Minimum Amounts of Extracting Solvent of (A1A2···At-1)/(A2A3···At) Countercurrent Extraction Separation  [PDF]

Abstract: Minimum amounts of extracting solvent and scrubbing agent solution (denoted as Smin and Wmin respectively) mean the theoretical minimal requirements for chemicals to achieve a specified separation duty, and therefore attract more concerns in the process design of countercurrent extraction separation. Over the past decade, hyperlink extraction technology has been widely used in rare earth separation industry in China with the target to decrease chemical consumption as well as pollution discharges. However, the equations of Smin and Wmin derived in the earlier version of the theory of countercurrent extraction can only be correctly applied to two-component separation and become invalid for hyperlink processes. It is significant to develop new aspects of the theory for design of the hyperlink processes. The separation of (A1A2···At-1)/(A2A3···At) is the basic configuration in the hyperlink processes differently from in conventional processes, where A1, A2, ···, At represent different kinds of rare earth ions with the same number of valence. The separations of two and three components have been discussed and the equations of Smin and Wmin are derived in our previous works. Nevertheless, it is still significant, especially for rare earth separations, to investigate the separations with more components. The present article will therefore focus on developing new expressions for Smin and Wmin applied to the (A1A2···At﹣1)/(A2A3···At) separation. Also a five-component separation case is simulated according to the derived equations. This work is an essential part of the new theory to design the hyperlink extraction processes.

Abstract: The definition of information flow security properties are based on different semantic model, which is difficult to make comparison between them. This paper used Petri net as unified model to describe the security system, defined four security properties on Petri net and analyzed the logic relationship between them. The traditional algorithmic verification method for information flow was known as unwinding method, which was not sufficient and could be just used in deterministic system. The second work of this paper was giving a sufficient algorithmic verification method for the security properties had been defined and programming to implement the method. Finally, it shows the application of this method in covert channel.

Abstract: Fuzzy C-means (FCM) clustering is one of well-known unsupervised clustering techniques, which has been widely used in automated image segmentation. However, when the classical FCM algorithm is used for image segmentation, there are also some problems, such as weak robustness of distance measure,reguire-ments of setting the initial number of clusters in advance, without considering local image feature. In this paper, an adaptive FCM image segmentation algorithm based on the feature divergence is proposed, which can accomplish image segmentation by importing the feature divergence vector into distance measure, incorporating the cluster validity exponent to ascertain the initial number of clusters automatically and extracting the image feature according to Laws texture measure. Experimental results show that the proposed method is simple and work well for most images (especially for texture images), and has better segmentation effect than the existing FCM image segmentation.
Lattice Waves in Two-Dimensional Hexagonal Quantum Plasma Crystals

Abstract: Lattice waves including a longitudinal wave and a transverse wave in two-dimensional hexagonal quantum plasma crystals are investigated by using the modified Debye-Hückel screening potential. It is shown that there exists an unstable region of lattice parameters, where the system will melt. The general dispersion relations are derived, and the waves propagating parallel to a primitive translation vector are discussed. We find that both the longitudinal and transverse waves are acoustic-like, and the longitudinal wave has a greater sound speed than that of the transverse wave in the long wavelength limit region.
Multi-objective hybrid optimization algorithm for short term environmental/economic generation scheduling

Abstract: Short term environmental/economic generation scheduling (E/EGS) is composed of optimal unit commitment (UC) and environmental/economic dispatch (ED) in the scheduling period. In this paper the multi-objective hybrid evolutionary algorithm (MHEA) which combines randomly-weighed multi-objective evolutionary algorithm (MEA) with chaotic optimal algorithm (COA) is proposed for the short term generation scheduling problem. In the MHEA, the hierarchical genes are adopted in which the commitment genes are used for global optimization in UC and the parameter genes are used for local optimization in ED, and the constrain problem can be solved by combining genes modification with punishment function method. The chaos local linear search is also applied to good solutions to accelerate the convergence speed of algorithm and reduce the computation time. Finally, the results of a case study demonstrate the capabilities of the proposed approach to generate well-distributed Pareto-optimal solutions of the multi-objective E/EGS problem.

Abstract: The Schiff base (E)-4-chloro-2-[(pyridin-2-ylimino)methyl]phenol was reacted with InCl3·4H2O, generating the title molecular salt, (C5H7N2)3[InCl6]. The octahedral hexachloridoindate(III) anion is located on an inversion centre, and one half of the anion and two crystallographically independent cations form the asymmetric unit. One of the cations is located on a twofold rotation axis and its intra-ring C and N atoms simulate this symmetry by exchanging their positions in statistical disorder. In the crystal, weak N—H...Cl hydrogen bonds and two types of π–π interactions with centroid–centroid separations of 4.047 (3) and 4.202 (3) are observed.

Abstract: Background: The balance of the Th1 and Th2 immune response plays an important role inthe regulation of the immune system and in general health. Tumor bearinghosts are supposed to have a balance shifting to the Th2 pathway, while afavorable Th1 anti-tumor pathway is induced in tumor-resected hosts. Theclinical impacts of a tumor-related Th2 environment have not been clearlystudied. The present study was conducted to test the hypothesis that nonsmallcell lung cancer (NSCLC) has an impact on control of asthma, a wellknownTh2-predominant inflammatory disease.Method: Thirty-eight patients with the diagnoses of both asthma and lung cancer wereretrospectively enrolled. Patients were divided into two groups according totheir response to lung cancer treatment, the responder group (completeregression, partial regression and stable disease) and non-responder group(progression of disease). Asthma control test (ACT) scores were analyzedone year before diagnosis, at the time of diagnosis of lung cancer, and at thetime of re-staging after cancer treatment.Results: All the asthmatics with lung cancer had worsening of their symptomsaccording to their ACT scores at the time of diagnosis of lung cancer comparedto scores in the preceding year (21.6
Zafirlukast Improves Pulmonary Function in Patients with Moderate Persistent Asthma Receiving Regular Inhaled Steroids: A Prospective Randomized Control Study

Abstract: Background: Zafirlukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist that was invented to treatpatients with chronic asthma.Methods: To evaluate whether the zafirlukast improved the peak expiratory flow rate(PEFR) and clinical symptoms, 31 asthmatic patients with moderate persistentasthma who received regular inhaled corticosteroid were randomlydivided into the study group (N=17). They received the zafirlukast 20 mg bidfor 4 weeks, and the control group (N=14) received a placebo. Daily morningand evening PEFR and St. George's Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ) scoringwere recorded respectively. The levels of serum IgE and urineleukotriene E4 before and after treatment were measured using enzymelinked immunosorbent assay and enzyme immunoassay kits.Results: In the zafirlukast treated group, the morning PEFR was significantlyimproved from 314.4
