Abstract: Introduction: Hospital Recreation (HR) aims to reduce disasters caused by hospital admission. Objectives: To expose the behavior of children in cancer treatment (CA) during HR, and to verify which recreational activities generate the most adherence. Methods: The research is an experimental clinical trial of a non-probabilistic and intentional sample, with a quantitative and qualitative approach. Participants were 43 children (both sexes), with CA, admitted to the Pediatric Hospital Oncology CenterPHOC. The mean age of the children in fact was 7.5 years, and the data of mean and standard deviation between parenthood confer with the data of the results found during the research. The study lasted 12 weeks, with 38 sessions lasting 3 hours. Using games of activity: cognitive, manipulative, perceptive, creative and cooperative. Inclusion criteria: 1) being hospitalized in the PHOC, of the city of Natal; 2) being released by the medical team to participate in the activities. Children who were on special care in the ICU were excluded from the study. The behavior of the children was evaluated by the observation matrix proposed by Urie Bonfenbrenner, approached by Krebs and Koller. At

Abstract: The treatment of breast cancer (BC) leaves emotional and functional sequels affecting the quality of life (QOL) of the survivors. We aim to investigate, intense exercises in the rehabilitation of BC survivors. Using the systematic search model in the PubMed databases; Lilacs Bireme and Scielo. Meta-Analysis used the Meta package implemented in software R (version 3.3.2) p < 0.05. We selected 29 articles, and after reading in the Integra, we excluded 27 texts being included in the meta-analysis only 2. In the QOL, the heterogeneity in the emotional function showed a difference of 75%, in the social function 36% and in the physics 32%. Using intense exercises in BC survivors during rehabilitation improves overall QOL, muscle structure, and preserves functional capacity.

Silva, Luciano Fernandes;Inforsato, Edson do Carmo;
Ciência & Educa??o (Bauru) , 2000, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-73132000000200007
Abstract: this paper points out some criticism done to the modern scientific knowledge within the environmental movement, specially emphasizing the cartesian philosophic ideas. we consider the educational process as a fundamental stage to diminish or even to revert the scenery of environmental degradations. some limits of such criticism are analyzed, namely, the historical-social non-contextual shaping of such ideas. finally, we focus the inadequacy that causes the repetition of such criticism to the modern science for the educational process.
Assistência de enfermagem perioperatória: ensino em cursos de enfermagem
Avelar, Maria do Carmo Querido;Silva, Arlete;
Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da USP , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0080-62342005000100006
Abstract: in the present study, the authors describe the reality of the perioperatory nursing assistance, analyzing and outlining its trends among professors of undergraduate courses in nursing that teach this subject. perioperatory nursing assistance, as a process carried out by nursing professionals, in a specific phase of attention to the patient prior to the anesthetic-surgical procedure, involves strategies and orientations that are expressed in the nurse's praxis. in this study, the teaching of perioperatory nursing assistance, as a dynamic activity of the actions of the professors of nursing in the surgical center, developed in a collective process, emerges as a ritual praxis of the system's realm, of the instrumental technical reason, moving away from the consensual understanding, from the communicative reason and from the encouragement to the alternatives directed towards the social/emancipatory praxis.

Health (Health) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/health.2014.611146
Abstract: This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of dyslipidemias and related factors, in Brazilian adolescents from rural and urban areas. This is a cross-sectional study with 182 adolescents aged 10 to 13 years, students, residing in the rural and urban area of Brazil; grouped according to age, gender and socioeconomic class. Sexual maturation, physical activity, blood pressure, nutritional status and body composition were evaluated. Total cholesterol, LDL, HDL and serum triglycerides were dosed. The food frequency questionnaire was applied, quantifying energy, carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, full fat and fibers. Bivariate and multiple analyses were carried out, by logistic regression. It was verified that 84.6% (n = 154) adolescents presented some lipid profile alteration. There was no difference in the lipid profile between adolescents for residence place. However, as for gender, it was noticed that girls presented higher levels of total cholesterol and HDL (p < 0.05). In addition, adolescents with excess weight and body fat showed lower HDL and higher triglycerides values compared with eutrophic and with those with appropriate body fat percentage (p < 0.05). In the multiple analyses, it was observed that gender and signs of sexual maturation were associated with total cholesterol; fiber intake remained associated with HDL and signs of sexual maturation with LDL (p < 0.05). For triglycerides the related factors were gender, nutritional status and protein intake (p < 0.05). The elevated prevalence of dyslipidemias found between adolescents from rural and urban areas reinforces the importance of monitoring these alterations and information as for the related risk factors, with programs for correction of changeable factors.

Revista Educa??o Especial , 2010,
Síndrome de Down.

This study searched to understand how the appropriation of knowledge through verbal interactions by triads of children with and without regard for friendship when they participate jointly in Mathematical tasks occurs. 24 students from the 3rd grade of elementary school, grouped into four triads with regard for friendship (TCRA) and four triads without regard for friendship (TSRA) participated. The selection to group them in triads occurred through interview searching to know the emotional bond. The interactions were recorded with video camera and recorder, transcribed and analyzed according to a microgenetic method. According to the results the TCRA showed a more intense verbal interaction, causing a greater appropriation of knowledge among the participants than in TSRA. This way, it could be observed that a cooperative context caused greater possibilities in the use of a common language, facilitating understanding as well as negotiation in case of disagreement among the participants.
Determination of Gaseous Analytes in Flow Systems: A Review
Pasquini, Celio;Silva, Maria do Carmo Hespanhol da;
Journal of the Brazilian Chemical Society , 1999, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-50531999000200002
Abstract: efforts to develop flow systems for the determination of gaseous analytes in gaseous samples are critically reviewed. although flow systems present a suitable alternative to management and processing of gaseous samples, relatively few papers dealing with this subject are found in the literature. the increased demand for determination of gaseous analytes, the advent of automated systems based on microcomputers and new devices, such as miniature solenoid valves, which facilitate manipulation of gaseous samples, and the easy access to gaseous standards has, along, driven some recent progress towards the use of flow systems. flow systems constitute a versatile option capable to be applied to a wide concentration range, rapid, easy to operate with relatively low sample volume, becoming a low cost approach for determination of gaseous analytes.
Síndrome dos ovários policísticos, síndrome metabólica, risco cardiovascular e o papel dos agentes sensibilizadores da insulina
Silva, Regina do Carmo;Pardini, Dolores P.;Kater, Claudio E.;
Arquivos Brasileiros de Endocrinologia & Metabologia , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0004-27302006000200014
Abstract: the polycystic ovary syndrome (pcos) affects 6 to 10% of women of childbearing age. insulin resistance and hyperinsulinemia are present in nearly all pcos patients and play a central role in the development of both hyperandrogenism and metabolic syndrome (ms). ms occurs in approximately 43% of pcos patients, raising the cardiovascular risk to up seven fold in these patients. several serum, functional and structural markers of endothelial dysfunction and subclinical atherosclerosis were described in pcos patients, even those young and non-obese. however, despite the fact that pcos adversely affects the cardiovascular profile, long-term studies did not demonstrate a consistent raise in cardiovascular mortality, which seems to be more observed in the post-menopausal period. recently, oral contraceptives are being substituted for insulin sensitizing agents (metformin and glitazones) in the pcos treatment, due to their effects on insulin resistance and cardiovascular risk.
