Cintra, Marcos Antonio Macedo;
Novos Estudos - CEBRAP , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-33002005000300004
Abstract: this article supports the thesis that the brazilian macroeconomic model has proven to be capable of creating economic cycles, which follow expansion and retraction movements of liquidity and world trade. however, it has not been able to bring back the country to the economic and social development pathway. the exchange, monetary and fiscal policies are contradictory and contribute to obstruct a sustained growth, the tackling of infrastructure constraints, and the expansion of social expenditure.

Cintra, Marcos Antonio Macedo;
Estudos Avan?ados , 2000, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-40142000000200010
Abstract: the article is an interpretation of the current dynamics of the north american monetary system, and its relations with enterprises, the federal reserve system, the treasury and the rest of the world. the author looked into the emergence of a specific mode of operation of a predominantly financial, unearned income-based type of capitalism, in which sophisticated, encompassing capital markets, forced to perform a daily evaluation of assets (foreign exchange, shares, securities, and property) prevail. moreover, this way of managing resources has become a paradigm for the rest of the world: financial operations started to occur in a global space, stemming hierarchically from the north american financial system, and being made possible by the monetary policies of the hegemonic nation, and imitated by developed and developing countries.

O fen?meno psicológico como objeto de estudo transdisciplinar
Chaves, Antonio Marcos;
Psicologia: Reflex?o e Crítica , 2000, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-79722000000100016
Abstract: based on the theoretical assumption that the individual subjectivity process takes place in a restricted cultural context in a given society, we discuss the cross-complementarity of the knowledge from sociology, anthropology, and psychology. however, the cultures and the types of social relationships have a history that illuminates the developmental conditions of the meanings of the types of social, economic, and political relationships. thus, to understand the whole cultural, political, social, and economic context in which the individual subjectivity is built, its historical reconstruction is required.

Santos, Marcos Antonio Almeida;
Revista Brasileira de Educa??o Médica , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-55022011000400014
Abstract: the national curriculum guidelines of 2001 require medicine undergraduates to receive consistent training in humanities. in order to meet this requirement, teaching staff are faced with a new task, in addition to the production of scientific knowledge, professional qualification and ethical training. in light of this premise, therefore, the medicine professor would be required to acquire a surprising attribute; that of being an "intellectual". this article presents a critical analysis of the feasibility of this "enlightenment mission" in relation to 21st century brazilian medical education, drawing on historical assumptions for teacher training both in brazil and abroad.

Abstract: Hizb ut Tahrir al Islami, the Islamic Liberation Party, is a social movement that is highly active in Europe, Central Asia and the Near East. In Lebanon, one of the few countries in the Arab world where it’s legal (together with Yemen and the United Arab Emirates), this party has refused to take part in elections, but continues to participate actively in the country’s political life through its social movement, which they call a “party”. The party’s vicissitudes in this country, going from illegality to operating freely (though recently it has been placed under suspicion), enables us to draw a series of useful conclusions for the evolution of political Islam in the public life of the Republic of Lebanon in the eastern Mediterranean.
