Abstract: Introduction: Recent studies showed relation between mortality and bleeding in acute coronary syndromes. Objective: The objective is to analyze the prognosis of patients with acute coronary syndromes with or without in-hospital major and/or minor bleedings. Methods: This was a pro-spective data bank analysis study with 546 patients (39 with bleeding (group I) and 507 without bleeding (group II)) with acute coronary syndromes included between May 2010 and May 2013. Besides, Mehran bleeding risk score was calculated to all patients. The primary endpoint was all causes of in-hospital death and combined events. Comparison between groups was made by Anova and Q-square. Multivariate analysis was determined by logistic regression and was considered significant when p < 0.05. Long-term mortality and combined events were studied using Kaplan-meyer curves. Results: The median Mehran bleeding risk score was 18.78 and 15.11 in groups I and II, respectively. Major bleeding was observed in 4.4%. Significant difference was ob-served between groups I and II in deaths (20.5% vs 2.6%, p = 0.005) and combined events (35.9% vs 11.4%, p < 0.001). The same results were observed in multivariate and long-term analysis. Con-clusions: Almost half of patients with acute coronary syndromes had higher risk of bleeding, and that with major or minor bleedings had greater deaths and combined events.

Abstract: the use of the latex of euphorbia splendens var. hislopii was considered as an effective control method for biomphalaria glabrata in sumidouro, rio de janeiro. however, the appearance and expansion of the snail melanoides tuberculata since august 1997, with the concomitant reduction of the population of b. glabrata suggest that competitive exclusion might be taking place. depending on the susceptibility of the thiarid to the e. splendens toxin, the natural control that is occurring could be interrupted by the employment of the latex if the planorbid were less susceptible to the toxin. the aim of this study is to investigate the molluscicidal activity of the latex on m. tuberculata. we used 420 m. tuberculata, from sumidouro. fourteen different latex concentrations were tested using world health organization general methodology. probit analysis was used for ld90 and ld50 determination. the ld50 was 3.57 mg/l and ld90 was 6.22 mg/l. at the highest concentration (10 mg/l) there was no survival. no significant differences among replicas (c2 = 8.31; gl = 13; p > 0.05) were found. the ld90 dose for m. tuberculata was 13.8 times greater than that for b. glabrata, so that the molluscicide in the presence of the thiarid may have a synergic effect on reduction of biomphalaria populations.

Abstract: the aim of this study was to determine the toxicity of niclosamide (bayluscide ?) on melanoides tuberculata and biomphalaria glabrata under laboratory conditions. the latter species is the intermediate host of schistosoma mansoni (sambon 1917). m. tuberculata was successfully used as competitor of b. glabrata in biological control programs in french west indies. both molluscicide and biological control using m. tuberculata have proved to be successful in reducing the population density of b. glabrata. the associated use of molluscicide in this area would be an effective measure if m. tuberculata were less susceptibility to the molluscicide than b. glabrata. three hundreds individuals each of b. glabrata and of m. tuberculata, collected in sumidouro, state of rio de janeiro, were used in the experiment. the molluscs were exposed to 14 different concentrations of niclosamide as recommended by the world health organization. probit analysis was used to determine the lc 50 and lc 90. the lc 50 and lc 90 values for b. glabrata were 0.077 mg/l and 0.175 mg/l, respectively and the lc 50 and lc 90 values for m. tuberculata were 0.082 mg/l and 0.221 mg/l respectively. as the lethal concentrations of niclosamide were approximately the same to both species, this could be a disadvantage when controlling b. glabrata with niclosamide in an area of m. tuberculata occurrence. it migth therefore be preferable to utilize the latex extracted from the euphorbia splendens, which presented a much higher efficiency for b. glabrata than to m. tuberculata.

Abstract: Competition between crops and weeds interfere on growth and development with harm to one or both, in different ways. To quantify these differences in competition, additive and replacement series study methods are most often used, each with different characteristics and goals. Therefore, we aimed with this work to study inter-specific competition between plants of soybean and corn against the weeds Bidens pilosa (beggartick) and Digitaria insularis (sourgrass), by two experimental methods of study: additive and replacement series (substitutive) experiments. Initial tests were performed prior to the installation of replacement series experiments to describe the intra-specific competition features for all species. For additive experiments these are unnecessary. To compare the methods of study, there were two sets of trials (an additive and a substitutive) installed under greenhouse, during the growing season 2013/14. Variables analyzed were leaf area and dry weight of shoots of crops and weeds, at 50 days after emergence. The results were analyzed according to the methods used, these being compared. It was found that the additive method supplied results most prone to be applied in the field, while the replacement series (substitutive) method was more appropriate for studies that aimed to provide detailed scientific information regarding the proportions of plants and coefficients describing the behavior of the species community.

Abstract: this text is the result of a research carried out over two years, which focused on the way how people practiced trade in minas gerais, brazil, in the middle of the last century. at that time, the activities performed by the merchant were part of his social identity. based on this assumption, the weberian capitalist ethos is questioned in the context of commerce in minas gerais in the middle of the 20th century. the arguments were mostly constructed comparing max weber's ideas to data obtained in the empirical research. thirty three semi-structured interviews were performed with people between 60 and 95 years of age who worked as mobile merchants. the reports were approached through content analysis, based on the survey of themes identified during the speeches (bardin, 2004). in the interviews, markedly characteristic elements of the protestant capitalism and traits of personalism and "irrationality" inherited from the portuguese people (holanda, 1995) were identified. apparently, the subjects under study drew on ties of affection in their trade relations not only because they wanted one more client - although it is a factor to be taken into account -, but because they saw their life and labor as interconnected circumstances. therefore, one verifies in this paper that the merchants under study are characterized as a hybrid type between what weber named traditional and modern, where affective, moral, and rational aspects weave into each other.

Abstract: the aim of this research is to evaluate the quality of the description of the methodological procedures reported in articles that employed structural equation modeling (sem), including confirmatory factor analysis and path analysis, which were published in rae, rausp, read, o&s, rac and rae-eletr?nica journals between 2001 and 2010. a checklist for evaluating the articles was derived from the literature and was validated with 33 experts. the main results of the analysis of the 68 articles found were: an inability to replicate studies due to a lack of information and the use of exploratory research strategies without further validation. on the other hand, justifying the use of sem use and the explanation of the theoretical implications of research findings are aspects that were fully met by the papers. the checklist itself is an important byproduct of this research, given that new lines of research regarding the application of the sem method are derived from it and it can also be used as a teaching tool in research methodology courses.

Abstract: this work aims to present an alternative view concerning to establishment of managerial knowledge. moreover, this work aims to highlight the relevance of practitioners-managers to the coursing of managerial knowledge, and even its appearance, in a context where there was not management course. thus, the knowledge transference and its legitimacy had not been integrated yet to the construction science rules, but it has been established in some sense besides those senses that are legitimized into an institutional perspective. firstly, this paper considers the importance of studies that adopt an approach to the management into a historical view, in order to discuss deeply at contemporary time. this is a theoretical and epistemological approach that has become stronger - mainly in others countries - and recently incorporated by brazilians researchers (costa; barros; martins, 2010). later, this work presents the foucaultian perspective that was used to support us in some reflections, principally the purposes about the constitution of discourses and the establishment of knowledge. we believe that this reflection concern to establishment of a truth production regime, similar at a science production regime, is crucial to comprehend the omission of practitioners' knowledge in studies about managerial knowledge development. in this paper we used some elements to discuss about the constitution of knowledge managerial field, mainly its development in brazil. we conclude that practical knowledge, even marginalized, has been important to the formation of managerial knowledge field, principally in the period before the establishment of this knowledge into scientifics truths production regime.

Abstract: To respond to institutionalization, the called “Hippie Fair” of Belo Horizonte exposes its members toconflicts between their quotidian practices of survival and the rules built during de process of itsconstitution. In this paper, the goal is to discussstrategy in a micro social perspective of actors, through agent’s survival issue analysis under an organization studies focus. Workers of “HippieFair”, dealing with different sources of pression, define their existences through instable and notclear paths using strategies which, usually, subvert established rules. Pathways identified in thispaper allow understanding the construction of strategies under regulation instances. To deal withthe Fair quotidian dilemmas, individuals constructand reconstruct their strategies, which “emerge”in Fair organizations as mechanisms of interactionbetween micro and macro contexts. Throughqualitative ways, these subversive practices are showed to get a better understanding of strategicmaking, what is an interesting approach under organization studies point of view.
