Abstract: Darier disease (DD), also known as follicular keratosis, is a rare autosomal dominant hereditary acantholytic dermatosis caused by a mutation in the ATP2A2 gene. Skin lesions are characterized by persistent confluent papules, preferentially located on the seborrheic areas of the face, chest and back. The hands, feet and nails are also commonly affected. DD has a chronic course with frequent relapses. Their treatment is often difficult and unsatisfactory. We present the case of a 54-year-old male with a history of keratotic papules with a brownish-black color, with a foul-smelling, pruritic and ardent appearance on the back and trunk, since the age of 19, which worsen in the summer. His 27-year-old daughter has a similar picture with her skin lesions started at age of 17 in the region below the breast, back, trunk, feet and hands. After the skin biopsy, the diagnosis was confirmed and acitretin 30 mg/day was instituted. The importance of this case report is to alert health professionals that the diagnosis of DD should be considered in family members of patients, especially those in the first degree, and also in patients with follicular keratolytic dermatoses, being an important differential diagnosis of this group of patients diseases.

Abstract: This experiment was carried out in the fish production facilities of the Federal University of Lavras, MG – Brazil, to study relative growth and allometric coefficients of body components on body weight of Nile tilapia. Fishes, weighing between 150 and 790g, were randomly sampled during every period of growing, have been 93 of the Chitralada strain and 78 of the Supreme. After 24 hours of fasting, the fishes were insensibilized (thermal shock), slaughtered (anoxia), weighed and dissected to obtain body components weights. The allometric equation y = axb of Huxley (1932) and the statistic t (á = 0,01) were used for hypothesis test of b=1 and than the growth of the body components parts were classified in: isogonic (b=1), later (b>1) and early (b<1). The scale and fins, head and viscera didn’t show significant difference between the strains and obtained, respectively, allometry coefficient b=1, b>1 and b<1. Chitralada strain showed early growth for carcass and filleting remnants, late for skin andisogonic for fillet. On the other hand, Supreme showed isogonic growth for carcass, skin and filleting remnants and late growth for fillet, that is desirable for meat production. KEY WORDS: Allometry, fillet, fish, Supreme, Thai.

Abstract: Introduction: The involvement of undergraduate student at the beginning of their training in activities based on Primary Health Care (PHC), provides preventive and health promoting actions, and ensures the evaluation of the vulnerability of communities and people. Objectives: To analyze the opinion of students and teachers of two medicine higher education institutions on the relevance of Primary Health Care in this course. METHODS: Students and teachers should be effectively enrolled in order for the study to be conducted, being chosen in a random manner and without interferences on the part of the researchers so that the work was as reliable as possible. A cross-sectional study was conducted with interviews structured in questionnaires about what they thought about PHC. To some students and teachers of the medical course of Valen?a and Grande Rio University (UNIGRANRIO). Before receiving the questionnaire, all interviewed signed a Free and Informed Consent Term, which included the objectives and methodology of the work. Results: 310 students and 51 teachers participated in the study, where 91.43% of the students and 100% of the teachers affirmed that primary care plays a fundamental role in medical education. 94.86% of students and 97.91% of teachers, claimed that the discipline allows a greater contact between undergraduates and community. When questioned about the encouragement that teachers give to students to pursue a career in PHC, 57.87% of the students and 70.83% of the professors said they lacked in such a stimulus. Conclusion: PHC is still very neglected by governmental policies, educational institutions and by the own teachers, that often, turn they attention only to tertiary medicine and, as a consequence, a discouragement of this area occur. Therefore, a higher PHC value is necessary, allowing a more humane look at the patient, valuing their feelings, anguishes and their pathological framework.

Abstract: The Systemic Arterial Hypertension (SAH) stands out among the chronic non-transmissible pathologies that impact the cause and/or aggravation of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) on a global level, as the disease is an underestimated disorder due to non-perceptive symptoms and associated with factors and risk markers of another CVD. Therefore, establishing the risk of progression and aggravation of the SAH, according the Framingham Risk Score (FRS), allows to reducing morbidity and improving preventative measures for DCVs. This observational and transversal study approaches the data collection of patient records at the Health Family Strategy of Senhor do Bonfim, BA, which established differences by descriptive and inferential statistical analysis (correlation and regression). The aspects of hypertension associated with risk factors for atherosclerosis were analyzed, determining the risk of developing cardiovascular events in 10 years by FRS. From 432 families, 746 patients were selected, of which 340 are hypertensive individuals (SAH = 45.57%) and 406 (NSAH = 54.42%) non-hypertensives. Among the SAH the majority (31.17%) was in the age range of 63 - 77, but, in both groups, women were in stronger number. There was greater prevalence in SAH for all the characteristics analyzed, smoking (13.20%), sedentary (29.41%) and cardiovascular accident (22.60%). The SAH group is more susceptive to the CVD progress in 10 years by FRS (P < 0.0001 ANOVA). In the NSAH group, there were significant associations among all the variables analyzed as was expected, without differences between the linear correlation and regression, indicating the physio-metabolic equilibrium of the factors and markers evaluated by FRS. Already in SAH group, despite the correlations have been significant too, the regression analysis revealed that only Total Cholesterol (P = 0.0086); LDL (P < 0.0001), Glucose (P < 0.0006) and Age (P < 0.0001) have significative association with FRS. So, these factors and markers deserve more attention upon the health staff of Health Family Strategy, in the SAH course at studied population, attempt the highest cardiovascular risk by FRS (2.5 to 2.8 times) to SAH. The monitoring of high-risk patients should prioritize the lifestyle changes, employing preventive measures to SAH and CVD and atherosclerosis.

Abstract: Mesenteric adenitis consists of an important differential diagnosis of potentially serious diseases such as acute appendicitis, since they manifest themselves with a similar clinical picture. Case report: A 17-year-old male patient presented with periumbilical abdominal pain for 2 days, of abrupt onset and moderate intensity, who gave away with a common analgesic, which progressed to the right iliac fossa (RIF) and increased of intensity. He also reported liquid diarrhea, with several episodes a day, without mucus and/or blood, 38°C fever, anorexia and vomiting. He was hospitalized for investigating a possible diagnostic of Acute Appendicitis. In the exams, it was considered mesenteric adenitis, and antibiotic therapy was prescribed. The patient had complete improvement at the end of treatment. Conclusions: Given its importance as a differential diagnosis of numerous pathologies, as well as controversial before the therapeutic and diagnostic conduct, it is essential to report these cases in order to elucidate the specificities of this disease.

Abstract: the objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of body weight on processing yields of a teleost fish piracanjuba (brycon orbignyanus, valenciennes, 1849). firstly, fingerlings were reared in ponds in the fish culture of the animal sciences department, federal university of lavras, m.g. - brazil, for 18 months. then, 121 fishes were insensibilized, slaughtered, weighed and dissected, in order to determine the percentages of head (%cab), fins (%nad), visceras (%vis), skin with scales (%pe), and fillet residues (%rf), and the carcass yield (rcar) and fillet without skin yield (rfsp), in relation to body weight. for analyses of variances, data were distributed over four weight classes (cp1 = 515 to 629g; cp2 = 630 to 744g; cp3 = 745 to 859g; and cp4 = 860 to 975g) and the regression equations were estimated in function of mean weight of each class. there was no effect (p>0,05) of weight class on rcar, %nad and %pe. however, a linear effect of body weight on %cab (p<0,01), %rf (p<0,01) and rfsp (p<0,09) and a quadratic effect on %vis (p<0,05) were observed. the %cab and %rf decreased while rfsp and %vis increased, with the increase of body weight. based on these results, it can be concluded that heavier piracanjubas provide larger rfsp, smaller %cab and smaller %rf. the smaller %cab on heavier fish did not increase rcar, as expected probably because of the increase on %vis.

Abstract: with the objective of evaluating the yield processing of tilapia strains in function of body weight, an experiment was carried out at the fish culture of the animal sciences department, federal university of lavras, m.g. - brazil. a total 93 fish of the chitralada strain and 78 of the supreme strain, weighting between 150 and 790 g were used. the fish were cultivated in two tanks of 40 m2, fed with commercial ration supplied according to the biomass and water temperature. the water temperature and oxygen were evaluated every day, at the early morning and at the late afternoon, and the ph checked weekly. during the fish growth, random samples were taken. after 24 hours of fasting, the fish were insensibilized (thermal shock), slaughtered (anoxia), weighted and dissected. the regression analysis showed that in higher weight, the chitralada strain presented higher head percentage and skin yield. the supreme strain presented higher carcass, fillet and residue weights, being more expressive in body weights superior to 500 g and smaller limiting value for the percentage of viscera. it was concluded that the two strains have growth of body parts proportional to the increase of the body weight, and this increase does not modify the parts yield. the supreme strain showed more carcass and fillet yield than chitralada, and is should be indicated for production and commercialization of heavier fillet.
