Abstract: the quality of strategic information is essential to organizations, as it contributes to the identification of challenges, opportunities, risks, and other relevant issues. this study had as objective to evaluate the quality of information, identifying the aspects of information management that influence it, through case studies in two brazilian federal banking organizations, which permitted the creation and implementation of a model for quality evaluation of organizational strategic information. the study was based on the adoption of both qualitative and quantitative approaches, and on the respective triangulation of the data. the conceptual theoretical model of our research establishes that the assessment of the quality of strategic information involves: the classification and evaluation of information, and the identification of aspects that impact its quality through the analysis of the information management process. it was identified that strategic information in the studied context is made of information requested, formal, internal, and treated. the principal constitutive elements of its quality are "error free" and "reliable". the level of quality of strategic information is satisfactory, the management processes are differentiated, and the management phases that impact quality characteristics are similar. the utilized methodological procedures do accredit the results in a positive way, since the created and implemented model demonstrated to be consistent and applicable.

Open Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OJOG) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ojog.2013.31018
Abstract:

The decision of what kind of labor that should be held is intermittently generating a great debate in Brazil. The growth in the number of cesarean sections has raised worries in some of the involved sectors of the society. It was proposed to investigate the factors which lead the women to take this decision, trying to understand the principle involved. A bibliographic review about the subject was made. The research happened in the town of Formiga, where some data were collected in two hospitalspublic and private about the number of labors during two months. Subsequently, the obstetricians and a group of pregnant women were submitted to a questionnaire, the answers were compiled and transformed into graphs which were analyzed. Finally, the data were compared with the related literature. The number of cesarean sections in the town was above the standard recommended. According to the obstetricians, the main reason would be the preference of the pregnant women, fact which was not confirmed by them, that discrepancy was confirmed by the literature. The level of information about the clinical indications for the type of labor was considered satisfactory by the doctors and the pregnant women, data contestable by the academics. The fear and the pain were identified by obstetricians and pregnant women as a predominant factor for the preference of cesarean sections, provided that, according to the literature, shows the precariousness of information for pregnant women about the normal birth. Another important data is that the doctors can have an important role in the kind of labor to be made. According to the obstetricians, their role would be very limited, but according to some pregnant women, they did trust in the doctors which should be the ideal labor for them. The analysis of most of the data collected shows a discrepancy between the information of pregnant women and obstetricians. Both sides involved in the issue do not admit as responsible for the elevate number of cesarean sections, so, some new approaches are needed for analysis. This analysis and diagnosis indicate the next step of the research: the supervision of the pregnant women, since the beginning of the gestation until the birth, trying to figure out the real factors which lead them to decide what kind of

Exacta , 2009,
Abstract: Among agriculture cultures in Brazil, aviculture is getting more important every year. Nowadays, it is in second place in supply of animal protein for human consumption. With the increase of necessity, the vivarium of birds tend to advance in the treating of birds. The concern about the environmental comfort of the animals is directly related to the increment of productivity in weight and eggs. In this work, it is proposed a methodology for a project of solar radiation blocker with rotative structure to impede the incidence of solar radiation and the heat gain where the animals are confined, using this illumination for the environmental comfort.

The objectives of this study are to identity the perceptions of community health agents regarding health and mental disorders, and to verify the preparation these agents receive to work in this field. This qualitative study was performed using semi-structured interviews for data collection and utilizing content analysis to interpret the data. Interviews were performed with 45 community health agents working in the Family Health Strategy, who reported to 21 basic health units in the city of Maringá, PR. Cadernos de Saúde Pública , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-311X2012000700010
Abstract: some effects of environmental pollution on human health are known, especially those affecting the respiratory and cardiovascular systems. the current study aimed to estimate these effects on the production of hospital admissions for stroke. this was an ecological study using hospital admissions data in s?o josé dos campos, s?o paulo state, brazil, with diagnosis of stroke, from january 1, 2007, to april 30, 2008. the target pollutants were particulate matter, sulfur dioxide, and ozone. use of a poisson linear regression model showed that same-day exposure to particulate matter was associated with hospitalization for stroke (rr = 1.013; 95%ci: 1.001-1.025). an increase of 10μg/m3 in this pollutant increased the risk of hospitalization by 12% (rr = 1.137; 95%ci: 1.014-1.276). in the multi-pollutant model, it was thus possible to identify particulate matter as associated with hospitalization for stroke in a medium-sized city like s?o josé dos campos.

Abstract: the three-dimensional analysis of the arterial ramification of the umbilical cord was studied in placenta of 35 mixed breed adult goats (originated from the state of piauí, brazil), after intravascular injection of neoprene 630 and vinyl acetate followed by corrosion. plastic casts of the vascular network made it possible to verify that in 17 single gastations the artery reaches the pregnant uterine horn gives rise to 12 colateral branches and 2 terminal ones. the artery of the non pregnant uterine horn showed, an average of 19 colateral and 2 terminal branches. in 13 samples of gemelar gestations, the artery of the right uterine horn directed to the uterus body had 8 colateral and 2 terminal branches average. the artery of the right uterine horn directed to the horn's extremity, had an average of 11 colateral and 2 terminal branches. the artery of the left uterine horn directed to the uterus body, had 9 colateral and 2 terminal branches on average. the artery of the left uterine horn directed to the horn's extremity, originated a mean of 10 colateral and 2 terminal branches. at the cotyledons level, the arteries adopted a marginal course forming a true vascular "loop" from which smaller and more perpendicular branches arise, which by their turn give rise to multiple terminal arborizations irrigating the cotyledon
