De la lentitud
Rodríguez, Blanca Alberta;
Tópicos del seminario , 2011,
Abstract: in this essay, from an etymological and lexicographical review, the author creates a very particular concept of the term slowness, since she explores other more encompassing senses than the common sense that it refers to movement or action. she conceives it then as a semantic nucleus that intertwines different forms of the ethical being. it stops in several poetic manifestations in which slowness is expressed as the foundation of an ethic, invariably blended with esthetics, in and for life; in sum, as a way of life.

Social representations on aging: Structural differences concerning age group and cultural context
Wachelke,Joao; Contarello,Alberta;
Revista Latinoamericana de Psicología , 2010,
Abstract: mainly due to the salience of the world population aging phenomenon, aging and old age are consistently gaining relevance in social life and pointing out to the importance of characterizing the social representations about the topic. after identifying the need of systematic structural research at the level of structural status and basic cognitive scheme activation related to the social representations on aging, two controlled survey studies were conducted to assess the roles of age group and cultural context to differentiate representational structures. gender was also taken into account. study 1 had a sample of 80 italian participants balanced by gender and age group (young and mature). study 2 had a similar design, comparing the results from the young italian sample to a group of 40 young brazilians. instruments were questionnaires with standard basic cognitive schemes tasks and centrality questionnaires. log-linear analysis and one-way chi-square tests were employed for data analysis. results indicated that both, in terms of structural status and scheme activation, the age group and cultural context variables are associated to representational differences, while the role of gender was restricted to peripheral modulations. the study sets foundations for further basic and applied research by providing a baseline structural characterization.
Um movimento católico na política: O caso do Comunh o e Liberta o A Catholic Movement in Politics: The Case of Communion and Liberation Un mouvement catholique dans la politique : le cas du mouvement Communion et Libération

Communion and Liberation (CL) is widely known in Italy as a very important Catholic movement whose political power has significantly increased in the last fifteen years. It has a strong identity, which combines both traditionalism and modernity, and has managed to expand both its adherents and its presence in the social, economic, and political realms. It is thus an example of a successful religious movement in the contemporary political landscape.This paper focuses on the relationships between CL and Italian politics in the Second Republic (from 1993 to the present), by analyzing CL’s representation of its political role and the political opportunity structure that enabled its success.
Blockade of P-selectin reduces neutrophil infiltration into the ischemia-reperfusion induced murine testis
Celebi M.,Alberta Paul
Acta Veterinaria , 2009, DOI: 10.2298/avb0906449c
Abstract: Germ cell apoptosis after ischemia-reperfusion (IR) of the testis is dependent on neutrophil recruitment to the testis. Intravascular adhesion molecules like the P- and E- selectins play an important role in this recruitment. The purpose of this study was to inhibit neutrophil recruitment to the IR- induced testis by using a function-blocking monoclonal anti-mouse P-selectin antibody. Adult mice were subjected to a 2 h period of testicular torsion (ischemia) followed by detorsion (reperfusion). Ten minutes after the onset of reperfusion mice received either the function-blocking monoclonal P-selectin antibody (FBMAB group) or the isotype-matched control antibody (IMCA group). Separate groups of mice underwent a sham operation (SO group) or received 500 ng of TNFα (IF group) to induce inflammation. Mice were sacrificed 24 hr after reperfusion and testiscular interstitial cells were isolated and analyzed for the presence of neutrophils by means of flow cytometry. The function-blocking monoclonal P-selectin antibody reduced neutrophil recruitment to the IR-induced testis significantly. Therefore, blocking P-selectin may be therapeutically beneficial to protect postischemic testis.

Social representations on aging: Structural differences concerning age group and cultural context
Joao Wachelke,Alberta Contarello
