Open Access Library Journal (OALib Journal) , 2019, DOI: 10.4236/oalib.1102816
Abstract:
Objective: To know recommendations on breastfeeding by Mexican pedia-tricians. Methods: Cross-sectional, descriptive study conducted through a survey of Mexican pediatricians. Results: Two hundred and fifty-four pedi-atricians (range 27 to 72 years) were surveyed. Most of them worked in public hospital or private practice or both. Among them 94.5% recom-mended newborn early contact with mother and 54.3% rooming. Exclusive breastfeeding was suggested by 89.8%, out of them 51.9% for 6 months. Breastfeeding on demand was counseled by 88.2% and 84.6% without fixed schedules. Pacifier use was rejected by 86.6%. 51.2% used iron supplements and 59.5% used other vitamins. Stopping breastfeeding in special situations was suggested by 87.4%; of them, 86.6% in case of infection with AIDS; 74.4% if the mother used drugs; 74.4% by infection with hepatitis B virus; 49.6% in case of mastitis; 17.3% in newborns with jaundice; and 18.5% in other situations. Finally, 93.3% of pediatricians surveyed reported interest in breastfeeding; 54.7% obtained information in medical journals; 54.7% through medical courses, and 31.9% in books. 58.3% of respondents oriented on breastfeeding according to WHO recommendations; 31.5% did so regularly and 10.2% did not. Conclusions: Pediatricians play a major role in breastfeeding promotion, but their formation is scarce and they are not prepared to counsel patients. Governments of developing countries should promote breastfeeding to ensure the health and proper development of infants.

Abstract: This work introduces the notion of edge oriented reinforced random walk which proposes in a general framework an alternative understanding of the annealed law of random walks in random environment.
Drinfeld associators, braid groups and explicit solutions of the Kashiwara-Vergne equations

Mathematics , 2009,
Abstract: The Kashiwara-Vergne (KV) conjecture states the existence of solutions of a pair of equations related with the Campbell-Baker-Hausdorff series. It was solved by Meinrenken and the first author over the real numbers, and in a formal version, by the first and last authors over a field of characteristic 0. In this paper, we give a simple and explicit formula for a map from the set of Drinfeld associators to the set of solutions of the formal KV equations. Both sets are torsors under the actions of prounipotent groups, and we show that this map is a morphism of torsors. When specialized to the KZ associator, our construction yields a solution over the reals of the original KV conjecture.
The Arcsine law as the limit of the internal DLA cluster generated by Sinai's walk

Mathematics , 2009, DOI: 10.1214/09-AIHP336
Abstract: We identify the limit of the internal DLA cluster generated by Sinai's walk as the law of a functional of a Brownian motion which turns out to be a new interpretation of the Arcsine law.

Solar Event Simulations using the HAWC Scaler System
O. Enriquez-Rivera,A. Lara,R. Caballero-Lopez,for the HAWC Collaboration
Physics , 2015,
Abstract: The High Altitude Water Cherenkov (HAWC) Observatory is an air shower array located near the volcano Sierra Negra in Mexico. The observatory has a scaler system sensitive to low energy cosmic rays (the geomagnetic cutoff for the site is 8 GV) suitable for conducting studies of solar or heliospheric transients such as Ground Level Enhancements (GLEs) and Forbush decreases. In this work we present the simulation of the HAWC response to these phenomena. We computed HAWC effective areas for different array configurations (different selection of photomultiplier tubes per detector) relevant for Forbush decreases and GLEs.
Random Young diagrams in a Rectangular Box

Mathematics , 2010,
Abstract: We exhibit the limit shape of random Young diagrams having a distribution proportional to the exponential of their area, and confined in a rectangular box. The Ornstein-Uhlenbeck bridge arises from the fluctuations around the limit shape.
Protein Bodies in Cotyledon Cells Exhibit Differential Patterns of Legumin-Like Proteins Mobilization during Seedling Germinating States  [PDF]

American Journal of Plant Sciences (AJPS) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ajps.2013.412304
Abstract:

Olive (Olea europaea L.) tree is one of the most extensive and important agricultural crop in Mediterranean countries due to its beneficial health and nutritional properties and its high economic value. Currently, olive tree constitutes the sixth most important cultivated plant in the world, spreading from the Mediterranean region of origin to new production areas such as Australia, South and North America and South Africa. However, the mobilization processes of storage materials i.e. reserve proteins during seed germination, which are largely involved in essential physiological process including plant growth and development, remain poorly understood. Morphometric and immunohistochemistry analyses of protein bodies contained in olive seed storage tissues, cotyledon and endosperm, were performed by using different microscopy techniques, including light (bright-field and fluorescence) microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. Furthermore, we used legumin-like proteins (11S-type globulins) as a molecular marker to study the mobilization of reserve proteins from PBs of cotyledons at germinating seedling stages by using immunofluorescence assays. Results demonstrated that cotyledon and endosperm are characterized by distinct PBs populations containing legumin-like proteins, distinctly discriminated by the number of PBs per cell and tissue, size, immunofluorescence and histochemical staining. These features reflect differential PBs biogenesis during development and maturation processes in olive seed tissues endosperm and cotyledon, in relation to proteins (polypeptides) final composition, SSPs processing and/or packaging during seed maturation. Three different mobilization patterns of legumin-like proteins were identified for the first time in cotyledon PBs
