Mycoflora and aflatoxin/fumonisin production by fungal isolates from freshly harvested corn hybrids
Almeida Adriana P.,Corrêa Benedito,Mallozzi Marisa A. B.,Sawazaki Eduardo
Brazilian Journal of Microbiology , 2000,
Abstract: The mycoflora of 3 hybrids of freshly harvested corn grains collected from three regions of the state of S o Paulo, Brazil (Assis, Cap o Bonito and Ribeir o Preto) was investigated. A total of 66 samples were analyzed focusing on the influence of abiotic factors (moisture content, water activity, temperature and rainfall) on both the prevalence of Aspergillus flavus and Fusarium moniliforme, and the ability of these genera isolates to produce aflatoxins and fumonisins, respectively. In the three surveyed regions, the fungal population comprised mainly Fusarium spp., Penicillium spp., Aspergillus spp. and 2 others filamentous fungal genera, which were isolated from corn kernels showing water activity of 0.30 to 0.99 and moisture content of 5.0% to 20.2%. Among the genera Fusarium and Aspergillus, the most frequent species were F. moniliforme and A. flavus, respectively. Concerning the toxigenic potential of F. moniliforme, all isolated strains (40) produced fumonisins at 20 mug/g to 2168 mug/g (FB1) and/or 10 mug/g to 380 mug/g (FB2). From the 10 A. flavus isolates, 6 strains (60.0%) produced aflatoxins at 615 mug/kg to 30.750 mug/kg (AFB1) and/or 11 mug/kg to 22 mug/kg (AFB2).

Cultural Models of Bodily Images of Women Teachers
Christine A. Mallozzi
Societies , 2012, DOI: 10.3390/soc2040252
Abstract: Cultural models are simplified images and storylines that encapsulated what is regarded as typical for a social group. Cultural models of teachers include body images of dress, adornment, and comportment, and are useful in examining society’s standards and values. Two participants, Erin and Gabbie (pseudonyms), shared stories about their tattoos, which in the U.S. have historically been seen as a mode of resistance. These tattoos that reflected the teachers’ personal lives were regarded in light of the cultural model of the U.S. teacher, a typically conservatively dressed and coiffed female. According to discourse analysis of the participants’ stories, each teacher’s students did not interpret these tattoos in the same ways. Erin’s students were surprised at the tattoo and interpreted it as a sign she no longer fit the typical teacher mold. Gabbie’s students were not surprised at the tattoo but noted it as confirmatory evidence that she fit the needs of the alternative, nonmainstream school context where the cultural model would be ill suited. This analysis makes a case for more complex interpretations of teachers’ bodies that do not fit the mainstream cultural models of teachers.
Partial Cooperation and Non-Signatories Multiple Decision
Lina Mallozzi,Stef Tijs
AUCO Czech Economic Review , 2008,
Abstract: In this paper we investigate partial cooperation between a portion of the players and the rest of the players who do not cooperate and play a Nash game having multiple equilibria. Some properties of the partial cooperative equilibrium are studied and applied to a public goods situation.
Stackelberg Assumption vs. Nash Assumption in Partially Cooperative Games
Lina Mallozzi,Stef Tijs
AUCO Czech Economic Review , 2012,
Abstract: We deal with n-person normal form games where a subset of players decide to cooperate (signatories) and choose strategies by maximizing the aggregate welfare of the coalition members as in International Environmental Agreements (IEA) context. The non-cooperating (non-signatories) players choose their strategies as a Nash equilibrium. In this paper the partial cooperative equilibrium (PCE) under the Nash-Cournot and the Stackelberg assumptions are considered and presented also in the case of non-signatories multiple decision. Some properties are discussed in both situations, particularly the profit of the players are compared.
The Accounting Analysis of Banking Company: The Case of CAM  [PDF]
Miguel Angel Perez Benedito
Modern Economy (ME) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/me.2015.62015
Abstract: The measure of management risk has been a constant in Economy in the recent past. This issue is present on any kind of economic or financial activity. The solution adopted for international authorities, increasing liquidity of financial market and generating new indicators to support making decisions, means the continuity of applying the monetary theory as general criteria to solve the actual crisis. In this labyrinth, the manuscript uses the Accounting Methodology of Edgeworth’s Box as a new methodology to measure the management of Banking Companies and analyzes the acquisition of the CAM and Bank Sabadell, two Spanish banking companies. Finally, the manuscript analyzes the financial crisis in Spain through the behavior of listed banking companies in IBEX 35. The manuscript concludes that accounting can explain equilibrium in economy, and it only needs to know how they can be measured properly.
Accounting Analysis of Economic Policy of Spain (2012)  [PDF]
Miguel Angel Pérez Benedito
Theoretical Economics Letters (TEL) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/tel.2014.43035
Abstract: The analysis of economic policy is made through a new methodology using the information provided by businesses to the Bank of Spain. The financial statements are the result of economic and financial transactions in a year and show a behavior that is likely to be measured by applying the Edgeworth’s box for analysis. This means that it is possible to measure the response of firms against market disruptions through an accounting interpretation of the information contained in the financial statements. The indicators obtained through this methodology measure a position taken in the Edgeworth’s box. Consequently, the observations obtained are random and therefore may explain the evolution of the economy of any country.

Barraviera, Benedito;
Revista da Sociedade Brasileira de Medicina Tropical , 1997, DOI: 10.1590/S0037-86821997000500014
Abstract: the author suggests a long-distance teaching on toxinology using the following media: convencional printed book, scientific electronic journal, video library and the internet. these new media are discussed as new alternatives for long-distance learning without the teacher.
Gêneros digitais: Apresentando livros na Internet
Bezerra,Benedito;
Revista signos , 2010, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-09342010000300004
Abstract: this paper explores, from a socio-rhetorical perspective, the introductory text genres found in the introduction of digital academic books, considering both their transmutation from the printed to a virtual medium and the subsequent changes in the meaning they take on in this new medium. the purposes of this research was twofold: to map on the websites of several publishing houses the occurrence of genres, such as forewords and book blurbs linked to academic books, and to analyze the peculiar aspects they assume in the new rhetorical context. fifty instances of such genres in books on linguistics were selected, and they were analyzed following swales's (1990) socio-rhetorical model. findings show a high frequency of the book blurb, among others, and a considerable number of changes when web-mediated. multimodality is one of the most distinctive features they acquire in the new media. the role of the media in the occurrence of mixed communicative purposes, combining academic and promotional interests, is also prominent.
Entrevista - Paradigmas da extens o universitária
