Abstract: the object of this study is the production of mental health service. it is composed by working processes organized to improve the object of the health care, through institutions and knowledge, technology and health practices. the aim of this study was to describe the conceptions of the workers of different mental health services on the production of these services. the workers took a specialization course in mental health technologies, financed by the brazilian ministry of health. data were collected during a class period, with previous participant?s authorization. among the workers of the psychiatry hospitals, mental health ambulatories and health care units, the conception of the health illness-process was multifactorial and individual centred. at the psychosocial attention center (pac) the conception appeared to be similar to the theory of the social determination. the object of the assistance was the sick person or even the illness symptom, but pac workers linked the sick person to his "social net". the challenge is to understand the social determination of the mental health-illness process and to redefine working process, in order to act not only on curing but also on preventing mental health problems.

Abstract: the objective of this study is to characterize the learning situation of nursing students with regard to psychotropic drugs. students from a public and a private school were interviewed. data analysis was thematic. the results do not suggest substantial differences between the schools regarding: learning centered on psychophar-macology; influence of media and use of common sense in the epidemiology; motivations and problems related to drug use; myth repetition and prejudice of users; disrespect of the social conflicts that involve drug problems. it is necessary to improve education on this topic so that students will have adequate knowledge to act as professionals.

Abstract: objective: to identify the different positions of young students in relation to expressions about contemporary social values. methods: a descriptive study using a quantitative approach, we used a spreadsheet to assign the positions of 229 students between 15 and 19 years, participants in 29 focus groups conducted in ten schools in four dissimilar regions in the city of santo andré (sp), brazil. young people positioned themselves regarding the agreement - doubt or disagreement - over a set of value-laden expressions sorted and discussed in groups. these positions were analyzed according to their frequencies. results: first, we identified a certain degree of uniformity of viewpoints, as a consequence of generational experience of assimilation of values disseminated in society; on the other hand, heterogeneity was evidenced that exposed inherent contradictions of the different social contexts surrounding these youths. conclusion: we identified values that differed among youths pertaining to different social groups while encountering others that did not. there was more heterogeneity than homogeneity in opinions about the evaluative expressions used.

Physis: Revista de Saúde Coletiva , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-73312010000300016
Abstract: this paper aimed to analyze the concepts that guide practices of harm reduction (hr) in brazil. forty six national publications were selected from 1994 to 2006, specially from lilacs database. from the central categories - object (what you want to transform) and subject (for whom the actions are directed), the analysis showed that the hr is very heterogeneous, with the unity object/subject represented by different equations: dependence-dependent; transmissible disease-drugusers of the marginalized and excluded populations; consumption-user of drugs; residents-ways of life of a particular "community", social risks and the general public; and production, trade and consumption of drugssocial class. it can be concluded that the different trends of hr have been built in brazil as answers to problems related to the complex phenomenon of drug use, and mean the involvement of several areas and the extension of theoretical debate.

Abstract: the object of this study is nurses' job and its relation to their health in the family health program and objective was to comprehend the characteristics of nurses' job. sixteen nurses who work in basic health units in s?o paulo city were interviewed in 2007. the nurses' ways of working were analyzed according to: working process, subjectivity, polyvalence, consuming and strengthening process. the strengthening process comes from the pleasant and rewarding relation between object and purpose of work which is acquired from most of the time done individually. nurses are committed to the job and handle with the expectation of their ability to solve problems as well as with the impossibility of finding a solution for people's problems. the usual discontinuity of tasks in progress and the development of activities they are not designated to, causes stress, agony and exacerbation. the consuming process causes physical and mental weakness that leads to health problems.

Abstract: the aim of this article is to analyze how knowledge about drug abuse and youth has been incorporated into the social practices of workshop participants to drive discussion and awareness, and how they have become tools for workers in social institutions over the past three years. thirteen interviews were carried out based on a script with questions on: topics discussed and strategies used, contributions for personal and professional development, and problem situation analyses. the results show that the participants develop practices at work and in life that are characterized by their understanding of the intertwined network of causality in drug abuse, which involves reflections on drug commodification, problems arising from the criminalization and from the labor market. contemporary values and difficulties both family and school have come up against in the socialization process of young people were also addressed. in this sense, care was seen in composing discourses that do not blame the users. preference is given to an attitude of understanding and dialogue in the face of the problem situations posed. although discourses oscillate, between the hegemonic and critical forms of capturing the problem, one can see that the more general understanding refers to the complex system of psychoactive drug production, consumption, and distribution and to the search for enhanced social solutions for the issue. the social practices that are developed, however, showed the absence of public policies to face the matter

Pereira, érica Gomes;Soares, Cássia Baldini;Campos, Célia Maria Sivalli;
Revista Latino-Americana de Enfermagem , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-11692007000600003
Abstract: this study aimed to construct the operational base of the educative work in health from a marxist perspective. reports of nursing experiences in the basic health services, published between 1988-2003, served as empirical base. the object was captured from: the participants; the action agents; the objective; health and education conceptions; and the generating necessity. the means/instruments were identified through: physical space; didactic resources; frequency of meetings; and the conception of health education. the type of evaluation; to whom it was directed; the goal to be reached and articulation between the theoretical and operational knowledge were identified in order to capture the purpose. the educative work in collective health can strengthen social groups when it becomes praxis that assumes the participant as a dialogical co-producer of the work in health.
Processo saúde-doen?a: concep??es do movimento estudantil da área da saúde
Reis, Alessandra Martins dos;Soares, Cássia Baldini;Campos, Célia Maria Sivalli;

Abstract: the goal of this paper was to analyze health-sickness conceptions of student leaders in the health area. data were collected by means of individual interviews with 15 students who take part in regional committees for students' movements in the health area, and two members of the national students union. the most emphasized health-sickness conception among the student leaders was the multi-causal one, mostly represented by factors related to consumption. also, perceptions centered on the individual, on subjectivity and idealistic conceptions stood out. few students took into consideration, in an organized way, the category of social reproduction as determining the health-sickness process. we can conclude that in the health area, students tend to reproduce concepts based on the functionalist conception of health-sickness, which takes as subject the individual "in a state of risk" concerning the development of some pathology, and suggests that the individual is responsible for the maintenance of or improvement in his/her health conditions, or even for the fight against the disease. acting as a student leader does not seem to result in criticism against the concepts that are mainly studied in university curriculums in the health area.
