Revista Estudos Feministas , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-026X2003000100009
Abstract: small claims criminal courts, though created to deal with minimal offenses, are now found to be judging mostly cases of domestic violence.the male paradigm on which the creation of such courts was based causes a theoretical deficit for not having taken into account feminist criminology and gender. as a consequence of this deficit, court decisions reflect the banalisation of domestic violence and contribute to a massive shelving of suits with a consequent growing dissatisfaction on the part of the victims, all of them women.
Juizados Especiais Criminais e seu déficit teórico

Revista Estudos Feministas , 2003,
Violência doméstica e Juizados Especiais Criminais: análise a partir do feminismo e do garantismo
Campos, Carmen Hein de;Carvalho, Salo de;
Revista Estudos Feministas , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-026X2006000200005
Abstract: this article aims at demonstrating the possibility of criticism about the criminal law (lei 9.099/95) from two perspectives seen as marginal within penal law studies: the legal feminism and the penal criticism (garantismo). taking into account the victim's condition and the defendant's rights during the criminal proceedings, such discourses are linked to show the inefficacy of that law towards both the victim and the defendant.
ROMANCE AND PSEUDOSCIENCE: FEMALE INDOCTRINATION IN HYGIENE MANUALS, 1850S - TURN OF THE CENTURY (ROMANTICISMO Y PSEUDOCIENCIA: EL ADOCTRINAMIENTO DE LA MUJER EN MANUALES DE HIGIENE, 1850 - FIN DE SIGLO)

Abstract: : From mid nineteenth century onwards the publication of prescriptive literature for and about women increasingly rose in Spain until reaching its peak by the turn of the century: manuals, essays, treatises and textbooks for girls experienced an unprecedented boom. Hygiene manuals in particular intended to convince women of the need to be guided by male doctors and, while prescribing hygienic practices to improve women’s health and that of their families, manuals also prescribed social roles such as that of wife and mother. Thus, the female body and the ways to keep it healthy became a way of preserving Spain’s status quo and traditional male authority. The most convincing technique to reinforce that authority was the use of a scientific halo conveyed by medical discourse, with which the authors empowered themselves and their works. However, scientific discourse in hygiene manuals was full of fissures: science was curiously mixed with the popular and the romantic, the literary and ancient beliefs about the female body and mind more in accordance with superstition than scientific objectivity.

Chiral Pt/ZrO2 Catalysts. Enantioselective Hydrogenation of 1-phenyl-1,2-propanedione
Claudia Urbina,Cristian Campos,Gina Pecchi,Carmen Claver,Patricio Reyes
Molecules , 2010, DOI: 10.3390/molecules15053428
Abstract: The enantioselective hydrogenation of 1-phenyl-1,2-propanedioneover Pt colloids stabilized with (R,S)-4,5-dihydro-4,5-diphenyl-2-(6-cyanopyridinyl)imidazoline (CI) supported on a meso-structured ZrO2 under a pressure of 40 bar of H2 at 298 K has been investigated. The metal loading in all catalysts was 1 wt%. The effect of the amount of chiral modifier on the metal particle size and on the catalytic behavior was analyzed. It was found that as the CI/Pt molar ratio increases from 2.5 to 3.5 the Pt crystal size decreases from 3.0 to 1.8 nm. All catalysts were very active in the studied reaction, with the most active one being the catalyst with smaller Pt particles, whereas the selectivity is higher in those catalysts with larger chiral modified Pt metal particles.

Abstract: Background Hereditary Hyperferritinaemia Cataract Syndrome (HHCS) is a rare autosomal dominant disease characterized by increased serum ferritin levels and early onset of bilateral cataract. The disease is caused by mutations in the Iron-Responsive Element (IRE) located in the 5′ untranslated region of L-Ferritin (FTL) mRNA, which post-transcriptionally regulates ferritin expression. Methods We describe two families presenting high serum ferritin levels and juvenile cataract with novel mutations in the L-ferritin IRE. The mutations were further characterized by in vitro functional studies. Results We have identified two novel mutations in the IRE of L-Ferritin causing HHCS: the Badalona +36C > U and the Heidelberg +52 G > C mutation. Both mutations conferred reduced binding affinity on recombinant Iron Regulatory Proteins (IPRs) in EMSA experiments. Interestingly, the Badalona +36C > U mutation was found not only in heterozygosity, as expected for an autosomal dominant disease, but also in the homozygous state in some affected subjects. Additionally we report an update of all mutations identified so far to cause HHCS. Conclusions The Badalona +36C > U and Heidelberg +52 G > C mutations within the L-ferritin IRE only mildly alter the binding capacity of the Iron Regulatory Proteins but are still causative for the disease.
Luis Ahumada Figueroa,Carmen Montecinos Sanhueza,Vicente Sisto Campos

Abstract: the aim of this research is to study students′ motivation for physical activity and sport in Faculty of Education of University of Seville. The sample (N=409) is constituted for students from this Faculty (±4.8%; 95%CI) and a specific questionnaire, built to that effect and structured in five sections, was used to obtain dates. This instrument was validated by different experts on this area of studies, statistic tests was done to check its reliability (Alpha Cronbach: .78) and factor analysis has been done in certain items, using SPSS V.15. The main results showed that the main motives to physical activity practice are related to be in good health and aesthetics, enjoyment and social relations, meanwhile, the main motives to have not ever practice physical activity or have given it up, are both related to time availability or lack of time, interest to physical activity and sport offer
