Dogal Afetler ve Cevre Dergisi , 2016, DOI: 10.21324/dacd.75393
Abstract: Frequency of showers and floods show an increasing trend in recent year in the world. Role of climate changing on frequency of natural hazardous depends on topographic structure, vegetation cover, land use- land surface classification and urbanization. This paper covers analyses of spatial and temporal variations of air temperature and precipitation at four selected stations (Bah?ek?y, Florya, G?ztepe and ?ile) in European and Asian parts of Istanbul. Mean air temperature variations show an increasing trend between 3% and 5% at G?ztepe and Florya. The extreme increasing ratio of monthly maximum air temperature values (6%) is observed at ?ile. Increasing trends of monthly total rainfall rates at Bah?ek?y and ?ile are 10% and 17% respectively. Role of urbanizations on temporal and spatial variations of daily, monthly averages and extremes of variables have been statistically evaluated in this paper.
The Influence of Personality Traits of High School Teachers on Their Teacher Qualifications
Sezai KALAFAT
Yüksek??retim ve Bilim Dergisi , 2012,
Abstract: Th e eff ects of the personality traits on the teacher qualifications of the teachers working of the high schools were analysed in this study. Th is study was a local survey research at 2010-2011 of the summer semester. Th e sample of the study consisted of 428 teachers. Personality test based on adjectives, and perceptions of compedence scale were used as data collection tools. “Path analysis” method was done for data analysis by structural equation modelling procedure. Analysis revealed that the openness for the experience, one of the personality traits, was found to be the most infl uential predictor of the teacher qualifications, also self-development, one of the teacher qualifications, was found to be most infl uenced dimension from the personality traits.
Locally conformally flat and self-dual structures on simple 4-manifolds

Mathematics , 2013,
Abstract: This is a survey article on the existence of locally conformally flat(LCF) and self-dual(SD) metrics on various basic 4-manifolds like simply-connected ones or product types
Deformations of Scalar-Flat Anti-Self-Dual metrics and Quotients of Enriques Surfaces
Mustafa Kalafat
Mathematics , 2006,
Abstract: In this article, we prove that a quotient of a K3 surface by a free Z_2+Z_2 action does not admit any metric of positive scalar curvature. This shows that the scalar flat anti self-dual metrics (SF-ASD) on this manifold can not be obtained from a family of metrics for which the scalar curvature changes sign, contrary to the previously known constructions of this kind of metrics on manifolds of b+=0.
Scalar Curvature and Connected Sums Of Self-Dual 4-Manifolds
Mustafa Kalafat
Mathematics , 2006,
Abstract: Under a vanishing hypothesis, Donaldson and Friedman proved that the connected sum of two self-dual Riemannian 4-Manifolds is again self-dual. Here we prove that the same result can be extended over to the positive scalar curvature case.
Geometric Invariant Theory and Einstein-Weyl Geometry
Mustafa Kalafat
Mathematics , 2006,
Abstract: In this article, we give a survey of Geometric Invariant Theory for Toric Varieties, and present an application to the Einstein-Weyl Geometry. We compute the image of the Minitwistor space of the Honda metrics as a categorical quotient according to the most efficient linearization. The result is the complex weighted projective space CP_(1,1,2). We also find and classify all possible quotients.
Emerging Threats to Forests: Resilience and Strategies at System Scale  [PDF]
Timothy O. Randhir, Ayten Erol
American Journal of Plant Sciences (AJPS) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ajps.2013.43A093
Abstract:

Forests provide multiple ecosystem services that are critical to sustain societies and ecosystems. Protecting the forest systems become imperative as human demand for forest products and services increase. In addition to current stressors, several emerging threats pose serious implications on the survival and sustainability of forest ecosystems. These include climatic change, invasive species, natural disasters, land use change, and pest/diseases that can severally impact the ability of forest to sustain ecosystem services. There is a need for using a systems-based framework to increase resilience of forest systems to cope with these threats. We review literature on these threats and propose a systems-framework for forest resilience. While strategies for each threat are often easier, comprehensive strategies that can handle multiple threats and specific to forest type is required. There is also a need for further research into forest resilience and landscape-scale response and resilience.

FOLK BELIEF IN TALIS / TALISLERDE HALK INAN LARI
Ya?ar KALAFAT
Turkish Studies , 2008,
Abstract: Tal slar is a folk that some part living in Azerbaijan isShiite-Caferite and the other part living in Iran is Sunni-Hanefite. Their mother tongue is mostly Persian but their“common folklore language” is Turkish. In text, it is being told of folklore of Tal slar under thetitles of birth, marriage, death, their social structure andcomparisons with other Turkish cultured folklore. There isinformation about Giving names, offering, soothsaying, kismet, father, home, craving foods, asure, tooth, hair, nail, first step andmourning.Even though there is difference in language and religion,as a result of living together for centuries ; a common culturegeography is created and this common cultural language is mostnecessary for the existence of folks. Trying to divide this legacyamong the folks is only gives benefit to Imperialist powers.
YA AYAN ESK TüRK NAN LARI T BAR YLE “TüRK M TOLOJ S ” VE PROF. DR. BAHAEDD N GEL / TURKISH MYTHOLOGY, CONSIDERING WITH THE CURRENTLY OLD TURKISH BELIEF AND PROF. DR. BAHAEDDIN GEL
Ya?ar KALAFAT
Journal of International Social Research , 2009,
Abstract: In this study, the short biography of Bahaaddin gel was introduced and then his methodical way of approach to the Turkish cultural history along with his deeds on the subject of mythology is mentioned. The methods and the research way that was initiated by him is being to connected with the currently devised works on the subjects.
A class of locally conformally flat 4-manifolds
Selman Akbulut,Mustafa Kalafat
Mathematics , 2008,
Abstract: We construct infinite families of non-simply connected locally conformally flat (LCF) 4-manifolds realizing rich topological types. These manifolds have strictly negative scalar curvature and the underlying topological 4-manifolds do not admit any Einstein metrics. Such 4-manifolds are of particular interest as examples of Bach-flat but non-Einstein spaces in the non-simply connected case. Besides that the underlying smooth manifolds are examples of spaces that admit open book decomposition in dimension 4.
