Abstract: manufacturing as an industrial activity that starts with the conceptual project and ends with proper material disposal or its reuse has evolved from a centralized to a distributed process. the several components of the process are distributed according to space and time. this evolution was possible due to the support of information technology, which allows manufacturing data management. however, this evolution happened in an independent way in each process phase, creating isolated solutions and consequently a high heterogeneity in data management. the development of a federative factory data management offers a solution of a transparent support to the users who need to obtain information from different proprietary systems. as an example of a service that demonstrates the possibility of federative management of manufacturing data in service oriented architecture within a heterogeneous and flexible environment, this article presents the estimated calculation of the manufacturing time for a complex surface.

Abstract: in this work is presented the results of the different laboratory tests carried out on gneissic intact rock of the porce iii hydroelectric project, colombia, in order to determine the degree of deformation and failure strength anisotropy under stress. this study concludes that the gneiss is a sound, brittle, of high strength and low grade anisotropic rock, and can be well modeled by a transverse isotropic linear elastic behavior under the drucker-prager failure criterion.
Caracteriza??o florística e estrutural das florestas naturalmente fragmentadas no Parque Estadual do Guartelá, município de Tibagi, estado do Paraná

Abstract: the araucaria forest in the region of campos gerais in paraná is naturally fragmented, and is found in patches (cap?es) or along watercourses. the goal of this study was to characterize the structure of these fragments and to evaluate correlations between species distribution and soil variables in parque estadual do guartelá, in the tibagy municipality (24°39'10"s, 50°15'25"w). fifty 10x10m plots were allocated, which were distributed in cap?es of different sizes and in the forest that follow the iapó river, and all individuals were sampled that were > 3m tall. a high number of species (140) and diversity (h'=4.17) values were found; much higher than those related to mixed ombrophylous forest. the evaluation of the composition and structure revealed a flora of transition between the mixed ombrophylous forest and semideciduous seasonal forest, with a greater similarity with the latter, something that is possibly influenced by the climate. a canonical correspondence analysis (cca) identified various textures and acidity related to the distribution of abundance of the species, and revealed two distinct groups: one shaped by the plots distributed in the patches (cap?es), which was strongly related to the texture of the soil; and the other by the plots allocated in the gallery forest, which was associated mainly with nutrient availability.

Abstract: in the present study, we characterized the floristic composition and tree structure of a swamp forest in northeast of s?o paulo state, brazil, where the drainage pattern changes mainly across the watercourse due to the topography. we aimed to investigate the species distribution in relation to substrate and light entrance in the community. sixty quadrats (10×10 m) were divided into six groups of 10 plots. in each quadrat, individuals with pbh > 10 cm were measured and identified. we also evaluated soil chemical properties, granulometry, topographic unevenness, drainage, and canopy openness. eighty-eight species were recorded, from which 61 were detected in the quadrats. canonical correspondence analysis (cca) indicated correlations between the distribution of the 29 most abundant species and drainage, topographic unevenness and fe in the axis 1, and canopy openness in the axis 2. spearman's rank correlation coefficient indicated significant correlations between 66% from the 29 species and water table depth or canopy openness. as examples, calophyllum brasiliense and xylopia emarginata were predominant in poorly-drained soils; siphoneugena densiflora and virola sebifera, in the drained ones; and myrcia laruotteana and xylopia sericea, in the quadrats presenting higher canopy openness. environmental heterogeneity showed to be an important factor in determining the species distribution and coexistence, which increases local diversity.
Aplica??o da relaxa??o lagrangeana e do algoritmo genético construtivo na solu??o do problema probabilístico de localiza??o-aloca??o de máxima cobertura

Abstract: the maximal covering location problem (mclp) seeks to locate facilities in order to maximize the serviced population, considering a given distance or standard service time. various extensions of this model have been proposed to enhance its applicability, e.g., probabilistic models for maximum location-allocation coverage with waiting time or queue length constraints for congested systems, taking into account one or more servers per service center. in this paper we present two procedures for solving a probabilistic model, which considers one server per center, using lagrangian relaxation and the constructive genetic algorithm. extensive tests of these approaches are presented and their results compared.

Abstract: a case of torsion of the gallbladder is presented. this is a rare condition that occurs when it is associated with anatomical variants related to abnormal fixation of the gallbladder to the liver bed. the blood irrigation is insufficient and the gallbladder develops necrosis. the abnormal implantation occurs in 4% of the population. if the gallbladder losses its fixations to the inferior margin of the liver with the presence of a 1011.g mesocyst a torsion can occur when this gallbladder twists axially with subsequent occlusion of the blood flow. the signs and symptoms are similar to those of severe acute cholecystitis: abrupt onset of the pain and large palpable mass below the right costal margin. the ultrasound can show a very large and anteriorly floating gallbladder: in this case, the ultrasound did not show any abnormal signs, so it is usually diagnosed at laparotomy and the treatement consists of cholecystectomy. this condition should be suspected in acute abdominal pain of unknown origin.
Controle n?o-linear de for?a de músculos artificiais poliméricos por efeito capacitivo

Abstract: an incipient technology for actuation with physical and dynamic characteristics similar to natural muscles has been studied since early 90's. however, the control of such systems is not a trivial task, due to actuator non-linearities. this work presents a proposal for non-linear control of force in artificial muscles based on the vhb4905 acrylic polymer. mathematical models of the tested actuator are developed. experiments are performed on a especially developed test bench with a force transducer and the artificial muscle actuated by a high voltage circuit (10kv maximum). a maximum force error of 1% is obtained when comparing the model that characterizes the material and the experiment that measures force versus electric stimulus. it is shown that the proposed non-linear controller results in a better step response when compared to a standard pid controller. the standard pid does not take into account the system non-linearities, therefore it cannot avoid oscillations in the step response when subjected to high voltages, close to the dielectric breakdown of the polymer. the effectiveness of the proposed control technique is proven experimentally.
