Soares, José Monteiro;Azevedo, Pedro Vieira De;Silva, Bernado Barbosa Da;
Revista Brasileira de Meteorologia , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-77862007000200008
Abstract: this study was conducted at the bebedouro experimental station in petrolina-pe, brazil, to evaluate the errors associated to the application of the bowen ratio-energy balance in a 3-years old vineyard (vitis vinifera, l), grown in a trellis system, irrigated by dripping. the field measurements were taken during fruiting cycle (july to november, 2001), which was divided into eigth phenological stages. a micrometeorological tower was mounted in a grape-plants row in which sensors of net radiation, global solar radiation and wind speed were installed at about 1.0 m above the canopy. also in the tower, two psicometers were installed at two levels (0.5 and 1.8 m) above the vineyard canopy. two soil heat flux plates were buried at 0.02 m beneath the soil surface. all these sensors were connected to a data logger 21 x of campbell scientific inc., programmed for collecting data once every 5 seconds and storage averages for every 15 minutes. a comparative analysis were made among four bowen ratio accepting/rejecting rules, according to the methodology proposed by spano et al. (2000): br1 - values of b calculated by bowen (1926) equation; br2 - values of b as proposed by verma et al. (1978) equation; br3 - exclusion of the b values obtained as recommended by unland et al. (1996) and br4 - exclusion of the b values calculated as proposed by bowen (1926), out of the interval (-0.7 < b < 0.7). constacted that the unland et al. (1996) and soares (2003) accepting/rejection rules were better than that of verma et al. (1978) for attenuating the advective effects on the calculations of the bowen ratio. the comparison of br1 with br2 rules showed that the statistical errors reaching maximum values of 0.015. when comparing br1 with br3 e br4, the b errors reaching maximum values of 5.80 and 3.15, respectively.

Abstract: the germination behavior of seeds of different species varies on function of the temperature and luminosity, which can provide information of biological and ecological interest, and technology of seeds, because very little is known with respect to the requirements of seeds of tropical species as the various factors involved in germination. therefore, the work was carried out with the objective of evaluating the effect of different temperatures and light conditions on germination and vigor of crataeva tapia l. seed. in the laboratory of seed analysis, in the centro de ciências agrárias, universidade federal da paraíba, located in areia city - pb, were evaluated the influence of temperatures of 25 °c; 30 °c and 35 °c constant and 20-30 °c alternated under white light (without cellophane paper), green (with green cellophane paper), red (with red cellophane paper), far-red (with two sheets red cellophane paper interspersed for two sheets blue) and darkness (with black plastic), adopting a design entirely randomized with treatments distributed on factorial 4 x 5 (temperatures and light regimes), in four replications of 25 seeds each. characteristics analyzed: germination percentage, germination first count and germination speed index, as well as the length and dry mass of seedlings. the seeds germinated in all light regimes, being recommended that on temperature of 20-30 °c alternate, and on temperature of 30°c. seeds of species studied are not sensitive to different light regimes applied under different temperatures.
Civil-Military Relations in the Transition to Democracy: The Case of Mozambique
Joao Bernado Honwana
Africa Development , 1999,
Abstract: In the last few years Southern Africa has been forced to grapple with and redefine security priorities in a complex post-war period. Issues like demilitarisation, resettlement and restructuring of the armed forces in a way that contained erstwhile warring groups have become more strident than ever in the region. The paper focuses on the restructuring of the Mozambican armed services, which is taking place in the context of profound political transformation both at the domestic and regional levels. Its argument evolves around two main considerations: 1) that emerging democracies in Africa should espouse a concept of national security that adequately responds to the concerns of the citizens as much as those of the state, domestically, and promotes a common approach regionally; and 2) that in this context, the armed services should be oriented in such a way that, they do not threaten the new democratic political order but contribute positively to the consolidation of peace and national reconciliation, Africa Development 1999, Vol. XXIV, Nos 3 & 4, 135-176

Radio Spectral Index Analysis and Classes of Ejection in LS I +61 303
Massi,Kaufman-Bernado
Physics , 2009, DOI: 10.1088/0004-637X/702/2/1179
Abstract: LS I +61303 is a gamma-ray binary with periodic radio outbursts coincident with the orbital period of P=26.5 d. The origin of the radio emission is unclear,it could be due either to a jet, as in microquasars, or to the shock boundary between the Be star and a possible pulsar wind. We here analyze the radio spectral index over 6.7 yr from Green Bank Interferometer data at 2.2 GHz and 8.3 GHz. We find two new characteristics in the radio emission. The first characteristic is that the periodic outbursts indeed consist of two consecutive outbursts; the first outburst is optically thick, whereas the second outburst is optically thin. The spectrum of LS I +61 303 is well reproduced by the shock-in-jet model commonly used in the context of microquasars and AGNs: the optically thin spectrum is due to shocks caused by relativistic plasma ("transient jet") traveling through a pre-existing much slower steady flow ("steady jet"). This steady flow is responsible for the preceding optically thick spectrum. The second characteristic we find is that the observed spectral evolution, from optically thick to optically thin emission, occurs twice during the orbital period. We observed this occurrence at the orbital phase of the main 26.5 d outburst and also at an earlier phase, shifted by $\Delta \Phi \sim$ 0.3 (i.e almost 8 days before). We show that this result qualitatively and quantitatively agrees with the two-peak accretion/ejection model proposed in the past for LS I +61303. We conclude that the radio emission in LS I +61303 originates from a jet and suggest that the variable TeV emission comes from the usual Compton losses expected as an important by-product in the shock-in-jet theory.
An Introduction to Gerbes on Orbifolds

Abstract: This paper is a gentle introduction to some recent results involving the theory of gerbes over orbifolds for topologists, geometers and physicists. We introduce gerbes on manifolds, orbifolds, the Dixmier-Douady class, Beilinson-Deligne orbifold cohomology, Cheeger-Simons orbifold cohomology and string connections.
Anorexia mental como resistência à onipotência materna
Barbosa, Denise da Silva;
ágora: Estudos em Teoria Psicanalítica , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-14982010000200006
Abstract: the text discusses the complex relationship of the subject with the mother's desire in the scope of the phenomenon of mental anorexia. it highlights the established relationship between the pulsional satisfaction from the feeding activity and the mental functioning in the production of symptoms related to the eating disorder. it focuses on the fundamental aspect of the singularity characteristic of the interference of the component mother/daughter on the appearance of the anorexic symptoms, that is, the mental anorexia as a resistant element to the maternal omnipotence.
