Abstract: This paper investigates the transformations that contemporary education is suffering under the new requirements arisen from the information era regarding the representation of time and the production of information and knowledge. Through a bibliographical study, this paper moves the discussion between the dematerialization of space, the acceleration of time and the strangeness of multicultural knowledge where universal concepts and instant question in a relentless need to innovate and reform the foundations of science, education, arts and culture are noticed. Based on the reflections of Pierre Levy, Michel Foucault, David Harvey, Paul Virilio and ágnes Heller it mentions uncertainties that denounce the apparent inefficiency of institutions that seek immediate solutions in Education in order to reduce the inability to keep up with the dynamic contemporary requirements.

Abstract: This article aims at discussing the institutionalization of Primary Education in Sergipe demonstrating the interdependence of foreign and Brazilian laws, which were published in the newspaper Jornal do Aracaju (1872). The evidences for it can be found through ads, educational legislation, and the Provincial Assembly speeches on Primary Education in the 19th century, in Sergipe. The sources mentioned establish an interdependent relationship among state, family and government agents, mediated by laws and the press, having been analyzed under the historiographical matrix of Cultural History. The research demonstrates the fertility of the debates in the Imperial period and the plurality of educational practices and aspects that produced a school form that was implemented throughout the 19th century.

CERNE , 2010,
Abstract: This study aimed to compare floristic composition and the phytosociological structure between two fragments of strictosensu cerrado in Gr o Mogol, North of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The tree communities were evaluated using the quarter point method. In each fragment, points were distributed equidistant 10 m among them along six transects of 70 m, totaling 48 points per fragment. It was measured, in each point, the height, CBH of four plants to the corresponding quarters in relation to central point. It wasconsidered the individual trees sampled with DHB > 3 cm and height > 1.5 m. It was sampled a total of 73 species in the two fragments, being 48 species in fragment 1, distributed in 41 genera and 24 families, while 54 species were found in fragment 2, distributed in 47 genera and 28 families. The most representative families were Fabaceae and Vochysiaceae. The total density estimated for thefragment 1 was 1275.51 ind. ha-1 and 1580.58 ind. ha-1 to the fragment 2. In both fragments, Qualea parviflora and Eriothecapubescens showed the highest importance value (IVI). The diversity (H‘) and equability (J) values were 3.13 and 0.87 for fragment 1,and 3.27 and 0.84 for fragment 2, respectively. The Sorensen’s similarity index was 0.68. The diameter and height distribution of the study communities presented inverted-J form, indicating a positive balance between recruitment and mortality, coming from thesecondary sucessional process of the communities. The study areas showed woody species richness pattern of the sensu strictocerrado, however, the area 2 showed higher floristic and structural values, indicating more advanced sucessional stage.

Brazilian Journal of Microbiology , 2006,
Abstract: The distribution of virulence genes, sefC, pefA and spvC, was investigated in 110 Salmonella Enteritidis phage type 4 strains by polymerase chain reaction. Their influence in the caecal colonization and invasion of liver and spleen of one-day-old chickens was studied. Eight isolates were negative for the spvC gene, three for the pefA gene and one, for the sefC gene. These results allowed grouping the strains into four genotypes. Presence of these genes did not influence bacteria invasion in the liver and spleen of the chickens ten days after infection, although the presence of more than one fimbrial gene can be related to caecal colonization.

Abstract: the purpose of the present study was to analyze differences in physiognomic structure, species diversity, and species guild composition of the tree community of different sectors of a tropical semideciduous forest fragment. each sector varies in terms of regeneration phase and exposure to the forest edges. the forest fragment, which has an area of 5.8ha and is situated in lavras municipality, minas gerais state, brazil (21°13'40''s; 44°57'50''w), was classified into four sectors and underwent a census of all trees with dbh > 5.0cm. the sectors were compared for tree density and basal area, distribution of heights and diameters, species diversity, and frequency of trees per regeneration, dispersal, and stratification guilds. the sectors that were more lightly disturbed in the past, tall interior and tall edge, showed higher tree basal areas, lower tree densities (particularly for smaller size classes), and higher proportions of individuals of shade-tolerant tree species and tall tree species, than the more heavily disturbed sectors, low interior and low edge. these differences indicate that the tall sectors are at a more advanced regeneration phase. the edge sectors had higher frequency of trees of anemochorous species than the interior sectors. each edge sector had higher species diversity than its interior partner. it was concluded that the analyzed parameters may serve as efficient means of assessment of past disturbance severity as well as of present regeneration phase and edge effects.
