Alternativas de análises em dados de medidas repetidas de bovinos de corte
Freitas, Alfredo Ribeiro de;Presotti, Cátia Valéria;Toral, Fábio Luiz Buranelo;
Revista Brasileira de Zootecnia , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-35982005000700010
Abstract: data consisting of individual records of male and female animals of purebred bos indicus beef cattle (nellore, guzerá, gir and indubrasil) weighted every three months from birth to 24 months of age available from national archive of brazilian zebu breeders association (abcz) were used to evaluate two alternatives (co)variance analyses for body weight. in the first analysis the box-cox family transformation yil = (yl-l)/l (l 1 0) or yi = log yi, for l=0 was effective in reducing the asymmetry of the coefficients and variance heterogeneity for all weights and breeds. in the second analysis a usual standard mixed model for repeated measures was used to evaluate covariance structures which accounted for the within-individual variances using the goodness of fit criteria provided by proc mixed: c2 distribution for the null hypothesis, akaike's information criterion and schwarz's bayesian criterion. the best covariance structure for all breeds was the unstructured followed by the factor-analytic for nellore, gir and indubrasil breeds and the heterogeneous composed symmetry for the guzera breed.
Memory complaints and test performance in healthy elderly persons
Mattos, Paulo;Lino, Valéria;Rizo, Luciana;Alfano, ?ngela;Araújo, Cátia;Raggio, Ronir;
Arquivos de Neuro-Psiquiatria , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S0004-282X2003000600006
Abstract: in order to compare the use of a structured self-report questionnaire with direct questioning about memory problems, 71 healthy and independent aged individuals (63 women) from the community without risk factors for cognitive deficits were objectively asked about subjective memory complaints (smc), given the memory complaint questionnaire (mac-q) and then submitted to the rey auditory verbal learning test (ravlt). smc positively correlated with higher scores on mac-q, although a significant percentage of the sample had smc and lower scores on mac-q and also no smc and higher scores on mac-q. performance on ravlt was significantly worse (p<0.05) for the group presenting smc but not for the group with higher scores on the mac-q. we conclude that direct questioning maybe more clinically significant than a self report questionnaire, at least for elderly persons from the community without risk factors for cognitive decline or depression.
Padroniza??o do teste ELISA baseado em antígeno capsular purificado dos sorotipos 3, 5 e 7 de Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae
Dutra, Valéria;Piffer, Itamar;Vargas, Agueda Castagna de;Guidoni, Ant?nio;Klein, Cátia;
Ciência Rural , 2000, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-84782000000200014
Abstract: three elisa (enzime-linked immunosorbent assay) tests based on purified capsular antigen from serotypes 3, 5 and 7 of actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, prevalent in brazil, were standardized. serum samples, collected from piglets inoculated with these three serotypes, were used to standardize the test. in order to study the dynamic of antibody synthesis, weekly blood samples were collected from these piglets. a pool of 130 sera obtained from actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae -free pigs was used as negative control for the tests. the antigens were also tested with serum samples from animals infected with other respiratory infectious agents and vaccinated against athrofic rinitis. the antigens were efficient in detecting animals infected with app. optical densities above the average of the negative control sera plus four standard deviation were detected. elisa tests to serotypes 3, 5 and 7 showed specificity of 100% and sensibility of 92, 88 and 90%, respectively. no cross reaction with other serotypes or with sera of animals inoculated with other respiratory pathogens was observed. the results were analyzed using the statistical analysis system program. antigens tested were adequate for serotyping animals previously screened through a polyvalent lps-lc elisa test.
O agente comunitário de saúde no ambito das políticas voltadas para a aten??o básica: concep??es do trabalho e da forma??o profissional
Morosini, Márcia Valéria;Corbo, Anamaria D'Andrea;Guimar?es, Cátia Correa;
Trabalho, Educa??o e Saúde , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S1981-77462007000200005
Abstract: the goal of this article is to reconstruct the recent history of community health agent professionalization in the ambit of the family health strategy, developing articulated analyses of professional education and labor management policies via political processes that have been developed, the strategies that have been deployed, the norms that have been established, and the legislation that has been produced. this article also reflects on the federal labor prosecutor's office performance in this process and of the challenges in the political scenario of these workers' organized movement, particularly on the national community health agents' confederation, aiming at these workers' actual technical qualification and at regulating their access and employment ties.
Description of the pupa of Lopesia brasiliensis Rübsaamen (Diptera, Cecidomyiidae)
