Quantum Weak Energy Inequalities for the Dirac field in Flat Spacetime
C. J. Fewster,B. Mistry
Physics , 2003, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevD.68.105010
Abstract: Quantum Weak Energy Inequalities (QWEIs) have been established for a variety of quantum field theories in both flat and curved spacetimes. Dirac fields are known (by a result of Fewster and Verch) to satisfy QWEIs under very general circumstances. However this result does not provide an explicit formula for the QWEI bound, so its magnitude has not previously been determined. In this paper we present a new and explicit QWEI bound for Dirac fields of arbitrary mass in four-dimensional Minkowski space. We follow the methods employed by Fewster and Eveson for the scalar field, modified to take account of anticommutation relations. A key ingredient is an identity for Fourier transforms established by Fewster and Verch. We also compare our QWEI with those previously obtained for scalar and spin-1 fields.
Sinding-Larsen-Johansson syndrome
M Kuehnast, N Mahomed, B Mistry
South African Journal of Child Health , 2012,
Abstract: A spectrum of entities is involved in injury to the inferior aspect of the patella and the proximal patella tendon, including Sinding-Larsen- Johansson syndrome, patellar sleeve avulsion and jumper’s knee. The patellar tendon is usually only a few centimetres long, arising from the inferior patella and inserting distally into the tibial tuberosity. Sinding-Larsen-Johansson syndrome is an osteochondrosis of the inferior pole of the patella and is often bilateral. It is not osteonecrosis, epiphysitis or osteochondritis as previously described in the literature. Sinding- Larsen-Johansson is commonly seen in active adolescents aged between 10 and 14 years, as described in our patient. Our case highlights the importance of an adequate history, clinical examination combined with correct imaging in accurate, early diagnosis of Sinding-Larsen- Johansson syndrome, a rare but important course of patellofemoral pain.

South African Journal of Surgery , 2009,
Abstract: Objectives. To evaluate peripheral arterial occlusive disease in HIV-infected patients regarding clinical presentation and outcome of surgical intervention. Design. Prospective clinical survey. Patients and methods. Routine voluntary testing for HIV/AIDS was performed in all patients presenting to our vascular unit. HIV+ patients were enrolled in a registry and followed up prospectively. Results. We identified 154 HIV+ patients, of whom 91 (59%) presented with occlusive disease. There were 71 males and 20 females with a mean age of 44.2 years. The usual risk factors for atherosclerosis were present, but the incidence was less than reported in the classic atherosclerosis population. More than 90% of the patients presented with advanced stage vascular disease (Fontaine III/IV), which explains the high rate (31.9%) of primary amputation. Eightyseven patients presented with lower-limb ischaemia, 2 patients with upper-limb ischaemia and 2 patients with symptomatic carotid artery stenosis. Seventy-eight procedures were performed on 72 patients, with a perioperative mortality of 6.95%. The limb salvage rate for femoro-popliteal bypass procedures was poor (36.1%), resulting in a high incidence of secondary amputations and prolonged hospital stay. Longterm mortality for the operated patients was 20% over a mean follow-up period of 15.4 months. Hypo-albuminaemia was found to be an important predictor of outcome. Conclusion. Patients presenting with HIV-associated peripheral arterial disease should be carefully selected for intervention, taking into consideration nutritional and immune status, stage of the vascular disease and selecting the appropriate procedure.

Indian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences , 2010,
Abstract: Rapid and efficient methods for the synthesis of an important intermediate of benazepril ethyl 3-phthalimido-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-[1]benzazepin-2-one-1-acetate under the influence of microwave irradiation are described. A comparative study of conventional and microwave assisted method is briefly discussed.

Evaluation of Alternaria alternata (Fr.) Keissler for biological control of Trianthema portulacastrum L.
Indian Phytopathology , 2012,
Abstract: Trianthema portulacastrum is an obnoxious annual weed, which causes substantial yield reduction on account of competition in several cultivated crops. A foliar pathogen Alternaria alternata was evaluated as a potential biological control agent for effective management of T. portulacastrum with an aim to find the most virulent strain and to evaluate and standardize its application method. The pathogenicity of A. alternata increased with increasing inoculum density, and spore concentration of 107 & 108 spores ml- 1 caused 100 per cent mortality of 10 to 30 days old T. portulacastrum that were raised from the seeds, and also of the naturally grown plants having length of 2-25 cm and 6-182 number of leaves.
Comparison of Digital Water Marking methods
Darshana Mistry
International Journal on Computer Science and Engineering , 2010,
Abstract: In Digital watermarking, image or video is embedded information data within an insensible form for human visual system but in a way that protects from attacks such as common image processing techniques. Spatial domain(Least significant bit(LSB)) and transform domain (Discrete Cosine Transform(DCT) and Discrete Wavelet Transform(DWT))methods are used. DWT is best method because of using embedded zero tree wavelet image compression scheme and high frequency sub bands.
