarized response. Thus, proposed work will be helpful to design similar circular polarized circular microstrip antenna at any desired frequency.

Abstract: We prove that a trinucleotide circular code is self-complementary if and only if its two conjugated classes are complement of each other. Using only this proposition, we prove that if a circular code is self-complementary then either both its two conjugated classes are circular codes or none is a circular code.

Abstract: In this paper we propose a new family of circular distributions, obtained by wrapping discrete skew Laplace distribution on Z = 0, ±1, ±2, around a unit circle. In contrast with many wrapped distributions, here closed form expressions exist for the probability density function, the distribution function and the characteristic function. The properties of this new family of distribution are studied.

Thermoelastic damping of the axisymmetric vibration of laminated circular plate resonators is discussed in this paper. Based on the classical laminated plate theory assumptions, the governing equations of coupled thermoelastic problems are established for axisymmetric out-of-plane vibration of trilayered circular plate. The analytical expression for thermoelastic damping is obtained and the accuracy is verified through comparison with finite element analysis results. Then some simplifications are made on the theoretical model.

Abstract: The existence of circular RNAs (circRNAs) was demonstrated over 30 years ago. They did not gain much interest at the time because they appeared to be relatively rare when compared to the abundance of the canonical linear RNAs. However, more recent evidence suggests that circRNAs are abundant in cells and tissues and possess intriguing biological properties. These recent developments have renewed our interest in this novel class of molecules. This report will provide an overview of circRNAs, discuss how they may modify our understanding of gene regulation and indicate their most likely relevance to health. The circRNAs from viruses, bacteria and archaea are not in the scope of this report, and we focused this review on circRNAs in eukaryotes.
Atmospheric Ice Accretion on Non-Rotating Vertical Circular Cylinder  [PDF]

Study of atmospheric ice accretion on a non-rotating vertical circular cylindrical object was carried out at dry and wet ice conditions. Both numerical and experimental techniques were used during this study. 3D numerical study was carried out using computational fluid dynamics based approach, whereas experimental study was carried out at Cryospheric Environmental Simulator ‘CES’ in Shinjo, Japan. A good agreement was found between experimental and numerical results. The dimensions of the cylindrical object used to measure the atmospheric ice load on structures along this study, were selected as per the ISO12494 standard. Results provide useful information about ice growth and intensity along circular cylindrical objects at different atmospheric temperatures. This research work also provides a useful base for further investigation of atmospheric ice accretion on structures particularly circular power network cables, & tower masts installed in the cold regions.

Multiple Circular Colouring as a Model for Scheduling  [PDF]

In this article we propose a new model for scheduling periodic tasks. The model is based on a variation of the circular chromatic number, called the multiple circular colouring of the conflict graph. We show that for a large class of graphs, this new model will provide better solutions than the original circular chromatic number. At the same time, it allows us to avoid the difficulty of implementation when the fractional chromatic number is used.

Abstract: An analytical approach using the Dirac-Weyl equation is implemented to obtain the energy spectrum and optical absorption of a circular graphene quantum dot in the presence of an external magnetic field. The results are obtained for the infinite-mass and zigzag boundary conditions. We found that the energy spectra of a dot with zigzag boundary condition exhibit a zero energy band regardless of the value of the magnetic field, while for the infinite mass boundary conditions, the zero energy states appear only for high magnetic fields.
