Preparation and Study of a Composite Flocculant for Papermaking Wastewater Treatment  [PDF]

Abstract: A high flocculation performance composite flocculant was prepared with sodium alginate, polyaluminium ferric chloride and cationic polyacrylamide. And the composite flocculant was used in papermaking wastewater treatment. Results indicated that it achieve the best flocculation performance when the raw material mass ratio was 2:1:1, the dosage of the composite flocculant was 20 mg/L, and the removal efficiency of COD and turbidity with this composite flocculant reached 89.6% and 99.2%, respectively.

Abstract: Background: To provide a theoretical basis for formulating effective measures to relieve test anxiety, we understand the current situation of examination anxiety and coping styles of middle school students from different ethnic groups. Methods: A stratified cluster random sampling survey was conducted on 251 junior middle school students in a middle school in Minhe County, Qinghai Province, using the middle school students’ test anxiety factors questionnaire (IFTAS) and the middle school students’ coping styles scale (CSS). Results: 1)Increasing the grades and ages, the score of different nationalities of middle school students’ test anxieties were higher(F = 4.795, P < 0.05; F = 2.468, P < 0.05); 2) The middle school students’ coping style ofpointing to the problem” had statistical significance among grades (F = 6.673, P < 0.05). 3)

Abstract: The existence of multiple periodic solutions of the following differential delay equation ()=?((?)) is established by applying variational approaches directly, where ∈?, ∈(?,?) and >0 is a given constant. This means that we do not need to use Kaplan and Yorke's reduction technique to reduce the existence problem of the above equation to an existence problem for a related coupled system. Such a reduction method introduced first by Kaplan and Yorke in (1974) is often employed in previous papers to study the existence of periodic solutions for the above equation and its similar ones by variational approaches.

Abstract: During the nondestructive testing for metal bumper bar system, it is a critical problem that it cannot identify the reflected wave. Based on the guided-wave inspiration and through studying lots of simulations, this paper systematically analyses the states of quality test for metal bumper bar system in the following four aspects respectively: area inspired by guided-wave, time inspired by guided-wave, head-wave width inspired by guided-wave and rate inspired by guided-wave. The paper also resolves completely the critical problem and completes the subject of quality test.
A Novel Chaotic Synchronization Scheme Based on Impulsive Stability Theory

Abstract: This paper introduces a new chaotic synchronization scheme based on impulsive stability theory. The synchronization of two identical chaotic systems with parametric uncertainties and mismatch is considered. Some sufficient conditions are developed to guarantee the robust synchronization of the chaotic systems. Compared with existing schemes, the amount of information transmitted between the two systems is reduced significantly. A numerical example is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the method.

Abstract: The safety of timber structure design based on the predicted Modulus of Rupture (MOR) of poplar lumber with nondestructive methods is presented in this paper. Dynamic Modulus of Elasticity (MOE) of poplar lumber was measured with three different nondestructive methods, and static MOE and MOR were obtained by a static bending test. The regression relationship between various MOE and MOR was evaluated to predict MOR with various MOE. Then timber construction design was conducted on poplar lumber based on measured and predicted MOR. Furthermore, reliability of timber structure design was analyzed with advanced first-order second-moment method. Results indicated that mean values of predicted MOR were slightly greater than those of measured MOR, but Coefficient of Variation (COV) of them were less than those of measured MOR. The reliability index of timber structure design based on predicted MOR, varying from 2.404 to 2.574, was less than that on measured MOR as 2.831.

Nowadays, sawdust has been widely regarded as a sand replacement material to produce sawdust concrete. This thesis uses orthogonal test to analyze the mechanical and heat preservation as well as heat insulation property with the sawdust replacement ratio of 0%, 3%, 5%, 7%, 10%, respectively, to get an optimal sawdust replacement ratio. Besides, it also discusses the deficiencies of this research.

γ-Al2O3 Supported SO42-/ZrO2 Solid Superacid Catalysts for n-Pentane Isomerization  [PDF]

A solid superacid catalyst Pt-SO42-/ZrO2-A12O3 for n-pentane isomerization, was prepared by incipient-wetness impregnation. Preparetion conditions, namely, calcination temperature, concentration of sulfuric acid solution used in impregnation and Al2O3 concentration, were varied to investigate the effects on catalytic performance of Pt-SO42-/ZrO2-A12O3. The results showed that the PtSZA catalyst exhibited excellent catalytic performance for n-pentane isomerization. Under optimized preparation conditions of calcination temperature of 650°C, reaction time for 3 h, concentration of sulfuric acid solution for 0.5 mol/L, 30% of Al2O3 concentration and 0.3% of Pt concentration, the n-pentane conversion and isopentane selectivity of Pt-SO42-/ZrO2-A12O

Numerical Studies on Flow Fields Around Buildings in an Urban Street Canyon and Cross-Road

Abstract: The questions on how vortices are constructed and on the relationship between the flow patterns and concentration distributions in real street canyons are the most pressing questions in pollution control studies. In this paper, the very large eddy simulation (VLES) and large eddy simulation (LES) are applied to calculate the flow and pollutant concentration fields in an urban street canyon and a cross-road respectively. It is found that the flow separations are not only related to the canyon aspect ratios, but also with the flow velocities and wall temperatures. And the turbulent dispersions are so strongly affected by the flow fields that the pollutant concentration distributions can be distinguished from the different aspect ratios, flow velocities and wall temperatures.
