Correlation between Hardness, Structure and Electrochemical Performance of an AlZnMnMg Alloy  [PDF]
S. Valdez, B. Campillo, J. J. Islas
Engineering (ENG) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/eng.2012.49075
Abstract: In this work the structural changes induced by aged treatment have shown a connection with differences of hardness and electrochemical performance. Al-base alloys have been investigated by means of Vickers hardness, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron and short-term electrochemical test. X-ray diffraction result reveals the formation of (MgZn)49Al32 phase for two conditions, the first one is when the magnesium content is upper to 5.49% in as-cast condition and the second one after the thermal treatment carried out at 450?C for 5 h. In addition, the hardness and electrochemical performance has been influenced by the presence and quantity of the (MgZn)49Al32 phase. The addition of magnesium alloying modifies the microstructure, increases the content of (MgZn)49Al32 phase and provides a localized corrosion which conduced to the breakdown of the oxide film (?-Al2O3) formed on the Al alloy surface.
Fernández-Rodríguez,A.; Morentin Campillo,B.;
Cuadernos de Medicina Forense , 2004, DOI: 10.4321/S1135-76062004000300003
Abstract: one of the main duties of medical-legal institutions is to collaborate with authorities to recognise and prevent risks to public health. one such risk is meningoceal infection, wich can progress rapidly and fataly, causing sudden death. in such cases, it is urgent to identify "neisseria meningitidis" urgently in order to assure the appropiate treatment of people who have come into contact. this agent is a leading cause of bacterial meningitis and septicemia in children and young adults. due to the rapid development of such infections, ante-mortem cultures sometimes are not taken, making the forensic diagnosis essential. although post-mortem findings are often typical of the waterhouse-friderichsen syndrome, they may sometimes be overlooked or caused by other organisms. for these reasons, a microbiological forensic diagnosis is crucial. this article presents a forensic procedure to diagnose the etiology of fulminant bacterial meningitis or septic shock. the aseptic sampling should include blood, sera, lcr, pleural effusions, urine and fresh tissues. these samples can be submitted to the instituto nacional de toxicología y ciencias forenses for their early analyses. antigenic tests are performed as screening techniques, and real-time pcr assays are also done to detect meningococcus and identify its serogroup. the results of these analyses are reported in 3 hours. bacterial cultures are also performed. additional pcr may be performed to diagnose other fragile bacteria that are difficult to recover post-mortem. the collaboration within all legal institutions and between those and health authorities is essential to best deal with this issue.

Protocolo de actuación forense ante la sospecha de meningitis bacteriana y shock séptico fulminante Protocol for the forensic action with regard to the suspicion of bacterial meningitis and fulminant septicemia

Observation of Weak Localization of Seismic Waves
E. Larose,L. Margerin,B. A. van Tiggelen,M. Campillo
Physics , 2004,
Abstract: We report the observation of weak localization of seismic waves in a natural environment. It emerges as a doubling of the seismic energy around the source within a spot of width a wavelength, that is several tens of meters in our case. The characteristic time for its onset is the scattering mean free time, that quantifies the internal heterogeneity.
Abstract: The hand, essential organ of the human species, surely has suffered patological affections equal or smimilar to the present day ones, nevertheless, the paleopathologists have not verified them until very recent times, certainly due to the taphonomic processes. On the present study we furnish our experience and, check superficially, the cases published by other authors that we have been able to consult, including the punitive and ritual prectices that the human have been subjugated.

Campillo, Antonio
Isegoría , 2010,
Abstract: The concept of emancipation has been historically used to name a very wide range of forms of liberation, both individual and collective. As a consequence, from the period of Enlightment and the first revolutions and liberal constitutions, it became one of the fundamental concepts of modern political thought. In this article, I examine the theoretical assumptions and the historical forms of the modern concept of emancipation, but I also propose a revision of those assumptions and forms that takes into account the historical changes of the second half of the 20th century as well as the appareance of new emancipatory social movements.
The Spanish Civil War in Catalan narrative
Maria Campillo
Catalan Historical Review , 2011,
Abstract: The first part of this article presents the literary output on the subject of the Spanish Civil War written during the war and immediately after it, between 1936 and 1939. What stand out from this time are brief, non-fictional narrative forms which were often meant for the press, such as chronicles from both the battlefront (where Pere Calders excels) and the home front. Among the fictional genres, short stories prevailed during the war, while the novel, a genre which requires the slow assimilation of experience, found its maximum expression in the post-war period in two canonical works by Joan Sales and Mercè Rodoreda, which shall be analysed in the second part of this article.
