Abstract: Lipomas are common soft tissue tumors usually located under the skin. Nevertheless, intramuscular lipomas of deltoid muscle are unusual tumors. We present a case of 74 years old woman with an intramuscular like clepsydra lipoma of deltoid muscle. The lesion was a palpable soft mass at the lateral side of the humerus. The patient had no previous history of trauma. The main symptom was pain only in abduction and extension. Imaging, pathological findings and surgical excision are discussed.
On the Validity of Janak’s Theorem and Ground State Energies of Ensembles of Interacting Quantum N-Particle Systems  [PDF]
Antonios Gonis
World Journal of Condensed Matter Physics (WJCMP) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/wjcmp.2014.42012

It is established that for finite number of electrons, N < , and in the limit T = 0, the line of reasoning leading to the proof of Janak’s theorem is flawed, based on the incorrect treatment of a mixed state as a pure state. The derivative discontinuity at integral values of N of the total ground state energy, Ev[N], of an interacting N-particle system under an external single-particle potential, v(r), is shown to follow from general quantum principles governing the behavior of ensembles of systems with varying particle number, and its presence is shown to be independent of the particular approximation used in determining the total ground-state energy of an ensemble.

Grupo de atividades com crian?as: processo de humaniza??o
Terzis, Antonios;
Estudos de Psicologia (Campinas) , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-166X2005000300007
Abstract: the present study objective is the description of children group activities in order to provide a better comprehension about the psychotherapeutic performance in cases of adaptation difficulties. seven children (both genders), whose ages were from four to six years old, formed the group. the data analysis was qualitative. the activity groups have promoted children interaction, and the group has contributed to strength children's ego that is in development process. playing was a communication apparatus that has facilitated the establishment of a closer relationship among children, as it was a significant tool to express feelings, desires and fantasies.
Economic Returns and Risks to Investment in Education: An Application of the Multifactor CAPM
Antonios Athanassiadis
International Journal of Economic Sciences and Applied Research , 2011,
Abstract: Considering the investment in education as uncertain financial decision making we modify the short-cut method of calculating rates of return to education by incorporating the risk premium. Recognizing that market risk isn’t the only factor affecting returns, we estimate the returns to education in fifteen member - states of the European Union and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development during the period 2005 – 2007 as seen from a macroeconomic point of view using Multifactor CAPM.Following this model we assess, except market risk, the impact of three key macroeconomic variables (investments, productivity and unemployment) on returns and, using panel data regression techniques, we investigate whether this holds true with respect to investment in education. We also evaluate the risk – adjusted performance of investment in education and the role of returns as well as that of the key macroeconomic variables to economic development. The results tend to confirm the theoretical expectations and empirical literature. The purpose of the present study is twofold: first, to estimate the relationship between education returns and risk and second to measure the impact of return and key macro factors on real GDP growth rate, therefore casting light in the channels through which the economicgrowth can be affected.
Financial development and economic growth. An empirical analysis for Ireland
Antonios Adamopoulos
International Journal of Economic Sciences and Applied Research , 2010,
Abstract: This study investigated the relationship between financial development and economicgrowth for Ireland for the period 1965-2007 using a vector error correction model (VECM).Questions were raised whether financial development causes economic growth or reverselytaking into account the positive effect of industrial production index. Financial marketdevelopment is estimated by the effect of credit market development and stock marketdevelopment on economic growth. The objective of this study was to examine the long-runrelationship between these variables applying the Johansen cointegration analysis takinginto account the maximum eigenvalues and trace statistics tests. Granger causality testsindicated that economic growth causes credit market development, while there is a bilateralcausal relationship between stock market development and economic growth. Therefore, itcan be inferred that economic growth has a positive effect on stock market development andcredit market development taking into account the positive effect of industrial productiongrowth on economic growth for Ireland.
Equicontinuity of iterates of circle maps
Antonios Valaristos
International Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences , 1998, DOI: 10.1155/s0161171298000623
Abstract: Let f be a continuous map of the circle to itself. Necessary and sufficient conditions are given for the family ofiterates {fn}n=1 ¢ to be equicontinuous.
Michael V Kalaphates — Romanos IV Diogenes: Textual parallels in the chronographia of Michael Psellos
Vratimos Antonios
Zbornik Radova Vizantolo?kog Instituta , 2011, DOI: 10.2298/zrvi1148051v
Abstract: The books five and seven of the Chronographia contain some striking parallels between the two deposed and blinded emperors of the eleventh century, Kalaphates and Diogenes. The aim of this article is to consider whether these parallels are real historical facts or products of fabrication. Then, it will move on to examine how the two emperors are treated by Psellos within a context that takes into account the aspects of his political thought.
Stock Market And Economic Growth: An Empirical Analysis For Germany
Adamopoulos Antonios
Business and Economics Journal , 2010,
Abstract: This paper investigates the causal relationship between stock market development and economic growth for Germany for the period1965-2007 using a Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). The purpose of this paper was to examine the long-run relationshipbetween these variables, applying the Johansen co-integration analysis based on the classical unit roots tests. The results of Grangercausality tests indicated that there is a unidirectional causality between stock market development and economic growth withdirection from stock market development to economic growth.
Brane-World Multigravity
Antonios Papazoglou
Physics , 2001,
Abstract: In this thesis, we discuss the idea of multigravity, namely the possibility that a significant component of gravity that we feel at intermediate distances (1 mm < r < 10^26 cm) is due to massive but ultralight gravitons. We demonstrate how this phenomenon can be realized in brane-world models in a spacetime with more than four dimensions and discuss how modifications of gravity at cosmological scales emerge as a consequence. Firstly, we consider five dimensional multigravity models with flat branes. We see how the existence of freely moving negative tension branes gives rise to ultralight graviton Kaluza-Klein states. Secondly, we study the moduli corresponding to the position of the branes and the size of the extra dimension, the radions and the dilaton respectively. We show that the radions corresponding to negative tension branes have wrong sign kinetic term. We also derive a stabilization condition for the dilaton in a brane model with general bulk scalar field dynamics. Thirdly, we show how we can reproduce the five dimensional multigravity models with Anti-de Sitter branes of positive tension only. Moreover, we demonstrate how the van Dam-Veltman-Zakharov discontinuity can be circumvented at tree level in Anti-de Sitter space. Finally, we discuss how the above multigravity models can be replicated in six dimensions with flat positive tension branes. This last possibility is the first theoretically and phenomenologically viable realization of the multigravity scenario.
Dilaton tadpoles and mass in warped models
Antonios Papazoglou
Physics , 2001, DOI: 10.1016/S0370-2693(01)00358-6
Abstract: We review the brane world sum rules of Gibbons at al for compact five dimensional warped models with identical four-geometries and bulk dynamics involving scalar fields with generic potential. We show that the absence of dilaton tadpoles in the action functional of the theory is linked to one of these sum rules. Moreover, we calculate the dilaton mass term and derive the condition that is necessary for stabilizing the system.
