Abstract: The cultivation of cotton is a relevant socioeconomic activity in the Brazilian agricultural scenario. In the Brazilian Northeast, however, production is limited by low rainfall, requiring water supplementation, a problem for the cotton cultivation practiced in the semi-arid region, due to the presence of saline ions in several water sources, from where the water is used for irrigation. It is necessary to identify cultivars that better tolerate saline stress in order to provide subsidies for their cultivation under such conditions. In this sense, the objective was to evaluate the tolerance of cotton cultivars to salinity. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse, belonging to the Natural Resource Technology Center of the Federal University of Campina Grande, Campus I, Campina Grande, Brazil, in a completely randomized design in a 2 × 5 factorial scheme, with four replications, totaling 40 experimental units (BRS 368 RF and BRS SAFIRA) submitted to five saline levels (1.5, 3.0, 4.5, 6.0 and 7.5 dS·mˉ1). Irrigation with water saline of EC from 1.5 dS·mˉ1 affects adversely the growth of cotton cultivars, causing reductions in plant height, stem diameter, leaf area and number of leaves. Saline stress reduced the levels of the photosynthetic pigments of the cotton plants studied.

Abstract: the guided policies designed to modify the health care system occurred in three stages: the first occurred at the end of the military regimen with the implantation of the integrated actions of health (ais); the second came with the implantation of the unified and decentralized health system (suds) in 1987; and the third was the promulgation of the constitution in 1988, when the brazilian unified health system (sus), an organizational structure based on principles of citizenship and social justice, was then created. with the creation of sus, there was the need for defining objectives and strategic lines of direction for the decentralization process, concerning responsibility aspects, relations among managers, and criteria of transference from federal to state and municipal levels. thus, the objective of this study was to accomplish a recent retrospective of the budgetary plan aimed at health care, with an approach on dental care. data collected from the ministry of health (datasus) between 1998 and 2005 were used in this retrospective study. in conclusion, a positive situation was observed for transferred annual values, suggesting that the reorganization and financial structure of the brazilian health system is starting to work.

Abstract: the aim of this study was to evaluate 209 samples (100 females and 109 males) of astyanax fasciatus (cuvier, 1819) collected from the ceará mirim river, rio grande do norte state, (5°37's e 35°39'w), between february 1996 and april 1997. the sex ratio was 1:1 and the the total length varied from 3.0 to 9.0cm, with most classes between 4.0-5.0 cm and 7.0-8.0 cm. the estimated value for the parameter (q = 2,59) suggests that this specie has an alometric growing pattern. the igs value started to increase in november-december-january, following the rainfall while the condition factor values showed.

Working time diversification has turned individuals′ working life into a difficult ground in which multiple and different temporalities that are interwined demand to be combine coherently. Several social studies on time have often omitted the role of expectations within the production of individual strategies through which flexible workers pretend to combine the temporal diversity that shape their working experience. This overlooking seems to be rooted in considering the same both the problem of temporal articulation and the problem of coordination of time schedules and timetables and, hence, considering that time is only referred to the length and the measurement of time. At the contrary, this article maintain that diversification of working times also includes diversification of working expectations. Hence, strategies includes not only time tables, time schedules and careers but also working expectations both own and other ones. Consequently, time included within strategies is not only referred to the length and measurement of time but also to the future horizon upon which hopes, fears and previsions are cast that allow individuals to guide their prese

Abstract: Workers′ identities are linked to the experience of time and temporal experience has undergone significant alterations due to the transformations of the world of work in recent decades. This article defends the hypothesis that each model of organization of working time results in different narrative identities. Furthermore, this article is based on the idea that the workers shape their identities through the construction of a narrative through which they combine their experience of internal time and external time. In order to obtain some evidence, the narrative identities of three groups of workers from different work contexts in which working time is organized differently will be analyzed.

Sociology Mind (SM) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/sm.2015.53016
Abstract: One of the aspects that configure the social agreement these days in Ecuador is based on the “Food Sovereignty”. In this sense, this paper tries to identify and validate determinant factors over the consumption of ecological food in Ecuador. Among other factors, the authors analyse the demo-graphic characteristics, the knowledge about organic agriculture, the attitudes towards environmental issues, the considerations about organic product sales, the lifestyles and the main priorities when choosing food. The population of study was the city of Ambato, province of Tungurahua (Ecuador) with a sample size of 400 subjects in order to determine the patterns of organic consumption right there. In particular, this research was conducted through a face-to-face survey of 40 questions considering 86 variables divided into blocks of perceptions, attitudes, behaviours and socio-demographic profiles, such as income source, home size, education level, lifestyle or monthly family incomes. Hence, a model of analysis is determined on the awareness of organic products and its association with ecological purchase.
