Effects of Inoculation of Rhizobium on Nodulation and Nitrogen Accumulation in Cowpea Subjected to Water Availabilities  [PDF]

Abstract: With high protein content, the cowpea is one of the most widely consumed legumes in northeastern Brazil. This study was aimed to evaluate the rhizobia inoculation effect on nitrogen accumulation and nodulation in cowpea subjected to water availability. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse, in a completely randomized design, with six water availabilities (40%, 60%, 80%, 100%, 120% and 140% of maximum soil water retention capacity), with four replications. Soil moisture maintenance was performed by gravimetric method. The BR3267 strain (Bradyrhizobium japonicum) recommended for cowpea grown in Brazil was used. At thirty-five days after treatments implementation, the nitrogen nutritional status was assessed through SPAD reading, shoot nitrogen concentration and total accumulation. Nodulation was assessed by nodules number and dry matter. The increased water availability provided negative effect on SPAD reading and shoots nitrogen concentration. Shoot nitrogen accumulation was favored to up to 78.8% water availability, with subsequent decline. Nodulation was favored when soil water availability was between 85% and 87%. Water availability affects nodulation and cowpea nutritional status, although negative effects are more pronounced when there is soil water excess.
LAS PARADOJAS DE LA INTERDISCIPLINARIDAD: ANNALES, ENTRE LA HISTORIA Y LAS CIENCIAS SOCIALES
Bosa,Bastien;
Historia Crítica , 2011,
Abstract: the analysis in this article emerges from the encounter between a general reflection on the shared epistemology of the social sciences and the examination of a specific body of work, in this case a reading of the journal annales. the article offers a criticism of disciplinary boundaries and explores a contradiction that characterizes the annales project. on the one hand, the reading affirms that nothing, in principal or practice, allows one to determine the essential area or method of history, sociology, anthropology, or geography as autonomous disciplines. on the other, the authors of the annales were known for their strong commitment to the discipline of history, and one can conclude that they did little to breakdown disciplinary divisions.
O que é um aborígene? Modos de categoriza??o racial no sudeste da Austrália
Bosa, Bastien;
Mana , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-93132009000100001
Abstract: this article concerns the existence of a segregated order and the functioning of the category of "aborigine" in south-western australia during the 20th century. looking beyond the "official" definitions of the aboriginal population, we will analyse the practical modalities of identification, particularly through an analysis of the census and the statistical classifications of the aborigines. we will show that, in the absence of official documents specifically geared towards the aborigines, attesting to their register in a central file, the techniques concerning their identification resembled pre-industrial forms of recognizing people, based on familiarity and on face-to-face relations. a consequence of this situation is that those people who were locally known to be aborigines, or who had physical traits that were readily identified as being aboriginal, found themselves caught in a coercitive system from which it was difficult to escape, whereas others were able to pass through the identificatory mesh without, in so doing, placing in check a markedly dichotomous system of racial relations.
?UN ETNOGRáFO ENTRE LOS ARCHIVOS? PROPUESTAS PARA UNA ESPECIALIZACIóN DE CONVENIENCIA
BOSA,BASTIEN;
Revista Colombiana de Antropología , 2010,
Abstract: this article provides a reflection on the idea of a "ethnography of/in the archives". the first part is a critique both of disciplinary separations between anthropology and history and of certain conceptions of interdisciplinarity as an "alliance of disciplines". in the second part, the author formulates an alternative proposal. on the one hand, he defends a unified vision of the social sciences, and, on the other, he advocates for the creation of a specialized "workspace", based on the implementation of the methodological program of ethnography in historical grounds. rather than talking about the confrontation between two disciplines, the authors insist on the relationships between two levels: 1) an object (the past), often believed to be the "property" of historians, but which is really a common patrimony of all social scientists. 2) a technique (the ethnography), sometimes presented as specific to anthropology, but which is important for all the social sciences.

Abstract: the aim of this article is to discuss the development of the joint attention ability and its implications for the early identification of autism. the literature review is based on both developmental theories and empirical evidence. for this purpose, a wider discussion about the development of communication and the concept of intentionality is included within which the issues about the joint attention ability are inserted. subsequently, the importance of the presence of the ja ability in the child's behavioral repertoire is focused. it is argued that the ja deficits are among the strongest predictors of developmental disorders, in particular of autism.
La segregación en acción: La exclusión de los ni?os aborígenes de la escuela de Nambucca Heads (NSW, 1915)
Bosa**,Bastien;
Revista de Estudios Sociales , 2009,
Abstract: this article focuses on a redefining moment of racial frontiers in the small town of nambucca heads on the north coast of new south wales, in the southeast of australia: the process of segregation of the school in 1915. the careful analysis of all the facets of this event (and in particular of the various forms of "indigenous reactions") will enable us to question the conditions of emergence of discriminating patterns between blacks and white, which didn't exist until then.
