Produtividade da chicória (Cichorium endivia L.) em fun??o de tipos de bandejas e idade de transplante de mudas

Abstract: endive (cichorium endivia l.) production has increased in brazil, where it is currently considered an important vegetable, being consumed mainly as salad. however, the studies about this crop are scarce. this work aimed to avaluate the effects of tray types and age of seedlings at transplanting on endive yield. seedlings were produced under protected cultivation, with the cultivar af-254 (sakata). the experimental design used was a randomized blocks, with four replications, and the treatments arranged in a factorial scheme 4x3, being four seedlings age at transplanting (25, 30, 35 and 42 days after sowing) and three tray types (with 128, 200 and 288 cells). the substrate used was plantmax?. seeds were sowed between the period of march, 11th to march, 28th, in 2005, with the intervals of seven days from the first to second sowing, and five days from each other. the seedlings were tranplanted in may, 23th, in plots with three rows and plants arranged in 0,30x0,30m. plants were harvested as they reached maturation. seedlings produced on tray of 128 cells were superior, independent of the age. the highest difference was observed when trays with 128 and 288 cells were compared. the highest point of seedlings development was observed between 30 and 40 days on the three tray types. the best option for endive production was obtained from seedlings produced on tray of 128 cells and with ages of 30 and 35 days. the high yield obtained with the seedlings from 128 trays repay the cost on seedlings production.

Abstract: the present trial was realized in ponta grossa (pr) and aimed to evaluate the viability of onion seedling production in polyestyrene trays, compared to conventional system on seedbed, using three cultivars the experimental design used was a randomized block with three replications. the treatments were arranged in a factorial scheme 3x3, being three seedlings type (from trays with 200 and 288 cells and from seedbed), and three cultivars (mercedes, bola precoce and crioula). seedlings production on trays were realized under protected cultivation and seedlings from seedbeds produced in the field. seeds were sowed in may,15th. at 57 days the seedlings were evaluated and then transplanted in plots with four rows and plants arranged in 0,40x0,08m, with 312.500 plants.ha-1. the harvest was realized according to the plant maturation stage. bulbs were dried and then yield were evaluated. the production cost and seedlings viability were calculated. it was observed the seedlings from trays were superior when compared to seedlings from seedbed, mainly those from 200 cells.this higher seedling quality reflected on later performance obtaining the highest yield from trays of 200 cells. it was intermediary with 288 trays and lower from seedbed seedling. it was observed low seedling useful from seedbed during the selection process (50%). in the case of hybrid the cost of seedling production in seedbed was high, almost comparable to seedling production of open pollinated cultivars on trays of 288 cells. the best cultivars were crioula and mercedes. seedlings production on trays mainly on 200 cells showed viability and represents an important alternative to increase onion yield in a competitive market.

Abstract: onion crop (allium cepa l.) is one of the important vegetable on south, with 71,8% of the whole onion area in brazil. from this total, paraná state shows only 8,6% having low yield of 10,7 t/ha. its necessary advance on the usual technology and new techniques to become competitive. this experiment aimed to evaluate seedlings production on differents trays and its performance on plant development, bulb yield and quality under no tillage system. seedlings production were carrried on protected cultivation, with a experimental design of randomized block and three replications; the treatments followed a factorial scheme 4 x 3, being four cultivars (mercedes, bola precoce, crioula and montana) and three polystyrene trays (128, 200 and 288 cells). seedlings obtained from trays of 128 cells were named m1, and those one obtained from 200 (m2) and 288 (m3). the substrate was plantmax? and seeds were sowed in june, 16th. at 54 days seedlings were avaluated on the characteristics of height of upper part and root, fresh and dry weight of up ground and root material. at the field trial, the seedlings were transplanted at 55 days using a experimental design with three replications and the following treatments: mercedes m1; mercedes m2; mercedes m3; bola precoce m1; bola precoce m2; bola precoce m3; crioula m1; crioula m2; crioula m3; montana m1; montana m2 and montana m3. during plant development it was avaluated the lenght of upper part, leaves number and the neck diameter. the harvest was realized in differents data in according of plants maturation. bulb yield were avaluated and graded by diameter into classes. the different trays (128, 200 and 288 cells) promoted the development of seedlings with different size. the best seedling quality was obtained from trays of 128 cells to all cultivars mainly on the characteristics of height of upper part, fresh weight of upper ground material and root lenght. the seedlings promoted expressive plant development, high yield (79,23 t.8000 m

Abstract: rocket crop has presented increment of production in brazil. in the other hand it has been noted the research in this crop is rare and insufficient to give enough support to increase yield. on the strength of it the present experiment had the aim to avaluate yield response on rocket crop in function of within row spacing with density of two or four seedlings per hole, during autumn and winter season in ponta grossa (pr). the experimental design was a randomized blocks with four replications. the treatments were arranged in a factorial scheme 4 x 2, being four within row spacing (5, 10, 15 and 20 cm) and two density of seedlings per cell (two or four). the seedlings were produced on trays of 200 cells under protected cultivation, with the cultivar cultivada, during the period of march, 28 to april, 16 on autumn season, and at july, 11 to august, 5 on winter season. four or two seeds per cell were sowed. each plot had 32 plants, arranged in four rows spaced 20 cm among them. at harvest at thirty days of transplanting on autumn season and at thirty-five days on winter season it was avaluated: lenght of upper part, leaves number, fresh and dried matter and yield of fresh matter.m-2. on the individual plant characteristic it was observed superior yield response of two seedlings/cell density and within row as 15 and 20 cm on lenght of upper part, leaves number, fresh and dried matter weight per plant. however, considering the usual way of commercialization of rocket mainly on bunch the narrow within row spacing as 5 cm on autumn season and both the narrow within row spacing and density of four seedlings promoted the highest yield on fresh matter weight.m-2. compared to winter season it was observed earlier harvest about 11 days in autumn when predominated temperatures around 200 c.

Abstract: in brazil endive have shown increasing consumption as salad and contributes primarily with vitamins and minerals to the human diet. although the increasing economic value there are a few studies about the crop. the experiments were realized in ponta grossa paraná state, brazil to avaluate the endive seedlings production from two cultivars in differents trays and the performance in field. two planting dates were avaluated, being the first one sown in july, 20th and the second in september, 9th. seedlings were obtained under protected cultivation, using an experimental design of randomized block with four replications being the treatments arranged in a factorial scheme 2x3, with the two endive cultivars, and three types of styrofoam trays (128 cells of 40 cm3 per cell, 200 cells of 16 cm3 and 288 cells of 12 cm3). the substrate used was plantmax?. seedlings were avaluated on the following characteristics at 36 and 34 days, in the first and second crop: height of aerial part, fresh and dry weight of roots and aerial part and root lenght. in the field experiments the design was of randomized blocks with four replications and six treatments:1) cultivar crespa with seedlings obtained from trays of 128 cells; 2) cultivar crespa with seedlings obtained from trays of 200 cells; 3) cultivar crespa with seedlings obtained from trays of 288 cells; 4) cultivar lisa with seedlings obtained from trays of 128 cells; 5) cultivar lisa with seedlings obtained from trays of 200 cells; 6) cultivar lisa with seedlings obtained from trays of 288 cells. the seedlings were transplanted at 36 and 34 days in the first and second crop, respectively, in plots with eight plants in each row arranged in 0,30x0,30 m. harvesting was realized after 50 days of the transplanting date on the first crop and at 49 days on the second crop, it was avaluated the head diameter, height of aerial part, leaves number, fresh and dried weight of aerial part and roots. considering the results obtained from two crop

Abstract: competition experiments were installed at the coodetec unit in palotina, paraná state, with the objective of evaluating the influence of the cultivation of soybean in succession to a second crop season on different sowing dates on the agronomic traits and seed yield in both cultures. the experiment consisted of four field replicates, arranged in a completely randomized block design and carried out in two agricultural years (2003/2004 and 2004/2005). the individual blocks were comprised of three early-maturing soybean cultivars (cd 202, cd 215 and cd 216) sowed on five different dates (9/15, 9/30, 10/15, 10/30 and 11/15) and also three corn hybrids (cd 305, cd 306 and cd 308) that were sowed on different dates (1/30, 2/15, 3/1, 3/15 and 3/30). data were submitted to a joint analysis, and the interaction decompositions were made when verified significance. based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that early season second crop growing is a valid strategy for obtaining a good agronomical performance and better productivity in off-season corn sowing. the succession of early soybean/early corn in the off-season is a potentially viable alternative for the west region of paraná state, as long as the soybean sowing is done by the first half of october and the second crop season corn is sown in the first half of february.

Abstract: growing soybean by using early maturing soybean cultivars in anticipated sowing has been a common practice in the west of paraná state aiming at the safrinha corn (fall cropping), however, there has not been enough research reported about this fact. therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of sowing anticipation of three early maturing soybean cultivars during two agriculture years. for this purpose, competition experiments were installed at coodetec, in palotina, paraná state. a randomized complete block design with four replications was carried out within two agriculture years (2003/2004 and 2004/2005) by using three early maturing soybean cultivars (cd 202, cd 215, and cd 216) sowed on five different days (09/15, 09/30, 10/15, 10/30, and 11/15). data were collected and submitted to variance analysis and the interaction design was accomplished whenever necessary. it was verified that the preferable period for sowing was unfavorable to the seed production, especially in the second agriculture year. the highest seed yield for the three soybean cultivars was obtained from the sowing accomplished in october. potentially, sowing anticipation might be a viable alternative to the west region of paraná state.

Abstract: the article analyzes the effects of economic sectors and educational level of workers on their probability to earn higher wages, at the county level in the state of rio grande do sul. special emphasis is given to the agricultural sector, since it employs 20% of the total labor force occupied in the state. the ibge demographic census of 2000 is the basis for the data. logit is the statistical model used for the analysis. one of the conclusions of the analysis is that the possibility of the agricultural sector, in a county, to generate higher wages is limited, as long as it remains solely a producer of the primary product. in order to generate higher wages, it is necessary that the county aggregates other sectors, as for example, industrialization, storage and transportation. besides, the qualification of the worker is also important, so he can assume new job opportunities in the aggregated sectors, which contributes for higher wages.
Bioregulator application, agronomic efficiency, and quality of soybean seeds

Abstract: the application of vegetal bioregulators has shown promising results, mainly in cultures that have already reached a high level of technology. based on this context an experiment was carried out with the objective of evaluating agronomic traits of plants, such as yield and quality of seeds, produced by applying bioregulators to a soybean crop. for this purpose, the following treatments were carried out: before sowing - seed treatment (25, 50 and 75 ml for 100 kg-1 seeds); during sowing time - spraying on the sowing lines (pulverization onto the sowing lines) (50, 100 and 150 ml ha-1); between stages v5 and v6 (25, 50 and 75 ml ha-1); and the control - no treatment. emergence speed, final seedling emergence, number of pods and seeds per plant, average height of plants, first pod insertion height, duration of the cycle, final stand, degree of plant layering, and the yield and weight of one thousand seeds were evaluated. the quality of seeds was evaluated based on germination, classification of seedling vigor, tetrazolium, health test and the quantity of oil and protein tests. the highest yield of grains, an increase of 92% as compared to the control, was obtained when using the product at a dose of 75 ml ha-1. the best quality seeds and the highest oil and protein content were obtained from seeds produced by plants whose seeds were treated before sowing time using the bioregulator (75 ml for 100 kg-1 seeds).

Abstract: the study analyzes the convergence of the labor productivity in the brazilian agricultural sector in the nineties, comparing it with its productivity in the other sectors and projecting its future behavior through markov matrices. the results indicate that the brazilian states are diverging in the labor productivity in the agricultural sector. some states will move to a high level and others to a low level of labor productivity. in five of the other sectors of the brazilian economy there will be a convergence of the states with regard to the labor productivity. in three of these five sectors the states will converge to a low level of labor productivity; in one sector they will converge to two classes of low productivity and in another sector the states will move to a class of high productivity. the time required for convergence of the brazilian states is very long; indicating that the economic factors prevailing during the period on which the analysis is based did not impact very strongly on this process.
