The Statistical Analysis and Evaluation of Examination Results of Materials Research Methods Course  [PDF]

Abstract: The statistical analysis and evaluation of examination results provide the theoretical basis for teaching quality and management. Materials research methods course is the key course for the undergraduates major in materials science and engineering. Based on the examination results of inorganic nonmetal materials engineering specialty students in the first term of 2011-2012 school year of Wuhan University of Science and Technology, the quantitative analysis for several parameters including difficulty, discrimination and reliability were investigated. The results indicate that the distribution of examination scores approximate to normal distribution. Difficulty of the exam paper belongs to median level, and discrimination of this is qualified as well as reliability. Thus it was concluded that the design of the examination paper was good and dependable.
Effects of SnO2 Addition on the Properties of Alumina-Magnesia Refractory Castables  [PDF]

Abstract: Alumina-magnesia refractory castables have been widely used in the wall and bottom impact pad of steel ladles. The properties of alumina-magnesia refractory castables with SnO2 additive in 0 - 5 wt% range were investigated. The phase composition, microstructure, physical and mechanical properties of these refractories were studied. The results showed that the addition of SnO2 could have a great influence on the properties of alumina-magnesia refractory castables. The expansion, apparent porosity and strength of refractories with SnO2 were all more prominent than those of reference samples, which were attributed to the formation of CA6 and enhanced bonding. Meanwhile SnO2 could react with spinel and CA6 to form solid solution.

Abstract: Al/Al2O3 composites of different ratios were hot-press sintered at 575 similar to 640℃ under a pressure of 30 MPa for 2 h in a vacuum furnace. It was found that the relative density of the Al/Al2O3 composites could be increased evidently with the rise of sinter temperature. No reaction occurred between Al and Al2O3 at the sinter temperatures. Under 640℃-30 MPa-2 h experimental condition, Al/Al2O3 system FGM was successfully fabricated, and its density range changed quasi-continuously from 2.887x10(3) kg/m(3) to 3.1909x10(3) kg/m3 within the middle 1.0 mm thickness range.

Abstract: It is worth to study the synthesis of β-Sialon from coal gangue, because coal gangue is a waste of coal production andis a high quality kaolin contained carbon which is a perfect raw material of contained reducer itself for synthesis of β-Sialon. The study showed that a high conversion rate of 95% from coal gangue to β-Sialon could be obtained by usingprocess of carbothermal reduction nitridation when strictly controlled the thermodynamic conditions of synthesis. Forcontrolling the synthesis conditions easy, the details of the effects of Pco, Po2 and T on the conversion rate of β-Sialon were discussed detailedly and the phase diagrams of oxygen pressure vs composition for Si3N4-AlN-Al2O3-SiO2system at 1350, 1500, and 1600℃ were constructed in the paper.

Abstract: Through the long time track examination and disintegration to SF6 circuit breaker, we obtain the massive monitor data and massive pictures. The criteria of resuming insulation discharge failure conforming to CSO2/CH2S>7, is quite broad to SO2 and the H2S concentration permission. Even if it reaches 100µL/L, it will not be in danger immediately to the safe operation of equipment. We may plan, arrange, and overhaul calmly. When obtaining the bare conductor overheating failure, it has not involved the resuming insulation. We may use the resuming insulation discharge failure criterion.

Abstract: Any bounded analytic function $g$ induces a bounded integral operator $S_g$ on the Bloch space, the Dirichlet space and $BMOA$ respectively. $S_g$ attains its norm on the Bloch space and $BMOA$ for any $g$, but does not attain its norm on the Dirichlet space for non-constant $g$. Some results are also obtained for $S_g$ on the little Bloch space, and for another integral operator $T_g$ from the Dirichlet space to the Bergman space.
