Abstract: We used data from 3202 participants aged ≥20 years from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) III (1988–1991) and 3949 participants aged ≥20 years from NHANES 2005–2008.Among participants of all four groups, unadjusted and adjusted mean concentrations of total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and apolipoprotein B, but not triglycerides, decreased significantly. Among participants with prediabetes and normoglycemia, unadjusted and adjusted mean concentrations of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol increased significantly. Adjusted mean log-transformed concentrations of triglycerides decreased in adults with undiagnosed diabetes and prediabetes. During 2005–2008, unadjusted concentrations of apolipoprotein B ≥80 mg/dl were observed in 72.8% of participants with diagnosed diabetes, 87.9% of participants with undiagnosed diabetes, 86.6% of participants with prediabetes, and 77.2% of participants with normoglycemia. The unadjusted use of cholesterol-lowering medications rose rapidly, especially among participants with diabetes (from ~1% to ~49%, P <0.001). The use of fenofibrate, gemfibrozil, and niacin rose significantly only among adults with diagnosed diabetes (from ~2% to ~8%, P?=?0.011).Lipid profiles of adults with diabetes improved during the approximately 16-year study period. Nevertheless, large percentages of adults continue to have elevated concentrations of apolipoprotein B.During the last several decades, diabetes has emerged as a major public health problem in the United States as the incidence and prevalence of obesity has escalated rapidly [1,2]. The lifetime probability of developing this disease is approximately 32.8% for men and 38.5% for women [3], and an estimated 25.6 million adults have diabetes [4]. Furthermore, diabetes has an enormous impact on health care costs in the United States; in 2007, for example, the economic costs attributable to this condition were est
Source of ore-forming material and metallogenic age of the Zheboshan gold deposit, western Sichuan Province, China
Hongbing Ji,Chaoyang Li,Jinming Wen
Chinese Science Bulletin , 1998, DOI: 10.1007/BF02883578
Abstract: The Zheboshan gold deposit, which is located in the “Gold Triangle” area on the borders of Sichuan. Gansu and Shaanxi provinces, is a very complicated micro-fine disseminated gold deposit. Considering the ICP-MS measurements and Rb and Sr isotope data, it is suggested that the orcforming materials may have come from the quartz-amphibole porphyrite dykes. It is also suggested that the age of ore depasit is generally consistent with the age of formation of the quartz-amphibole porphyrite. It is further deduced that the deposit is a magmatic hydrothermal ore deposit.

Sensor placement by maximal projection on minimum eigenspace for linear inverse problem
Chaoyang Jiang,Yeng Chai Soh,Hua Li
Computer Science , 2015,
Abstract: This paper presents a new greedy sensor placement algorithm, named maximal projection on minimum eigenspace (MPME), for linear inverse problem. For each sensing location, the projection of its observation vector onto the eigenspace associated with the minimum eigenvalue of the dual observation matrix is shown to be negative correlated with the worst case error variance (WCEV) of the estimated parameters. We individually select the sensing location whose observation vector has a maximum projection onto the eigenspace of the minimum eigenvalue of the current dual observation matrix. The proposed MPME is shown computationally more efficient than the state-of-the-art. The Monte-Carlo simulation shows that the MPME outperforms the convex relaxation method [1], the SparSenSe [2], and the FrameSense [3] in terms of the WCEV and the mean square error (MSE) of the estimated parameters, especially when the number of sensor nodes is slightly more than the dimension of the estimated vector.
An Empirical Study on the Organizational Motivation and the Related Factors of “Post-80s” Employees  [PDF]
Dongjin Yang, Chaoyang Feng
Journal of Human Resource and Sustainability Studies (JHRSS) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/jhrss.2015.34022
Abstract: A research model for the organizational motivation and outcome variables of the “Post-80s” is established in this article for large-sample survey. Through Exploratory Factor Analysis and Confirmatory Factor Analysis, the author has discovered that the organizational motivation of the “Post-80s” is comprised of five dimensions including career development, salary and benefits, leadership characteristics, institutional environment and colleague relationships; the perception of organizational motivation has a positive impact on job satisfaction, organizational commitment and employee engagement and a negative impact on turnover intention; and job satisfaction is the complete mediation between the perception of organizational motivation and turnover intention, while organizational commitment is the complete mediation between the perception of organizational motivation and employee engagement. In the end, countermeasures for the motivation of the “Post-80s” are put forward in this article.
Expression of Elongation Factor (EF)-Tu Is Correlated with Prognosis of Gastric Adenocarcinomas

International Journal of Molecular Sciences , 2011, DOI: 10.3390/ijms12106645
Abstract: Altered expressions of mitochondria elongation factor Tu (EF-Tu) have been observed in certain types of cancers, including gastric cancer cell lines, but the impact of the alterations in gastric adenocarcinoma remains unclear. The purpose of this study was to investigate the expression of EF-Tu in gastric adenocarcinoma and to assess its clinical significance. A total of 104 paired resected gastric adenocarcinoma and corresponding normal specimens were collected in this study. EF-Tu expression was assessed by immunohistochemical staining. The correlation of EF-Tu expression and patients’ clinicopathological parameters was statically evaluated and the prognostic significance of EF-Tu expression was assessed by univariate and multivariate analyses. Forty-nine out of 104 (47.1%) gastric adenocarcinoma specimens showed high expression of EF-Tu, while the remaining 55 specimens showed weak or negative expression of EF-Tu. In contrast, EF-Tu high expression was detected in 62.5% (65 of 104) normal tissues. Down-regulation of EF-Tu was associated with serosal invasion ( P = 0.042) and node involvement ( P = 0.005), and down-regulation of EF-Tu was correlated with poor overall survival ( P = 0.020). In curative resection (R0) patients, there were also significant differences ( P = 0.043). In the multivariate analysis, the EF-Tu expression remained a significant independent prognostic factor ( P = 0.038). Our results indicate that EF-Tu is expressed in both gastric adenocarcinoma and corresponding normal tissues. Down-regulation of EF-Tu expression is associated with advanced disease stage and EF-Tu expression maybe served as an independent prognostic factor.

Abstract: Using self-reported data from 143,386 overweight/obese participants (aged ≥ 18 years) in the 2003 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, we examined the proportion of overweight/obese adults who tried to lose weight and their weight control strategies by hypertension and/or diabetes status.Among all participants, 58% of those with hypertension, 60% of those with diabetes, and 72% of those with both diseases tried to lose weight, significantly higher than the 50% of those with neither condition (Bonferroni corrected P < 0.017 for all comparisons). The multivariate-adjusted odds ratio (AOR) for trying to lose weight was 1.11 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.05–1.17) in participants with hypertension, 1.02 (95% CI: 0.90–1.15) in participants with diabetes, and 1.18 (95% CI: 1.07–1.29) in participants with both diseases (participants with neither condition as the referent). Among 78,446 participants who tried to lose weight, 23% of those with hypertension only and 28% of those with both hypertension and diabetes reported adopting a low fat/low calorie (LF/LC) diet in controlling their weight, significantly higher than 19% of those with neither disease (Bonferroni corrected P < 0.017 for all comparisons). Participants with both diseases had a significantly lower percentage of adopting physical activity in controlling their weight than those with neither condition (6% versus 12%, P < 0.01). After multivariate adjustment, the AOR for adopting a LF/LC diet plus physical activity to lose weight was 1.46 (95% CI: 1.15–1.84) in participants with both diseases. The AOR for adopting a LF/LC diet only to lose weight was 1.72 (95% CI: 1.35–2.20) in participants with both diseases and was 1.21 (95% CI: 1.03–1.40) in participants with hypertension only. The proportion of overweight/obese patients with diagnosed hypertension and/or diabetes who attempted to lose weight remains suboptimal and the weight control strategies varied significantly among these patients. The rising trend

Science China Life Sciences , 2000, DOI: 10.1007/BF02879129
Abstract: Based on reported TMV-U1 sequence, primers were designed and fragments covering the entire genome of TMV broad bean strain (TMV-B) were obtained with RT-PCR. These fragments were cloned and sequenced and the 5’ and 3’ end sequences of genome were confirmed with RACE. The complete sequence of TMV-B comprises 6 395 nucleotides (nt) and four open reading frames, which correspond to 126 ku (1 116 amino acids), 183 ku (1 616 amino acids), 30 ku (268 amino acids) and 17.5 ku proteins (159 amino acids). The complete nucleotide sequence of TMV-B is 99.4% identical to that of TMV-U1. The two virus isolates share the same sequence of 5’, 3’ non-coding region and 17.5 K ORF, and 6, 1 and 3 amino acid changes are found in 126 K protein, 54 K protein and 30 K protein, respectively. The possible mechanism on the infection of TMV-B inVicia faba is discussed.
