Synthesis and Influence of Two Quinoxalinone Derivatives on Anxiety- and Depressive-Like Responses in Wistar Rat  [PDF]

Abstract: Two new quinoxalinone derivatives have been synthesized adopting the HONG method, and investigated for some neuropharmacological effects (anxiety- and depressive-like responses) in rats. The present experiment sought to determine whether treatment with these compounds produces changes in affective responses. We found that the chronic injection of 6-nitro-2(1H)-quinoxalinone (NQu) showed obvious anxiolytic- and antidepressant-like effects, respectively, measured in the behavioral tests of Elevated Plus Maze (EPM) and Forced Swim Test (FST). At the dose of 30 mg/kg, NQu showed a comparative anxiolytic-like effect in rats as diazepam (Dz) (1 mg/kg), and a comparative antidepressant effect as clomipramine (Clmp) (2 mg/kg; i.p). The 2(1H)-quinoxalinone (Qu) significantly reduced depressive-like responses as evaluated in FST, whereas no anxiolytic-like effect was found as measured by open field test (OF). Additionally, the locomotor activity levels were unaffected by treatment as measured by OF and EPM.

Abstract: In the title benzimidazolone, C27H38N2O11, which has N-bound glycosidic units, all five-membered O-heterocyclic rings adopt envelope conformations [for the outer rings, the C atom with the dimethyl groups represents the flap atom]. The two glycosidic units are related by a non-crystallographic twofold rotation axis that passes through the carbonyl portion. In the molecular structure, the hydroxy groups are hydrogen-bond donors to the carbonyl O atom. Weak intermolecular C—H...O hydrogen bonding is present in the crystal structure.

Abstract: Mediterranean large lakes play an important role in providing a range of ecosystem functions and supporting biodiversity. The conservation and management of these lakes require more detailed knowledge of their ecology and environment-vegetation relationships. Chotts are probably the most poorly understood lake ecosystems. Chott Zehrez (Djelfa) as a large, shallow lake ecosystem in Algerian steppes, where wetlands are important part of their productivity. Despite the status of chott Zehrez lake as a Ramsar site, the main threat to its conservation is the private nature of surrounding land holdings in addition to the lack of knowledge and awareness by the local population of the importance of lake ecosystems. A wealth of halophytic flora exists which can be exploited for an array of uses like fodder, fuel wood, oilseed, medicines, landscaping, and environment conservation through carbon sequestration. A total 112 species belonging to 26 families and 39 genera were recorded. The sabkha flora includes 9 endangered and endemic species such as Avena bromoides, Cutandia divaricata, Herniaria mauritanica and Salicornia arabica. In this paper we mainly discussed characteristics and importance of Chott Zehrez lake ecosystem, its vegetation potentialities and economic usages will be also presented and discussed. Finally conservation strategy and restoration of this ecosystem are suggested.
A Novel 4WD Electric Vehicle Control Strategy Based on Direct Torque Control Space Vector Modulation Technique  [PDF]

Abstract: Four-Wheels-Drive (4WD) electric Vehicle (EV) controlled with Direct Torque Control based Space Vector Modulation (DTC-SVM) is presented, where the electrical traction chain was well analyzed and studied from the lithium battery, the buck boost to the mechanical load behavior. The speed of four wheels is calculated independently during the turning with the electronic differential system computations which distributes torque and power to each in-wheel motor according to the requirements, adapts the speed of each motor to the driving conditions. The basic idea of this work is to maintain the initial battery state of charge (SOC) equal to 70% and the prototype was tested in several topology conditions and under speed. The simulations carried in Matlab/Simulink verified the efficiency of the proposed DTC-SVM controller, and show that the system has more favorable dynamic performance. Results also indicate that this strategy can be successfully implemented into the traction drive of the modern 4WD electric vehicles.

Abstract: A novel speed control design of 4WD electric vehicle (EV) to improve the comportment and stability under different road constraints condition is presented in this paper. The control circuit using intelligent adaptive fuzzy PI controller is proposed. Parameters which guide the functioning of PI controller are dynamically adjusted with the assistance of fuzzy control. The 4WD is powered by four motors of 15 kilowatts each one, delivering a 384 N.m total torque. Its high torque (338 N.m) is instantly available to ensure responsive acceleration performance in built-up areas. The electric drive canister of tow directing wheels and tow rear propulsion wheels equipped with tow induction motors thanks to their light weight simplicity and their height performance. Acceleration and steering are ensure by electronic differential, the latter control separately deriving wheels to turn at any curve. Electric vehicle are submitted different constraint of road using direct torque control. Electric vehicle are simulated in MATLAB SIMULINK. The simulation results have proved that the intelligent fuzzy PI control method decreases the transient oscillations and assure efficiency comportment in all topologies road constraints, straight, curved road, descent.

Abstract: Crew pairing is a sequence of flights beginning and ending at the same crewbase. Crew pairing planning is one of the primary processes in airline crew scheduling; it is also the primary cost-determining phase in airline crew scheduling. Optimizing crew pairings in an airline timetable helps minimize operational crew costs and maximize crew utilization. There are numerous restrictions that must be considered and just as many regulations that must be satisfied in crew pairing generation. The most important regulations—and the ones that make crew pairing planning a highly constrained optimization problem—are the the limits of the flight and the duty periods. Keeping these restrictions and regulations in mind, the main goal of the optimization is the generation of low cost sets of valid crew pairings which cover all flights in the airline’s timetable. For this research study, We examined studies about crew pairing optimization and used these previously existing methods of crew pairing to develop a new solution of the crew pairing problem using genetic algorithms. As part of the study we created a new genetic operator—called perturbation operator.Unlike traditional genetic algorithm implementations, this new perturbation operator provides much more stable results, an obvious increase in the convergence rate, and takes into account the existence of multiple crewbases.
Small-Angle X-Ray Scattering of Amorphous Germanium: Numerical Modeling  [PDF]

The present work deals with a detailed analysis of the small-angle X-ray scattering of nanoporous atomistic models for amorphous germanium. Structures with spherical nanovoids, others with arbitrarily oriented ellipsoidal ones, with monodisperse and polydisperse size distributions, were first generated. After relaxing the as-generated structure, we compute its radial distribution function, and then we deduce by the Fourier transform technique its X-ray scattering pattern. Using a smoothing procedure, the computed small-angle X-ray scattering patterns are corrected for the termination errors due to the finite size of the model, allowing so, for the first time at our best knowledge, a rigorous quantitative analysis of this scattering. The Guinier’s law is found to be valid irrespective of size and shape of the nanovoids over a scattering vector-range extending beyond the expected limit. A weighted combination of the Guinier’s forms accounts for well the nanovoid size distribution in the amorphous structure. The invariance of the Q-factor and its relationship to the void volume fraction are also confirmed. Our findings support then the quantitative analyses of available small-angle X-ray scattering data for amorphous germanium.

Highly Efficient Extraction of Cadmium(II) in Nitrate Medium by Quarternary Ammoniums  [PDF]

Abstract: The solvent extraction of cadmium(II) from nitrate medium was studied. The using extractants were quaternary ammonium-based room temperature ionic liquid Aliquat 336 in either the chloride [(C8H17)3 CH3N+·Cl-], thiocyanate [(C8H17)3CH3N+·SCN-] and hydrogenophosphate \"\" forms, diluted in the kerosene. The effects of different parameters such as equilibration time, initial pH, O/A molar ratio (nextractant/nCd), initial extractant concentration and ionic strong on extraction of cadmium(II) were investigated. The extraction yields of cadmium(II) increase with increasing initial pH and initial extractant concentration. The stoichiometry of the extracted species was determined on the basis of slope analysis. The effect of various salts such as KSCN and NaNO3 in the feed solution within the concentrations of 10 to 100 mM on extraction of cadmium(II) was studied at optimal initial pH = 6.2. The relation between the percentages of the extracted species (\"\") and the extraction yields were investigated by a calculation program using CHEAQS V. L20.1. The results showed that the decrease of the extraction yield of Cd(II) was related with the decrease gradually of percentage of cadmium(II) free and the increase of percentage of\"\" and \"\" species with the addition of KSCN. More the hydrophobic character of the extractant is high, more the extraction is better. The metal ion was stripped out satisfactorily using nitric acid as stripping agent, in one step.
