On a Discrete Version of the Mohr-Mascheroni Theorem  [PDF]
Marius Munteanu, Laura Munteanu
Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/am.2013.411A4002
Abstract:

We introduce a new geometric tool called n-compass and show that the famous theorem of Mascheroni and Mohr remains valid if the traditional compass is replaced by the newly introduced tool.

Rational Equiangular Polygons  [PDF]
Marius Munteanu, Laura Munteanu
Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/am.2013.410197
Abstract:

The main purpose of this note is to investigate equiangular polygons with rational edges. When the number of edges is the power of a prime, we determine simple, necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of such polygons. As special cases of our investigations, we settle two conjectures involving arithmetic polygons.

Geological and ecological assessment of the exposure degree of the Z ton-Bulba karst system (Mehedin i Plateau) to anthropogenic hazards: intrinsic vulnerability and biodiversity study
Marius Vlaicu,Cristian Mihai Munteanu,Andrei Giurginca,Cristian Goran
Travaux de l'Institut de Speologie Emile Racovitza , 2010,
Abstract: The Mehedin i Plateau represents an area highly marked by the intensity of the karst processes and by the diversity of the exokarst and endokarst features. The analyzed area includes two parallel limestone bars, developed on the Carpathian structures direction (NNE-SSW). The geological and geomorphological research, guided by a working protocol similar to that of the EPIK method, highlighted the role played by the lithology, structure, tectonics, epikarst and protective cover, related to the infiltration conditions, flow parameters and impact area of a potential contamination event; also, we carried on microtectonic studies on the Bulba Valley, Pe terii Hill, Podul Natural Cave and Bulba Cave. In addition to the results obtained following the EPIK method protocol, we bring forward data concerning the water quality, performing hydrogeochemical analyses on water samples collected from the main sources in the region. Our research has been focused on TDS, on cations (Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+, NH4+) and on anions (HCO3-, Cl-). We conclude by modelling the cumulative abundance and the species richness of the harvestmen (Opiliones) in the studied area, under different degrees of human impact on habitats
METHODOLOGICAL APPROACHES IN REALIZING AND APPLYING COST-BENEFIT ANALYSIS FOR THE INVESTMENT PROJECTS
Munteanu Valentin,Pantea Marius,Pelin Andrei,Gligor Delia
Annals of the University of Oradea : Economic Science , 2009,
Abstract: Cost-benefit analysis represents the most frequent technique used for a rational allocation of resources. This modality of evaluating the expenditure programs is an attempt to measure the costs and gains of a community as a result of running the evaluated
Binary Rate Distortion With Side Information: The Asymmetric Correlation Channel Case
Andrei Sechelea,Samuel Cheng,Adrian Munteanu,Nikos Deligiannis
Mathematics , 2015,
Abstract: Advancing over up-to-date information theoretic results that assume symmetric correlation models, in this work we consider the problem of lossy binary source coding with side information, where the correlation is expressed by a generic binary asymmetric channel. Specifically, we present an in-depth analysis of rate distortion with side information available to both the encoder and decoder (conventional predictive), as well as the Wyner-Ziv problem for this particular setup. Prompted by our recent results for the Z-channel correlation case, we evaluate the rate loss between the Wyner-Ziv and the conventional predictive coding, as a function of the parameters of the binary asymmetric correlation channel.
Erectile Dysfunction in Male with Glans Penis Apocrine Hydrocystoma: Organic or Psychogenic?  [PDF]
Ion Dumbraveanu, Iurie Arian, Andrei Munteanu, Daniela Catereniuc, Adrian Tanase
Advances in Sexual Medicine (ASM) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/asm.2017.73010
Abstract:
The location of the apocrine hydrocystoma in the penis region is rare. We present a case where we evaluated the erectile function of a patient presenting such an asymptomatic formation. We assessed the psychogenic component of the erectile dysfunction based on the association of the somatic component of the cyst with the patient’s inability to focus on sexual intercourse. The fear of traumatization of the cyst during sexual intercourse was considered as a triggering factor of the chain of insufficient or unsuccessful erections, and the sexual performance anxiety as a factor in maintaining this erectile dysfunction. Apparently, an organic cause induced an erectile dysfunction, through non-organic (predisposition, triggering and maintenance) mechanisms.
INCAS TRISONIC WIND TUNNEL
Florin MUNTEANU
INCAS Bulletin , 2009, DOI: 10.13111/2066-8201.2009.1.1.2
Abstract: The 1.2 m x 1.2 m Trisonic Blowdown Wind Tunnel is the largest of the experimental facilities at the National Institute for Aerospace Research - I.N.C.A.S. "Elie Carafoli", Bucharest, Romania. The tunnel has been designed by the Canadian company DSMA (now AIOLOS) and since its commissioning in 1978 has performed high speed aerodynamic tests for more than 120 projects of aircraft, missiles and other objects among which the twin jet fighter IAR-93, the jet trainer IAR-99, the MIG-21 Lancer, the Polish jet fighter YRYDA and others. In the last years the wind tunnel has been used mostly for experimental research in European projects such as UFAST. The high flow quality parameters and the wide range of testing capabilities ensure the competitivity of the tunnel at an international level.
Web User Profile Using XUL and Information Retrieval Techniques
Dan MUNTEANU
Annals of Dunarea de Jos , 2008,
Abstract: This paper presents the importance of user profile in information retrieval, information filtering and recommender systems using explicit and implicit feedback. A Firefox extension (based on XUL) used for gathering data needed to infer a web user profile and an example file with collected data are presented. Also an algorithm for creating and updating the user profile and keeping track of a fixed number k of subjects of interest is presented.
Recommendation Process in SR1 Web Document Recommender System
Dan MUNTEANU
Annals of Dunarea de Jos , 2008,
Abstract: This paper presents a recommender system for web documents (given as bookmarks). The system uses for classification a combination of content, event and collaborative filters and for recommendation a modified Pearson-r algorithm. The algorithm for recommendation is using not only the correlation between users but also the similarity between classes. Some experimental results that support this approach are also presented.
THE CONNECTION BETWEEN MANAGEMENT AND TECHNOLOGY AND THE TECHNOLOGICAL MANAGEMENT
RARE? MUNTEANU
Annals of the University of Petrosani : Economics , 2010,
Abstract: In a new approach, the technology is taken into consideration as a resource of the business, in addition to the four traditional resources: material resources, financial resources, human resources and informational resources. This makes important for the managers to have solid technological knowledge, in addition to the economics. The research regarding the technological management (or the management of technology - MOT) is lead by IAMOT (International Association in Management of Technology). There are a lot of connections between the technology on one side and the finances, the human resources, the marketing, the operational management on the other side. In our era the technology is more and more advanced and all the activities are strongly connected to it.
